Ahman Green's handcuff Is Herron, Not Gado (1 Viewer)

Reading Cliff Christal just now, he pointed out that Herron is listed as the #2, and indeed he is.

He can most likley be picked up off waivers in most leagues.

Just FYI for all you Green owners. Sorry if Honda.

this is pretty big news and i'm the first to reply? green is'nt a lock to finish the season healthy

(KFFL) The Wisconsin State Journal reports Green Bay Packers RB Samkon Gado, who rushed for a team-high 582 yards and six touchdowns last season, will be the backup to starting RB Ahman Green. RB Noah Herron, also in his second season, is the third running back.

The stated backup on the depth chart isn't always the guy who will get the carries if the starter goes down. Not saying it's necessarily the case here, but it wouldn't be a first if it went down that way. And I wouldn't be shocked, given the Gado emergence last season.

Not much to say on this. A few days ago I wrote that Gado wasn't a lock to hang onto the #2 RB spot for the Packers and got ripped by the Gado Lovers Clan that reside here including Noahs Trippers and Big Score(even though he claims to have me on ignore).I think we will see Gado and Herron serve as the #2 RB this year and it could have been Beach if he didn't get hurt. I'm also on record as stating I'd avoid drafting either as a handcuff for Green and would rather focus on other handcuffs like Musa Smith or Norwood.

I think it has to do with the fact A. Green is 3rd and maybe 4th RB for those taking a risk on owning him at all. Green honestly, is not a candidate to have an handcuff for most players.

may not be a candidate for a handcuff, but for back to be listed as a number 2 behind a guy that is coming off of an injury of the magnitude that green is, i thought there would be a lot more buzz about a potential starter. that's all

:goodposting: Some teams list their 3rd down back as the 2nd on the depth chart, with the "true backup" listed 3rd. What would clarify this would be someone who could tell us whether Herron is the 3rd down back. If he's not, then Gado's 3rd string status would appear to be confirmed.

With the Packers starting a couple of rookies on the OL, very few people have anticipation that the rushing attact this year is going to be anything worth writing home about. The other thing, is that like many back-up situations once the clear starter goes down just because one guy is list as the 2nd, that does not mean he is going to get all of the carries or have the talent to be a fantasy factor. That said, this type of information carries more weight for fantasy (redraft) owners in Week 7 when not only Green gets injuried, but the several RBs are on bye weeks or have thier own injuries. Much of the Gado craze of 2005 was because of the timing of being able to get a warm body late in the fantasy season.

If Ahman is injured this year Gado is the player to have on your roster. Gado has been slow to adjust to the zone blocking scheme so far, but he'll get the first crack at the job if you have the roster space. Noah Herron is nothing but a flier in very large leagues (like Zealots 53 man roster type leagues) with very limited upside.

McCarthy didn't specify on Friday whether Samkon Gado or Noah Herron would be the No. 2 running back behind Ahman Green. He said it depends on what the offense will want to do when Green needs a rest, but he anticipates both Gado and Herron will play.

"We'll play to Samkon's strengths and Noah's strengths," McCarthy said. "Some people use running-back-by-committee,...it will be based on what we're doing."

I stated this could be the case and the Gado Lovers Clan tried to rip me. :lmao:
