I have Moss, Lamont and Brooks starting tonight .....crazy i know. Brooks' last game against SF was very pretty, espcially since he hooked up w/ Moss a few times, but I'm just not really sure of what to think.

Any ideas from all (or fellow Raider love-fest-ees) on how the Raiders offense may look tonight?

I think Oak will need Moss adn Brooks badly in this game. They can't stop the run and LT should have a field day.

easy. dont jinx it. f it. this stuff has nothing to do with jinxes.

i wonder how Jordan will do against SD run defense minus Gunshot Foley.

I have Moss, Lamont and Brooks starting tonight .....and they need to make up 30 points for me.
Thanks for the update.... I was really struggling to get to sleep last night wondering how you fared for this week. Good to know ya still have a shot

yeah, I'm expecting/hoping this to be a big shootout, just hope that Brooks can somehow tame his gunslinger, Brett-Favreish tendencies and actually "operate" the Raiders O like any normal QB.

i am curious to see who the #2 WR for the raiders is.

i am also curious to see if courtney anderson looks like a legit weapon.

but ron curry is out there on the waiver wire and is intriguing.

will it be him, porter or will it really be whitted?

How did you manage to end up with all three? :o I sure hope this is a dynasty roster. Moss is indeed :moneybag: in prime time, but Porter is in the dog house and if he's not on the field Moss will get full attention from the defense. San Diego's D is brutal against the run. Aaron Brooks is . . . well . . . you could end up with 300 yards and 3 TD's or 150 yards and no TD's and 2 INT's. Just pretend it's the California Lottery with him. I would say it's even money as to whether you'll win your game tonight.

I'm sure you were struggling with things last night--- I posted for other Raiders owners with worries

Please provide your thoughts, pre, during and after the game.

Remember that not everyone will be watching this game, so if you could provide detailed analysis it would be much appreciated.

Things like 'Go Reggie' aren't what we are looking for.

Why will team X win?

Who is the QB targetting?

How are the lines looking?

Who's running the ball well?

Who looks in over his head?

Who's injured (also reference this in the injury thread which will be created once the sunday games are live)

Anything that you think will be of benefit to someone not watching the game or who doesn't care about your fantasy team.

Post game analysis, in particular is what we want to see.

Go for it

im more interested in how Gates is used, will Rivers look to him early and often??

you know lt2 will get his, you know brooks will throw plenty of picks.. you know moss will cry, those are all givens.

I'm very excited about this game.

I realize the big draw for many people will be seeing how Rivers does, but that's not the main point of interest for me....

For those who haven't seen much of him yet, keep an eye out for Charger nickel back Antonio Cromartie. I wasn't sold on him coming out of the draft, but after watching him in preseason - wow! He may make some rookie mistakes, but he's electric (no pun intended, really) and makes things happen when he's in there. For you fans of the game, try and watch him a few plays even if he ends up off the ball, you won't be disappointed.

Also I think it will be nice for the Chargers' defense to get a chance to shine in prime time. They haven't been getting much notice but I think they're going to be a very good unit this year, and they're going to make it tough for Brooks and Jordan to breathe tonight.

Huge day for LT. Moderate day for Rivers, at least one TD and at least one bad INT. Brooks could put up 300 yards, 2+TD and 2+INT playing from behind. Jordan won't do much.

Is this Raider team any better than the one Collins ran last year that only was able to put 24 points up in 2 games against the Chargers?

I am very curious to see how Huff is used by the Raiders. He is listed and has been used as both a CB and S during the preseason. The guy is a freakish athlete and I have to wonder where/when he line-ups and who he checks.

For example, do the Raiders dare leave him with Gates the first day at the office? Will he rotate from CB to S on specific downs? Can he keep Gibson off the field? Will he be used in an active S role...think Troy P...or be more of a read and react role...S. Taylor?

If Brooks winds up with 300+ and 2 scores, I'd venture to say that Lamont has a solid chance to go over 100 total yards.

I'm really interested to see the gameplans from both teams when the Chargers have the ball.

The Chargers would like to establish the run. But I believe the Raiders will overplay the run at the beginning of the game and invite Rivers to throw the ball.

In response, I'm eager to see whether the Chargers try to run anyway (after all, teams have made it a top priority to shut down for years, but it's easier said than done), or whether they will "take what the Raiders give them" and exploit single coverage on Gates/McCardell/Parker/Jackson.

The first series, and indeed the first play, will be telling. I'd love to see playaction on the first play.

I agree 100%. I expect to see HEAVILY stacked lines against the run, and lots of blitzes thrown in to try and rattle Rivers.

I can't wait to see their D either. They are really developing some special talent between Castillo, Merriman and possibly Cromartie. They are exciting to watch.

Come out throwing the ball Phil. gates early LT late.

Yes, I'm looking forward to Randy Moss welcoming the rookie into the league tonight. :D

A win would be nice, but I'm willing to settle for baby steps in this rebuilding process.

STEP #1: Don't let L.T. completely humiliate the defense. Again. Even holding him to under 150 total yards would be an accomplishment. Thomas Howard is athletic enough to bother Gates a little bit, so the defense should be able to give LT their full attention.

STEP #2: Limit the turnovers. Having Aaron Brooks as our QB doesn't make this plan all that realistic, but I hope he at least makes an effort to take care of the ball better than he did in New Orleans.

STEP #3: Continued, steady success in the kicking game and special teams.

STEP #4: Connect deep early in the game to Moss, opening up some running lanes for Jordan.

I have a rooting intere$t in Aaron Brooks having a better fantasy year than Drew Bledose, so I'm anxious to see how he gets the year started. With Bledsoe being so bad :X yesterday, I could only be so lucky as to have Brooks not throw 4 interceptions and 6 backward passes.

I'm interested in what kind of gameplan Marty puts together. Last year out of the gate the Chargers got a little too cute with all the passing and didn't rely on LT enough and it cost them. On the flipside the Raiders will obviously want to take LT away and see what Rivers can do. I for one am predicting alot of screens and dumps to LT. I also expect a ton of balls going to Gates.

As for the Charger defense, I would think the Raiders are going to need to at least try to establish some kind of running game. If they go all out pass, Brooks is going to get killed by the 3rd Q.

Let's hope so. Got LT and Gates going tonight. Just hope I can stay up to watch the whole game.

I'm down 6.

I have LT.

He has Moss.

No point per reception/ 10 yards per pt/ 6pts all TDs. Any predictions?

I'm looking forward to seeing Michael Huff as well. Will he be replacing Schweigert, playing alongside him, or coming off the bench?

Yeah, you will be :wall:  :hot: all night because LT will have a great game and you will think you have won easily, but Moss will just keep catching passes enough to scare the daylights out of you. :scared:

They have been under the radar all summer. They won't be after tonight.

yeah, I think you're fine, I have no doubt LT will mow down the Raiders line over the course of the game, I'm not sure Lamont will mow down much of anything on the otherside unfortunately for me.

Combinded in 2 Games last year Brees through for just a shade over 300 yards, 3 TDs and no INT. If Rivers can take care of the ball LT, Gates and the D will take care of the rest.

Huge difference Brees experienced QB now.. Rivers new.. I do believe the Raiders will focus on stopping LT... If they are going to lose it will be in the air. Yet I think the Raiders D is getting a bit better. Should see more turnovers this year..

I am looking forward to Shawne Merriman welcoming Aaron Brooks into the AFC West. Just ask Priest Holmes about the warm welcome he recived from "Lights Out".

Raiii-derrrs! Raiii-derrrs!

Just a reminder that you can help make the First Drive Experiment a success on Monday night. To recap, the goal is to chant the familiar “Raiii-derrrs” war cry during San Diego's first offensive drive in order to freak out Philip Rivers and the Chargers; to pump up our team; and to serve notice to a national television audience that the Raider Nation is still loud and proud.

This idea has been met with considerable enthusiasm on several Raiders sites and forums. I have also received several emails about it (thanks to Chris P. for today’s email). As stated before, I think there are three keys to making it happen:

1. Keep the concept simple by focusing on the first drive. The chant might emerge at other points in the game, but the initial concept needs to be clear and simple in order to get the word out.

2. Spread the word. You can click on the email icon below to quickly send this take to all of your Raider Nation friends. I encourage other Raiders forums and outlets to also run with this idea and help spread the word. It won’t happen unless we can get reach a critical mass of fans.

3. Get the Oakland Raiders organization involved. How can we get the team to flash “Raiii-derrs” on the scoreboard during the Chargers’ first offensive drive? That would really help get the crowd into it. If anyone has the right connections, please speak up.

Wouldn’t it be cool if we could pull it off? Personally, I would freak out. Imagine 60,000 fans chanting “Raiii-derrrs” in unison to kick off the season.

Last time Aaron Brooks faced the Bolts, comedy gold, everytime I watch it.--> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS4Gs5USLtg

LT pretty much does everything in these games. Marty always finds a way to get him the ball. Expect a lot of screens and sweeps if Oakland stacks the line. LT above anyone always steps it up in Oakland. Even by his standards.

I've gone to these games now the last three years running and it seems the Raiders fans have a love-hate relationship with LT. They will cuss and swear at Brees and their D when Gates or McCardell make a big play, but they generally praise LT. Not that they like him running all over them, but they seem to have a great deal of admiration for what he does. It's kind of strange. I think they've come to expect it :lmao: .

Fixed.
It will be a full house tonight.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Jordan will have to get it going early. The loss of Foley weakened the Chargers' run defense, but Phillips is a better pass rusher, even better than Merriman imo. Brooks is going to get killed if those LBs get a chance to tee up on the pass blitzes.
