Cole finished 2005 strong and picked up where he left off, however he's still listed behind Kearse and Howard and being used mostly as a situational pass rusher. He's fast off the edge, spots the ball quickly, and makes the play. With PHI looking strong on O, the opposition may be passing a lot, meaning we may see a lot of Cole. If Kearse or Howard are injured, Cole's value goes way up.

Finnegan could bear watching but most of his production came on a single play where he was unblocked. He's behind a host of decent linebackers and alongside a better player in Chris Hope even if he sends Lamont Thompson to the bench. (ETA: Finnegan actually looks to have lined up more at slot corner than an extra zone coverage back. Despite Thompson's poor play, Finnegan probably isn't a threat)Miller has been discussed more than Thomas Davis if possible and really only has value in leagues with return yards.Cole is another player I'll be addressing in my column this week. He's a guy to have on your radar for sure. He got significant PT this week and has shown evidence of being a two way guy in the past. Since neither Howard nor Kearse are pillars of durability, Cole is a guy you may want to move on sooner than later.

The Redskins had high hopes Demetric Evans this year as he was in line to push Renaldo Wynn out of a starting job before the Redskins signed Andre Carter. He just turned 27 and this is his 5th year in the league. Signed through 2008, with Phillip Daniels getting old, he could have some value.

McCardell to test Finnegan

While playing for Division I-AA Samford, Cortland Finnegan thought a crowd of 8,000 was hostile.

When the Titans rookie cornerback checked the surroundings in his first NFL game Sunday, he couldn't help but think of how far he'd come.

His fourth quarter sack of Jets quarterback Chad Pennington, which resulted in a fumble at the 1, was one of the biggest plays of the game.

"I appreciate where I am,'' Finnegan said. "But I know I still have a lot of work to do.''

The seventh-round pick gave himself a grade of C-minus for his first NFL start.

He also realized it won't be long before offenses begin testing him, and it could happen as soon as Sunday in San Diego.

As the nickel back — the fifth defensive back on the field — he is expected to get a lot of work against 15-year veteran receiver Keenan McCardell, who regularly lines up in the slot.

"That's why practice is so crucial and watching film is so crucial, because there's a lot of crafty slot receivers,'' Finnegan said. "There's going to be a time and place when that will happen, when they'll test me, and I just have to be ready for it."

Finnegan said film study of McCardell revealed he "does a lot of things you have to be ready for. I look at it as it's a positive for myself to be able to play against a guy like that in my first year.''
