I'm looking for insight on these players that had nice Week 1's, but whom aren't being discussed much:
Trent Cole DE PHI -- 2 T, 1 A, 2 sacks, 1 PD.
Cortland Finnegan S TEN -- 1 FF, 1 PD, 5 T, 1 A, and 1 sack.
Kevin Mathis S ATL -- 1 FF, 3 PD, 6 T.
Demetric Evans DE WAS -- 1 FF, 1 PD, 2 T, 1 sack.
Justin Miller CB NYJ -- 2 PD, 3 T, 2 A.
Jason Simmons S HOU -- 1 INT, 1 PD, 2 T, 1 A.
None are starters, some are DEEP on the FBG's depth chart, and none were mentioned in Culcasi fabulous IDP Perspective. If you've seen any of these guys, know why they're playing, how they're playing, or if you've got any insight, please share, we can't let these gems slip by. And of course, feel free to add any other notables from week 1.
I'll kick it off with Trent Cole, the only one I know about. Cole finished 2005 strong and picked up where he left off, however he's still listed behind Kearse and Howard and being used mostly as a situational pass rusher. He's fast off the edge, spots the ball quickly, and makes the play. With PHI looking strong on O, the opposition may be passing a lot, meaning we may see a lot of Cole. If Kearse or Howard are injured, Cole's value goes way up.
