McCardell looks like solid value here. I can't shake the good feeling I have about K-Rob either. Braylon looks high here coming off an ACL injury. Lots of potential with him though IMO. He was having a nice rookie season.

I'm getting giddy!!! Amazingly not too many surprises at face value. My initial impressions at the early end of the draft are that:

a) Deuce M. is overvalued

b) Gates is undervalued

c) Owens will again be a steal (for as long as he plays)

d) Moss that high = Brooks should be higher = Moss is healthy'ish

e) drafting from the #1 spot = LT, Fitz, K. Jones

f) round three has a ton of talent in it

g) Round 4 starts the "upside guys" area

At the middle of the draft (rounds 5 to 8)

a) Soo many qb's available it isn't even funny

b) Rounds 6 to 7 is when the quality WR2 prospects fall

c) If you don't have a TE by round 8, there is little talent left

d) There is still good value in round 8, esp. if K's and D's are starting to go!

Thanks for posting this. It's kind of like the day Santa arrives at the mall. You know the big days coming, but there's alot of anxious days ahead.

Antsports? Are you serious? The same site where they take compilations from hundreds of mock drafts that hardly ever get completed, or people lose interest after the first round and start making "stupid" picks, or "kids" get on there and just pick up players they've heard of. Thanks for taking the time to post this info, but I'm just giving everyone else a little more info behind where they get these results from. Me personally, I think Antsports is a joke. :nerd:

Most of us here are 110% aware of the shortcomings in Antsports mocks. However, there is still plenty of value in looking into the results of these drafts. Thanks for posting, KRS.One question...am I just not seeing Culpepper in the list? I know the injury wasn't pretty, he'll be lucky to start the season, etc...but I still would expect him to be drafted within the first 8 rounds. Hmm.

I believe they take their averages from Serious mock drafts and only one's that were completed... Not the one's where kids play and don't finish....I think it's a pretty good tool and a good discussion unless you see some glaring problems with player rankings?

1) Larry Johnson is a wee bit overrated. The KC line is not as good this year as it was last year, and Herm Edwards is not going to score as many point as Dikc Vermeil. Johnson is quite talented, but #2 overall? I think I'd rather take Alexander.2) I love Steve Smith as much as the next guy, but he's a bit too fragile for me. No way I take him in the 1st round - if I have to take a WR, I'd be happier with Torry Holt at that spot.

3) Willis McGahee is still in the first round? In a 1ppr league? Westbrook should be in that spot, or perhaps even higher.

4) The first RB2 (13th RB overall) was taken at 2.03. The last RB2 (24th RB overall) was taken at 4.09. That RB was Chester Taylor, while 2.03 was Julius Jones. To me, the dropoff in talent from 2.03 to 4.09 at RB is relatively small. I think there's good value at WR in round 2.

5) Manning in round 1, Palmer in round 4, and no other QBs until round 6? This is why leagues need to move to 2QB. Anyway, I think Eli Manning is tremendously underrated - lower than Tom Brady and Trent Green. I'd love Eli in round 6, but I don't see Donovan McNabb or Daunte Culpepper on this list, which makes me doubt the whole thing - hell, I'll take both of them in round 9! It's also hard for me to imagine how anyone takes David Carr ahead of Aaron Brooks.

6) Guess word hasn't gotten out about Koren Robinson...

this pretty much shows the rb heavy drafts my re draft leagues are like each and every year. I would LOVE to take Manning or even Palmer early or a top line WR but to do that your opening yourself to be very weak at RB and with a late first pick in most my leagues if I don't stay on the RB follow the leader path I don't stand a chance. Last year I drafted my first QB in 12th round. (Brees) I dominaed the league with a 12th round QB and WITHOUT A TRUE wr 1 or 2 on team. Just shows how important RB'S ARE THEM FIRST 3 ROUNDS!

The reason you dominated was because Brees outperformed his draft position tremendously.

I agree that AntSports mocks can be frustrating...but I do participate in them, if only to be a part of the ADP. The number of mocks running right now is low, but I do have early results from three that I'm currently in. They're all 10-team leagues, and I kept drafting the same players...

Am I overvaluing these players? Are they consistently being undervalued by my opponents? Or are they just not in AntSports' "Top 32" positional menu, so my opponents don't realize they're still available?

I drafted E.Manning in 3 out of 3 leagues in the 8th and 9th rounds.

I drafted D.Bledsoe in 2 out of 3 leagues in the 10th round.

I drafted B.Westbrook in 2 out of 3 leagues in the 2nd round.

I drafted W.Parker in 3 out of 3 leagues in the 3rd round.

I drafted D.Rhodes in 2 out of 3 leagues in the 5th and 6th rounds.

I drafted R.Dayne in 2 out of 3 leagues in the 12th and 13th rounds.

I drafted S.Moss in 2 out of 3 leagues in the 4th and 6th rounds.

I drafted J.Galloway in 3 out of 3 leagues in the 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds.

I drafted K.McCardell in 2 out of 3 leagues in the 11th and 12th rounds.

I would not take Manning in a 12 team league that early. You are overvaluing him.Westbrook is undervalued.

Parker is about right, I would grab him there.

Galloway I am unsure of right now.

Yeah, and last year I played in a 2QB league where I didn't draft an RB until the 5th round, and ended up with Mike Anderson, Fred Taylor, and Chris Brown. Ended up winning the league after I traded Marvin Harrison and Trent Dilfer for Drew Brees and Larry Johnson. Priest Holmes was done for the season a day or two later, and I went to the Superbowl. You have to know your league, but the truth is that you usually win your league based on hitting big in the middle and later rounds, and you often lose your league when your early round picks bust or get injured.

I have said often - you can't win your league in the first round but you can lose it.

Ronnie Brown at the end of the second is an absolute steal.

and please don't quote the whole first post, it takes forever to scroll down, TIA

Mr. Perennially Underrated Tiki Barber is for once, overrated. Although I wouldn't fault someone for taking him as early as 4th, I liked him a lot better the last few years when I could get him in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

I'd say you won in large part because you stole that guy blind. Even before the Holmes injury there's no way I would've given up LJ and Brees for only Harrison (which is essentially what the trade was because you couldn't have believed Dilfer would be a viable option all season long). Horrible trade by that guy. Props to you for cashing in.

Yea I wonder a lot about Barber. This will be the first year I've ever ranked him in the Top 10 and I worry about if I would take him among the Top 5 RBs (which is where I currently have him slotted) if this is the year he goes belly-up.

I believe they take their averages from Serious mock drafts and only one's that were completed... Not the one's where kids play and don't finish....I think it's a pretty good tool and a good discussion unless you see some glaring problems with player rankings?
:goodposting: Computer picks are not included and Antsports does a very good job in projecting players once you have had a bunch of drafts in the database.

It is very useful to see where the school of fish is going.

Trust me Warpig, you aren't giving us any behind the scenes info we don't already know about.

Mr. Perennially Underrated Tiki Barber is for once, overrated. Although I wouldn't fault someone for taking him as early as 4th, I liked him a lot better the last few years when I could get him in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.
:goodposting: This is the year Barber disappoints.

Time to zag on Barber.

Yea I wonder a lot about Barber. This will be the first year I've ever ranked him in the Top 10 and I worry about if I would take him among the Top 5 RBs (which is where I currently have him slotted) if this is the year he goes belly-up.
:lmao: You are late to the party buddy.

Not sure I follow. If you're trying to say I should've ranked Barber higher in the past I agree although there's only been one year (last year) where I regret taking another RB ahead of him. In other years I've taken guys who may not have performed as well but performed well enough. If you're trying to say I'm not the first one to wonder about Barber possibly possibly being over-rated this season and under-achieving I have to think that was rather evident by the first sentence of my post that you quoted.

Any idea when this was compiled?

James and TO are still listed with there old teams.
That's Antsports for ya. But as long as people find use in their mocks.
You can sit here and complain about antsports mock drafts if you want to, but a lot of us are fiending for some real fantasy info and are tired of threads about what # Bush would wear in the pros and is Favre a tool for not retiring yet.I didn't say the ADPs were perfect, but they are perfect for getting discussion going on fantasy relevant matters for 2006 & beyond.

People who pass up on Clinton Portis for Tiki Barber will be disappointed this season. This is coming from a Cowboys fan too......I think Portis challenges LT and SA for the #2 spot behind LJ.

Why?

Portis has had a lot of success without a great offensive coordinator. This season he will be better.

I see a big drop off from Alexander. He got his fat check, he got to go to the Super Bowl. Wouldn't be shocked to see an ill timed injury or just a lack of effort.

LT will still put up numbers but I wonder what effect Phillip Rivers will have on his production. Not saying LT wont be great as usual but a slight dropoff wouldn't be out of the question, especially early on when teams flood the box with 8 man fronts, hell they might even have the mascott on the line to blitz Rivers.

I was referring to the former, and the fact that I am typically one of the biggest Barber supporters who will now be hesitant to take him in the first round for the first time in a while and now people who typically would have been on the other side of the fence ranking him so high, are ranking him high when I am not big on him.I just thought it was funny.

;)

I would not take Manning in a 12 team league that early.  You are overvaluing him.
The #4 QB from last year is overvalued in the 8th-9th round?
Yes.
So either you think Eli is going to drop a lot in the QB rankings, or you don't believe in taking a QB in the 8th-9th round. Why do you think whichever is true (or something else)?
I think both are true. I think the Giants offense is going to take a step back and the earliest you should take a QB is the 9th. I have my reasoning for the latter in start 3 WR leagues where scarcity at more than just the RB position is evident.

Will someone explain to me why Deuce is still a first rounder?

Call me crazy, but Jamal Lewis at #26 is a steal.

I expect huge changes in the ADP of Tatum Bell & DeShaun Foster by August.

No one has a problem with Phillip Rivers throwing to Gates apparently.

Here comes Ron Dayne at #98!

I don't get Edge at #6. I know he's very good but come on he's in Arizona. I'd be shocked if he was top 10 at the end of the year. I'll take whoever is in Indy (rookie or Rhodes) to beat his ?#'s this year.

I'm really surprised to see DD in the first round. The guy gets injured a lot and with the Texans probably taking Reggie Bush I just can't imagine DD being a good first round pick. I'd probably stay away from him in the second round as well. And I agree about McAllister as well. The guy has had some injury concerns the past two seasons with the major ACL injury this past season. Add in a new QB, new HC and new OC and there's no way I'd take McAllister in the first round.
