5-7: Hall of Fame Weekend.

6 (8:00PM, NBC): Hall of Fame Game, Canton, Ohio: Oakland vs. Philadelphia.

8: If a Drafted Rookie has not signed with his club by this date, he may not be traded to any other club in 2006.

8: Deadline for players under contract to report to earn a season of free agency credit.

10-14: First Preseason Weekend.

12-16: Clubs have until five days prior to their game on the second preseason weekend to provide written notice to certain unsigned players and the NFLPA of their intent to place them on the Exempt List if they fail to report no later than one day prior to that weekend's game. Any player who fails to report prior to the deadline will be ineligible to play or receive compensation for at least three games (preseason or regular season) from the time that he reports.

17-21: Second Preseason Weekend.

24-28: Third Preseason Weekend.

29: Roster cut-down to maximum of 65 players on Active List by 4 p.m., New York time.

30: All tryouts on this date and for the remainder of the season must be reported to the League office.

31-September 1: Fourth Preseason Weekend.

SEPTEMBER

2: Roster cut-down to maximum of 53 players on Active/Inactive List by 6 p.m., New York time. Clubs may dress minimum of 42 and maximum of 45 players and Third Quarterback for each regular season and postseason game.

2: Simultaneously with the cut-down to 53, clubs that have players in the categories of Active/Physically Unable to Perform or Active/Non-Football Injury or Illness must take one of the following options: place player on Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform or Reserve/Non-Football Injury or Illness, whichever is applicable; ask waivers; terminate; trade; or continue to count him on Active List.

3: Claims on players placed on waivers at the final roster reduction will expire at 12 noon, New York time.

3: After 12 noon, clubs may establish a Practice Squad of eight players by signing free agents who do not have an accrued season of free agency credit or who were on the 45-player Active List for less than nine regular season games during each of any Accrued Season(s).

6: All clubs are required to file a personnel (injury) report with their conference information manager by 4 p.m., New York time, on this date and every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday thereafter prior to a regular season game. Clubs playing Thursday games are required to file injury reports beginning on Tuesday.

6: Beginning at 4 p.m., New York time, Team Salary includes all players receiving compensation under their 2006 contracts. Top 51 rule is no longer in effect.

7: After 4 p.m., New York time, any new or altered incentives renegotiated in a pre-existing contract for the 2006 season automatically will be deemed "Likely to be Earned" for 2006.

7-11: Regular Season opens.
