Ryan Moats-RB- Eagles Aug. 22 - 9:34 am et

The Broncos have reportedly shown interest in Ryan Moats.

Moats is coming off a miserable preseason effort, carrying seven times for seven yards, with a fumble. Still, the Broncos might be willing to ditch one year of Ashley Lelie for three years of Moats, which makes sense for both sides. It'd help Moats' fantasy value.

Source: Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News

This is a step in the right direction in confirming the rumor posted here last night.

I just don't see how Philly could afford to part with a RB and why Denver would want another RB.

What is "confirming a rumor?"

There is NOTHING NEW about this. Bob Brookover is simply parroting Anthony Gargano's rumor of the past few weeks. This is the SAME thing that got locked last night.

Speaking of rumors...the local beat reporter in Charlotte was discussing Shelton to Denver. Should I start a thread???

Bingo. Between Lelie and Stephen Davis there's way too much speculation going on.

Of course this is all speculation:

Maybe Tatum's shown more attitude about not being #1, and not content with his change of pace role. Shannahan doesn't deal well with malcontents (lelie, portis) and doesn't mind trading Tatum if they can get a change of pace guy like Moats, who knows his role. The key will be the additional player Philly gives up. Last night the rumor included Darwin Walker. I don't know much about him, but Denver could use D line depth with Courtney Brown & Gerrard Warren injured.

:hophead:

:lmao: 2 rumors apparently = rumor + confirmation.

Very interesting. Shows how much faith Denver may have in M. Bell. Moats would be a good back for DEN, however I'd be happier if they just ditched T. Bell all together and got a for sure #2 RB... being a M. Bell owner and all

Wow! Interesting topic although I don't understand why Denver wants another RB. Last I heard was that Cedric Cobbs and Damien Nash might move past Dayne on the depth chart.

To be honest, I don't think the coaching staff considers TBell a malcontent. I think they consider him an RB who really really wants the #1 role- and coaches like having backup RBs who really really want the #1 job. The coaching staff doesn't consider Lelie a malcontent because he wants to be #1, they consider him a malcontent because he's not willing to work his butt off to earn it. TBell has shown he's willing to work his butt off. I've always felt that the coaching staff LIKED his attitude.

I completely agree except for one detail. Both of them came out and criticized the coaching staff. When they appointed MBell to #1, TBell kind of threw a mini tantrum about it. While yeah, he's shown he is willing to work (something Lelie hasn't), they both came in expecting to have the jobs given to them, and spoke out publicly. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I always thought that any player (especially TO), should be seen, not heard. Work your ### off, leave it all on the field, and let the chips fall where they may. No use whining about it to the press, they can't do anything but cause problems. I do agree though, coaches have to like a player whoes attitude is that they can, and want to be a starter.

I got the notion that Tatum feels he deserves to be the starting back, but the coaches aren't giving him his due. Of course, this isn't T.O. level malcontent, but an attitude problem none the less. Portis was a hard worker, and a stud RB at that. IIRC, all it took was a little grumbling (I think it was a bigger contract?), and off he went. Just shows, if Denver feels like they're getting a decent return, they have no problems with trading a good rb.

I'm guessing that this is just another hollow rumor, but it would be big news if it happened. I think Ryan Moats is better than any of the backs on Denver's roster. He's got a lot of wiggle and he could potentially put up some very big numbers in that system.

And they shouldn't have a problem with that. They've been able to turn out a 1000+ yard back consistently. I can't see Moats starting for them. He's talented, but he's basically another T-Bell, a change of pace back to break it to the outside.

I think that is true, to a degree. Also, denver might be doing what other fantasy players do...try to buy a player you like when his stock is low. Moats stock in philly hasn't been much lower lately, considering his pre-season results.

Agreed. Not to mention it makes complete sense that Philly could use Lelie. I would imagine Denver is looking to improve their roster as well, and if they "really like" Moats, why not dish off Tbell and Lelie for Moats and maybe some D help or draft picks. Who knows, that trade leaves open a lot of possibilities

Hey - when I was getting to work yesterday I saw this redneck looking dude with a mullet and a "Big Johnson" shirt on. At the same timeI farted and suprisingly it sounded like "faarrrrrrve".

So I think there will be a three way trade between Oakland, Green Bay and Kansas City with Paul McQuistan going to Kansas City, Favre going to Oakland and Larry Johnson going to Green Bay.

....and remember - you heard it here first!!!! :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

beautiful...... thanks for the heads up! I'm grabbing the mullet!

WOW, I don't see it happening.

Philly needs RBs, and has some nice young WRs.

Denver needs another RB like a hole in the head.

Not a good match for a deal, imo.

Correction. All it took was a little grumbling... the best CB in the NFL (who hadn't even hit his prime) and a 2nd round pick. I'm sure Denver would trade Tatum Bell for Al Harris (or better- Julius Peppers, since they need a DE) and a 2nd in a heartbeat.Clinton Portis could have been a model citizen, or Mike Shanahan's own son, and they still would have made that trade. Denver's rushing attack has been as good without Portis as it was with him, so it makes a lot of sense to leverage him for some help somewhere else.

I'm having trouble seeing your argument here. You just said Philly needs RB, and Denver has too many... yet the point of this thread was to announce that Denver may trade TBell to Philly for Moats. Is T-Bell not an upgrade over Moats? The only problem in your argument is that you say Philly has some nice young WRs... yeah... that's about all you can say about them- they're nice (though I don't know them personally) and they're young! Pinkston is hardly a #1, and Reggie Brown has shown that he's a decent #2, that's about it. I'd rather trot Lelie and a second year player than 2 #2 WRs... Lelie at least knows he can be a #1 WR. Pinkston and Brown will not get the Eagles to a superbowl. That combo scares no one.As for Denver, why not downgrade to Moats to allow TBell to be a #1 back, Mike Bell to be your #1 back, and Moats to be a role player. TBell is unsatisifed being a change of pace back. Moats wouldn't be. Perhaps you are confused?

Ummmm... because it's a downgrade? Why the hell would any team not only INTENTIONALLY DOWNGRADE at a position... BUT ALSO THROW IN ANOTHER PLAYER FOR THE RIGHT TO DO SO? I mean, if Denver wants to downgrade at runningback, why not just cut Tatum Bell outright? At least that way it wouldn't cost Ashley Lelie, too (a guy who they value as a first or second round pick or a front-line starter).I'm not saying that Denver views Moats as a downgrade, I'm just saying that that logic makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Because they can get something more. Moats for TBell straight up isn't a very good trade, but like you said yourself- they traded Portis, and while they upgraded at CB (and overall), they downgraded at RB. Why not take a downgrade in TALENT at RB, but you have a RB that is a better fit... They can get a lot for TBell and Lelie. No one knows who or what the rest of the trade involves- I assume Denver wouldn't be stupid enough to do a 2-1 with those players, so if they can get other players that will upgrade them overall, why not take the downgrade. Afterall, it's just a #2 RB and a #3WR...
