Best RB tandem that will put up numbers (1 Viewer)

So basically here is my train of thought.... I am looking at situations where RB value could be had later in the draft due to various reasons (1 RB is injury prone, looks like RBBC etc), at those positions I am hoping that I can grap two RB's from the same team and hope one of them emerges to put up top 10-15 numbers

Examples(current ADP's from AntSports)

DeShaun Foster (5.06)

Deangelo Williams (9.02)

Not the typical situation but a situation where there is doubt no less. Fantasy players look to be shying away from Foster due to his injury history however if the hype is true about Williams he should be able to step in and pick up where Foster left off. Possible top 10 numbers from the Carolina RB.

Joseph Addai (6.05)

Dominic Rhodes (8.01)

Both players are looking impressive in camp and one of them should emerge with the lions share of the carries. Jumping on both of these guys in the 5th and 6th round should nab you a top 10 RB.

More potential situations to jump on

Cedric Benson (6.10)

Thomas Jones (7.06)

Ron Dayne (8.06)

Tatum Bell (5.03)

Greg Jones

Maurice Drew

Dillon (5.08)

Maroney (10.03)

The above tandems in my opinion will probably produce the most value.

Thoughts and opinions are welcome.

Chris Brown/ Lendale White could also be a solid combo. I had good luck with this strategy a couple of years ago for my #2 RB with Suggs/Green putting up some good numbers for me (even was forced to start both a couple of times successfully). Last years combo of Michael Bennett/Mewelde Moore was not so good.

Gore/Barlow is another cheap combo but I think there are too many obstacles there for them to be overly successful.

Clearly Foster/DWill is the best combo.

CAR RB = top-10 lock. I'd burn a 5 and a 9 for an RB1...

:goodposting:

I don't know my draft position yet, but IMO you can have great value this year going RB-WR-WR in the first 3 rounds. Doesn't matter which is your draft spot, you will end up with a top RB and 2 top 10 WR !!!

If you choose the right RB combo later... that's money in the bank!!

As a combination and assuming you start the right one each week they could equal the equivalent of a top 10. Picking the right one to start each week I don't think will be as easy as other situations though. I could see a combo of Foster/Williams all season long to try and keep Foster healthy, and to have a fresh set of legs on the field all game long. I think they are both too talented to keep off the field, so some sort of split and using them both would be the best thing for the team, IMO.As for individuals, Carolina has never had a RB reach top 10 fantasy numbers in their history. Not even Stephen Davis put up top 10 fantasy numbers. 12th was his highest, and the next highest was Anthony Johnson at 14th in 1996.

This post is misleading and inaccurate.1) It implies Foster/DWill split time, which is absolutely false. Foster starts until Fox goes with DWill. I give him 4 weeks, 6 at most.2) It implies CAR RB is not a solid fantasy option. While no CAR RB has finished in the top-10, the position of "CAR RB" = top-10. Whomever the starting RB has been, a season compiling the stats of the 16 starters over each of the past 3 seasons = RB9, RB10, RB10 IIRC.It is not a far stretch to say that the combo of Foster and then DWill should put up better than RB10 numbers.

Looking prior to Davis is worthless considering that was a different offensive system. While Davis didn't put up top-ten numbers it was primarily because of injuries each year where he'd miss at least a couple of games. In his absence guys like Foster, Goings, etc. all stepped in and did very well for stretches of time. If you have the top guy and his backup, barring something drastic happening you should have a very productive RB #2 wrapped up.

1) Has yet to be proven true or false. No one knows how exactly Fox will use Foster and Williams. You believe it's a clear cut starter getting all the work, I disagree and think both are too talented to favor one over the other, especially with the injury concern regarding Foster. Nothing misleading there, just a difference of opinions.2) Does not imply that the Carolina's RB situation is not a fantasy option. I believe Carolina will have one of the better rushing teams in the league this year and Foster/Williams combined could easily be a top 10 RB. However, I do not see it being all one back each game so unless you play in a league where you get to start the Team's RBs, not the individuals, you may need to start them both to get those top 10 numbers. Just a difference of opinions, nothing intentially misleading or inaccurate. Many people seem to be so in love with the Foster/Willaims combo and that one back will be getting 20-25 carries a game. I disagree and think both will be used in order to keep each fresh, possibly limit Fosters injury concerns, and as a team have a much better running game. Similar to the way San Fran used Hearst/Barlow in 2002 & 2003.I don't see the Carolina situation ending up being a "top guy and his back-up" kind of situation. I see two top backs in Foster and Williams, and I think it would benefit the team most to use them both.

It wasn't even RBBC when CAR was down to its 3rd string fullback. The only reason there was a bit of RBBC last year was because Davis was coming off surgery and Foster had come off IR.You don't RBBC guys with similar skill sets. That said, since DWill is better, he'll start at some point. Foster starts because he's a veteran. And that said, even in slight RBBC last year, the starting back still hit RB10.

I'm torn on this whole RBBC issue and feel like it would be wise to stay away from spending two picks on it. I've never really tried it, though. Assuming a common 2 RB league, you're almost certainly not going to start both of those RBs meaning you're left at having to guess who gets the most load for every game. If you guess the wrong RB too many times, well, that's a nasty handicap.

If they only went with one of the two RBs every game, then fair enough. That would look to be a good move to get both of them. But isn't it somewhat of a risky bet to assume that Foster/Williams or Rhodes/Addai won't be sharing the load each game? And also risky in that you may miss grabbing the second one and be stuck with just one?

The starting RB stats from Carolina last year did not equal top 10 fantasy numbers, combined they would have equaled #21 fantasy numbers. There were a few weeks that Davis started, but Foster put up better numbers, and in week 2 Foster started but Davis put up the better numbers.Using nfl.com as who was the starter each week, and using FBG's game log fantasy numbers and season leaders you would get this:
Code:
1 Davis 14.1 2 Foster 6.0 3 Davis 5.2 4 Davis 19.2 5 Davis 10.6 6 Davis 2.7 7 BYE	8 Davis 16.7 9 Davis 16.9 10	Davis 14.1 11	Davis 0.6 12	Davis 2.5 13	Davis 0.8 14	Foster 4.8 15	Foster 8.4 16	Foster 8.1 17	Foster	22.5 Total 153.2
153.2 would be just ahead of Julius Jones for #21. #10 was Mike Anderson at 201 fantasy points.

Greg Jones & Maurice Drew? What about Fred Taylor?

I think one RB tandem that could be had for extremely cheap and could easily outproduce it's draft position is Gore/Barlow.

This is a great strategy to use in auction leagues. There you can hopefully "buy" perhaps 2 pairs of these RBs as your RB#3, RB#4, RB#5 and RB#6. You can always back off if some other owner is real high on the first leg of the tandem. It is more risky to use this strategy in straight drafts because you either have to go 2 rounds too early (based on ADP) to ensure that you get the 2nd part of the tandem as there are usually some "rookie whore's" in every league that love to draft rookie RBs too early.

In auction, smart owners won't get in a bidding war with you for the 2nd part of the tandem b/c they won't want to waste a lot of cash on a crap shoot that they buy the wrong guy.

One risk no one has highlighted yet with all of the go Rb/WR/WR theories followed by getting 2 Rbs from one team late is the bye week issues.

When your RB1 is on bye, you have to start the 2 RBs from same team as Rb1 and 2 (or someone like a Marin Barber or a Sam Gado that you pick up as RB4).

When your Rb2 combo (saw DWill, Foster) is on a bye, you have to start your Rb4 (Barber/Gado etc) as RB2.

Keep that in mind if you decide not to go Rb with 2nd or 3rd round picks.
