RB Davenport Injured Yesterday At Practice

Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - [Full Article]

RB Najeh Davenport was injured in practice yesterday and limped off the field with an ice bag wrapped around his lower right leg. Davenport has dressed but not played in the past two games since he signed with the Steelers on Sept. 8. HC Bill Cowher should update Davenport's injury today. If he cannot go, RB Duce Staley would likely dress for only his second game.

Packers | Davenport injured at practice Tuesday Published Tue Aug 22 11:30:00 p.m. ET 2006 (KFFL) Cliff Christl, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers RB Najeh Davenport (hip) pulled up on a running play and left practice Tuesday evening, Aug. 22, with a hip injury.we were discussing this in the Gado thread..but since Najeh is such a "sleeper" pick for the sharks, I thought i'd dedicate a thread to it
Gee, there's a shocking development.

sonofa! It's Yudkin's fault, he jinxed me here :D

In the GB running back musical chair system, maybe this is a good thing and he gets injured first and then when it's Ahman's and Gado's turn he's back healthy. That's not too wishful thinking is it?

Green Bay will employ a running back By Lottery system.

If you're in the Billy Mitchell Airport on Saturday and you have cleats, you may get a shot.

2 things of certainty: Davenport getting injured and a multitude of "poop" references ensuing after every mention of his name.

LOL. Yeah, kind of like "Vikings" and "Love Boat" east of the St. Croix River. Us fans of the Purple relish names like Davenport and Chmura....as it helps all those Packer-Backers know when to keep their yaps shut sometimes. ;)

Couldn't someone make a :davenport: "poop" smilie? Now THAT would be funny....LOL :D

What coincidence, Davenport just got injured on my Maddeen 2007, he's out 4-6 weeks on my game. :D l

Just a little tibit,

Davenpoop was the same way at UM. Always hurt.

Gore was the same way at UM always hurt.

Take that for what's it's worth.

HC McCarthy Not Happy With RB Davenport

Jason Wilde, Wisconsin State Journal - [Full Article]

Green Bay Packers HC Mike McCarthy sent a not-so-subtle message to oft-injured backup RB Najeh Davenport Thursday. The summary: Start spending more time on the field and less in the training room, or you won't be here. Davenport had just missed his second straight day of practice after sitting out Tuesday night's workout because of a strained hip flexor. The fifth-year running back also missed six practices earlier in camp with a calf injury. When asked whether Davenport will play in Monday night's game at Cincinnati, McCarthy replied, "Player injuries I really can't control. Obviously, you want to see him out there. He's competing for a roster spot."

Assume I've been under a rock for a month... what's up with the RBs there? What's the depth chart if they're all healthy, and what's the percentage chance for each that he'll be healthy on opening day?

100% Green is tehe guy if he's healthy. He's starting the Monday night game. Gado looks to be a lock for Green's backup, and Davenport, Herron, and some other kid whose name escapes me, are fighting for the 3rd spot, and most likely 1 roster spot.

At this point there is no lock on the backup to Green. The other back you are referring to is Arliss Beach. Also, Davenport has returned to practice. Also, here is an interesting note from practice yesterday. Herron and Arliss Beach worked as the No. 1 kickoff return tandem; Cory Rodgers and Ahmad Carroll as the No. 2 group; and Samkon Gado and Brewster as the No. 3s.Looks like the Packers are giving Beach a very decent chance at making this team.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Davenport gets dumped for Duce a few years after dumping a deuce?

Once again, WHY DO PEOPLE CARE ABOUT THE POOP?

Seriously. EVERY SINGLE YEAR someone brags about how they stole him in the draft before the Ahman Green owner could. Every single year this guy gets hurt either before playing a game, or within minutes of getting "his chance to shine"

This is repeat history. Over and over and over. The guy can NOT stay healthy. Poor Fred Taylor has been on peoples "do not ever draft list" for years, even when he started 45 something games straight.

Meanwhile, poopster gets traded and everyone begins clammoring about how long it will be until he is taking Parkers job and how Davenport will get his chance to shine.

Please people, if you want to waste your draftpicks, WW slot or whatever, keep expecting Davenport to do something.

Other than get injured.

Because that is ALL he has proven capable of. Year after year.

I think it's ironic that you used the word 'dump' twice in a sentence related to Davenport without seemingly any humorous intent.

Au contraire....I had a hard time between choosing "dumped" over "dropped", but felt that "dumped" just fit better, even though both work perfectly for the double entendre.
