CBS just crashed (1 Viewer)

Probably not the first thread on this, but I wanted to post this quickly to see if anyone else is experiencing this or if it is just my league. it's been slow all draft, but finally just locked everyone out and gave me a message saying they were experiencing technical difficulties.

Am supposed to be doing an NCAA draft right now, but can't get the draft room to update or allow me to que players. It just continues to ask me to sign in again.

My friend had serious problems with his 6:00 est draft and I had problems with my 7:30 draft....for $100 I deserve better...lesson learned.

We had bid problems last night (Sat). We are very dissapointed with CBS right now. Our league was divided into two seperate draft rooms. No good.

One of my leagues uses CBS and all the draft results are already loaded in, but I can't get to the site right now - the technical difficulties page came up. About 30 minutes now without being able to get in.

We are having an even weirder problem on CBS. A few of our owners can read each other in the chat portion of the draft room, but not others. Then, a couple of more can see each other but not the other group. I put in a help request, don't know if it will be answered before the end of our draft. :loco:

It has something to do with Java

That was exactly what happened...with some not being able to pick.We did most of it over MSN.It sucked.

And I just got back in...of course everyone else packed it in for the night, so it won't really do me any good.

Drafted on Sportsline for a league tonight.

WORST DRAFT ROOM EVER. Everything was crashing and picks would take forever to register.

Yahoo is far superior, and it's free.

MFL is great as well and is the best for dynasty leagues.

I did three drafts this past week, two on MFL and one on Sportsline.

The MFL drafts were flawless...no delays, no hiccups, nothing. Worked exactly as expected.

Sportsline was pathetic. I was bumped from the room about 10 times during the 18 round draft. Had to close the browser and click the link to join the draft again. Several others were also having problems. Fortunately, we had a VoIP conference set up, so we were able to mitigate the problems. Every year Sportsline has issues with system performance, be it the draft or the first week...they ALWAYS have issues.

This is why we left CBS this year, well not because of the draft room but because of the customer support.Example: We had our draft yesterday. Unbeknownst to me, without paying for the league you only get two rounds. So the draft stops, every one at the draft 12 of 14 in the room, are like WTF? I just went to the league home page and clicked on \"Live Customer Support\" and chatted with them. Had it payed for and resumed where we left off in ten minutes. Just in time for a smoke/bathroom/refill break.

It is happening again right now, site is experiencing technical difficulties.

First time this has happened to us in 6 years. Other than this time, I can't complain about the site too much. What about JAVA makes some people get in and others not?

Mine was down completely for about 2 mins near the tail end. Off and on I found it best to just keep right-clicking and hitting refresh, or closing out the room and reopening it, when I was six or seven slots before my next pick, just for safety's sake.

We had the exact same problem. 9 owners were in one room, 3 were in another. Both groups could see the others in their group on the chat box and when they picked, but not the other group. We finally just gave up and rescheduled. My league's payment is pending (had to go old school and send it smail mail and it hasn't been processed yet)... however, we are still on the trial period... are you telling me it is going to cut us off after 2 rounds? After tonight's debacle, if the draft stops after 2 rounds tomorrow night (assuming they get the bugs worked out) the league is going to go beszerk.Yes I know CBS is notorious for lousy draft rooms but this is the first problem we've had on this scale. Might be the last if this happens tomorrow. We have a backup mock set for Antsports just in case, and then I'll just get my money back and set up a free league somehwere for this year.

CBS Sportsline screwed up our draft so bad we had to cancel.

Draft room wouldn't load, no chat, different rooms/ chats for different owers, wouldn't update, kept turning auto pilot on and off, AND DIDN"T HAVE LARRY JOHNSON ON THE PLAYER LIST!!!

This is inexcuseable. It's not like this is their first year. We're asking for our money back.

No, sorry. We switched to from CBS. They helped us with the live chat feature.

You guys should simply KNOW this by now as we cover this every year.........

SPORTSLINE SUCKS

Higher Fees (MUCH), Less functionality, More bugs

I don't know if this is your problem but CBS has the following info in their Help section:

My page is not loading. Why am I getting a blank screen, "white screen of death", when I try to access your site?

It appears that a conflict between a recent Windows update (KB918899) and Internet Explorer's capability to process Java code is responsible for this problem. Microsoft released this update on August 8th which apparently generated the issue. Here is a link to a page that identifies both the problem with the update, and points to a new release expected in the near future, which should resolve the problem.

"Security update is crashing Internet Explorer when certain Web sites are viewed

Microsoft's security update from 8 August to Internet Explorer (IE) is causing browser trouble for some systems."

At this time, you may use FireFox or Netscape 7.2 and you should experience no difficulties while on our site. However, if you desire to use the I.E. browser, you would need to follow these steps until the corrective update is released.

I've used Sportsline from the begining and even back in their old days it wasn't like this...

For whatever reason there was a software conflict - I know nothing about this stuff but, someone said with Java, someone said With IE.... Whatever it was, CBS dropped the ball....

You put time into your draft plan, you get people together for 1 night which isn't easy to do and you wind up with a disaster... You have your lists, your dominator, all your prep and you can't even folow a draft - What a stressful situation, especially for the Commish.... I doubt some of my leagues would have played so many years if this was what drafting was like.

We had two Draft rooms as well.....

Anyone who hasn't drafted yet ****** If you have problems try having those people Clear their Browsers and Cookies, Reboot and then get back to the web site.

But, CBS is about to lose a lot of customers... There is no excuse for this and a lot of people just stayed with CBS because it was convenient for most owners who were there for years - NOW, it's not so convenient.

Like I said, Never had problems before.

 Bunch of liars. Way back in July I was checking out Sportsline because one of my leagues was thinking about returning to Sportsline. There were all sorts of things that I couldn't access because their servers were down. There may be other Java issues as well, but from what I experienced back in July and what people are saying here, it's not a problem getting everything to load initially, the software is just going screwy after that (or not able to get in because the servers are down). We had similar problems last year with our draft at AOL, but at least they were problems in a FREE league and not one that I payed $100+ for. Sportsline should be giving back substantial discounts to every single league that has encountered these issues.

It is a good reminder to have a backup draft plan though. Everyone in the league that I commish knows that if the website crashes, everyone is to sign onto AIM to finish the draft.

Try it with Firefox.

I had a ton of problems with Sportsline over IE until I downloaded Mozilla. The problems went away.

from 1 Misfit to another... we had a draft Saturday afternoon on CBS (my only CBS league, I can't get the guys to convert), and experienced a bit of slowness from time-to-time, but nothing seriouswe see this message evey year regarding CBS on either this Saturday or Sunday night, w/so many drafts taking place at oncebecause we're spread from MD to Hawaii, we draft noon eastern....just a thought!

while i can see the arguments for functionality, etc i really can't stand the whole higher fees point. seriously, $5 per team per year is essentially two slices of pizza and a coke, less than a decent six pack.

 I had a problem acessing the CBS site a few weeks ago. Downloaded Firefox on the advice of someone on this very board and it has worked flawlessly ever since.

I think his point is you can get a much better site for the same price or a little cheaper. If the league is shelling out money for a website, it should work flawlessly. MFL is around $70 for the year and it blows CBS sportsline out of the water. It has live scoring, league history, etc. Not only that they don't constantly spam you with emails like Sportsline does.

CBS has live scoring and league history too. And you can turn off the emails sent to you. The only emails I receive are trade offers.

This was over a month ago and I was trying to access the site with Firefox, so I KNOW that IE wasn't the problem.

I realize that, I'm just saying other sites have the same services as sportsline at a much cheaper price. It's been 5 years since I've been in a league that uses Sportsline and I still get emails from them all the time.

For those using IE6 SP1 and getting the white screen of death (incomplete page loads and browser errors), go to TOOLS ---> Internet Options and click on the advanced tab. Scroll down to the HTTP 1.1 options and uncheck the HTTP 1.1 box and click ok. Close all your browser windows and you should be able access the site properly.

Keep in mind this is just a work around until MS rereleases the MS06-042 to address the issues with IE6SP1 and I'm just providing the info... if you break your computer, I'm not fixing it :)

IE user (not by choice, work mandated): draft room doesn't update. gotta shut it down and re-enter to catch up on the picks.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat.
