Game Thread W2 - Cleveland V Cincinnati (1 Viewer)

Andy Hicks

Footballguy
Welcome to Week 2

Once the game kicks off this thread will be pinned, but for now it will run on its own merits.

Please provide your thoughts, pre, during and after the game.

Remember that not everyone will be watching this game, so if you could provide detailed analysis it would be much appreciated. ***PLEASE BE CIVIL***

Things like 'Go Reggie' aren't what we are looking for.

Why will team X win?

Who is the QB targetting?

How are the lines looking?

Who's running the ball well?

Who looks in over his head?

Who's injured (also reference this in the injury thread which will be created once the sunday games are live)

Anything that you think will be of benefit to someone not watching the game or who doesn't care about your fantasy team.

Post game analysis, in particular is what we want to see.

Go for it

Browns TE Kellen Winslow said earlier this week that CB Leigh Bodden would shut down Bengals WR Chad Johnson in their upcoming game in Cincinnati. "I told him that I didn't think he should speak for Leigh Bodden," Romeo Crennel said. "He should let Leigh Bodden speak for himself in that situation." Crennel said the Browns know Winslow's personality. "I don't think that he can play defensive back, and I don't know what his abilities would be at that position."
:lmao:

if the Browns have effectively re-grouped this week, the game won't be a blowout, but Cincinnati will win this game, even if they have to do it on the ground like they did game one.

Good to see David Pollack moving his hands and legs after that hit. Lucky he didn't break his neck!

Anybody watching this?

Is it as one sided as it looks after the first quarter?

Chad Johnson with his first TD of the season

So much for Palmer not playing until week 6, he's looking very solid. Spreading the ball to all his WRs. CIN bomb to C Henry. BEAUTIFUL throw to Henry.

13 of 18 204yds / 2 TD Yds for Palmer so far.

They've tried going to Edwards short a few times but he dropped one and the other times has been covered well by the Bengals "D".

The Browns best player has been the punter.

Looking less and less likely like Maurice Carthon is going to cut it as OC of the Browns. Even this past week, there was dicussion on Cleveland sports talk radio about how you go about replacing one. You don't new OC's brought in at midseason. Sometimes head coaches take over the play-calling - but is Crennel capable of handling those duties?

1st down - run up the gut for 2.

2nd down - fake toss left then short lob right to TE, but zone coverage and no tackles broken, 3rd and 6.

3rd down - pass deep left to an open Edwards. Edwards has to jump high but brings it down for a first.

1st down - pass to winslow over the middle I think for a second and short

2nd down - missed it but first down

1st down - frye blitzed and about to sacked - but frye fumbles and Bengals recover.

1st down - Matt Stewart comes free up the middle and sacks Palmer fora loss of 9

2nd 19 - handoff to rudi johnson for 8 and 3rd and 11

On first down, Frye does his Elway impression again, scrambling around and changing direction about 3 times making like 5 defenders miss him and then finally deciding to run for a first down.

Hey guys......I can't see the game...............just curious why the Bengals aren't pounding Rudi? He seems to be getting solid gains every time they give him the ball. Are they just getting the "rust" off of Carson Palmer or is there a reason they're not running the ball?

next first down, Frye rolls out right and short pass right to Winslow who bulls over a guy for a 1st

1st down - simple run up the middle by Droughns for 2.

2nd and 8 - throws to Edwards - its a little behind him I think but it hit his hands and was dropped - almost picked - would have been a first down.

3rd and 8 - blitz - dump off short left to Droughns - tackled for a 2 yard gain

punt time

On the punt, Cribbs runs into the guy trying to field the ball at the 10.

First down Bengals at their 23.

First down - Rudi runs left for 5.

2nd down - Palmer throws deep left to Henry who juggles it but hauls it in.

1st down at Cin 39 - Rudi runs right but nowhere to go as the Browns swarm it.

2nd down - quick pass to Chad Johnson to the right for a first down.

1st down - pass sideline deep right to Chad Johnson - overthrown and well-covered by Bodden

2nd down and 10 from cin 49 - Rudi Johnson up the middle - completely stuffed for no gain. Its been tough for the Bengals to run up the middle on Washignton and friends.

3rd and 10 - pass deep middle to Chris Henry for a mile - 1st down somewhere around the Browns 20.

Browns are stacking up the line of scrimmage, so the Bengals are still airing it out a bit.

2nd down safety Brodney Pool sacks Palmer.

Browns under Crennel have been stingy in the red zone - they need that to conitnue.

Palmer sacked for a 3rd (4th?) time. Offensive line is hurting without Levi Jones and Rich Braham.

However, Palmer doesn't seem phased. Rolled out on the very next play and delivered a nice pass to Henry that was dropped.

1st down cle 24 - DEEP DEEP DEEP pass left to BRAYLON EDWARDS 1v1 coverage - outruns his man - down to the Bengals 1 yard line!

75 yard pass!

First and goal!

75 yards to Edwards. Nice throw, catch and run by Frye/Edwards.

Probably too little too late.

My view of the season was they must go 5-0 vs the bad clubs (Saints, Raiders, Jets, Chiefs, Texans) - everything else is house money. Not expecting a win against the Bengals in Cincy.

1st down - Frye throws it away basically to the right

Personal foul - roughing the passer - hitting Frye below the knee - 1st and goal inside the 1.

1st down Bengals at CIN 20 - Rudi Johnson runs left for 20 yards

Injury TO - One of the Browns is down

Rudi johnson 3 carries for 46 yards this drive.

Pass deep right - CB Gary Bexter called for PI

First and goal at the 1

Rudi Johnson for 1 and touchdown.

27-10 Bengals
