Game Thread W3 - Chicago V Minnesota (1 Viewer)

I will qualify this by saying that I am a Bears fan, but I think this won't be much of a game. I have been listening, on Sirius, to lots of people jumping on the Viking bandwagon. I think the Vikings have a very good offensive line and their defense is getting better. But they have an average running back, an average QB, and a weak receiving corp. They are 2-0, but they beat a terrible Redskin team and were given a gift by the Panthers. I think the Bears win this by 14 at least.

20-17 Bears in overtime.

The Bears struggle in the Dome up there. Haven't won since 2001. A game in which they held the Vikings without a TD. A very tall order back then...

As a Bears fan, I am a bit worried about this game. The Vikings will prove to be much tougher than GB or DET. The fact that we haven't won at Minnesota in a while doesn't bode well either.

That being said, I think the Bears are a better team. I say they squeak this one out 17-10.

Bears come in lean, mean and VERY confident. Vikings come in knowing they're squeaking by on fumes.

Dome or no dome, the Bears offense is clicking right now and the defense....oh that defense.

Bears 24, Vikes 13

and those wins are so much less impressive than the Bears beating who again? Oh yeah, the Lions and Packers.

I agree, but the Bears completely dominated those games. They have impressed me so far. What I have seen from the Vikings doesn't.

 The Vikings have beaten two definite playoff contenders in their first two games while the Bears have dominated two #### teams. What's more impressive? I'd call it a wash. Should be a dogfight to the end. As a Vikes fan I hate to say it but I see the Bears winning by 3 in a low scoring affair.

Yes they beat them, but by no stretch of the imagination did they dominate them, they just squeeked by. They beat Washington by a field goal in the last minute of the game, and it's a fact that that stupid special teams play by the Panthers is what turned the game for them.I can't see how their two wins are more impressive than the complete domination by the Bears, of teams they should have beat.Face it, the Bears Defense, combined with a scoring offense is going to give other teams nightmares this year.

I'll go against conventional wisdom and say that the Vikings do pretty well against the Bears 27-21.

Here's the game from last year

I think Vikings are better on offense and so are the Bears - both teams will throw more than expected.
ummmmmmmm the Bears rested most of their starters that game ( which was a bad idea) , so you can't use that game for a comparison of what will happen this year, they played our 2nd string.

No offense but Washington without Portis is not even a 8-8 team. Carolina is a good team that is battling a lot of injuries right now. From an Eagles fan and a Childress fan - Chicago 20-10.Willie

Chi shuts down the vikes but I think the vikes are a playoff contender. Veteran qb play + great o line + good running game and up and comer williamson. As an eagles fan I like childress and I think the vikes are the 2005 skins.

It will probably be close up until halftime then I see the Bears putting the nail in the coffin with a couple of long bombs.

Bears 28

Vikings 13

not a lot of Bears homers, but a lot of realistic football fans that realize the bears are simply a better team. only thing that might give the vikes the win is that they are playing in their home court and the bears have always had problems there.

:goodposting: The Bears are the better team but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they lose this game.

Very funny. When I came into this thread and saw who was posting, it felt like walking into Cubby Bears and ordering an Old Style.Fine Bear fans all, you , bullitt, sister havana, and grid. Good posters and likeable.

But each an every one of you have a Ditka shrine in your basement and can be found eating a 26LB Chicago pizza talking about '85 on any given weekend.

Bunch of Bears' fans? Time for a wake up call. Vikes drunk by 4.
Fixed. :)
4?I'll take the under. These socially inept liquor pigs are hammered by 10 AM

These are Viking fans we're talking about.

"Alright! A half full bottle of Listerine! Let's get this tailgating party started!"

Most of these inbreds will have no clue they are at kickoff.

Christ, at kickoff if you give a Viking fan a blood test and there would be a damn olive in it.

And don't even start with the post game recovery

"What's that? A broken Heineken bottle? Zzz...."

"I slept like a log.

Umm...actually you slept on a log"

ALOT of Bears homers here.I'll put up sig bets to anyone that the Vikes take this game.
If the Pats were playing the Jets this weekend and everyone was talking about the Pats winning, would you chalk that up to "Pats homers" and their wishful thinking ??
Comparing the Bears franchise to the Pats is as big a streach as comparing the Vikings to the Jets. And I do not think the compitition and rivalry between the those AFC least teams is any where comparable either so  :bye:

Aren't the Bears 2-0 against a terrible Packer team and a terrible Lions team?.Thomas Jones is no more average than Chester Taylor in reality. Is Grossman an average QB yet, or still just a bad one? Is he good now because of the strong corp the Bears have?If you think that the Bears will win by 14, I will take the Vikes +14 for any amount of money you want.

Are you f'in kidding me?! Washington in their current state and Carolina without Steve Smith are NOT playoff contendors. Sorry, but no f'ing way. IMO rhose teams, in that state, don't win at Detroit.

I gave up on the "cubby bear" back in 95-96 when they would advertise on their sign on the front of the building " Cubby Bear, home of the GreenBay packers, watch the packers here" :X :yucky: I haven't stepped in there since.

26lb pizza??? you must be talking about a small, thin crust!! :lmao: Definitely a Bears homer, but I don't see how the Vikes would score more than 16 pts at best. The Bears Defensive players are not happy with how they have played the last two games and will be looking to turn it up another notch. I think they will come out even more agressive against the Vikes, but I don't think the game will be a blowout like the last two this season, I hope so, but I don't think it will be.Bears 142Vikes 6 :lmao: Bears 24Vikes 9

This should be a hard fought game.Bears 11 Vikings 9 in OT
Safety in OT eh?
I still think the Vikings are one of the most over-rated teams in the league. I think the Bears will manhandle the Vikings.
How can the Vikings be overated if every thinks their mediocre? I dont like either team but think both are very efficient teams offensively. I give the edge to the bears in this game because of their defense.20-10 Bears win

Should be a real test for the Bears, Vikes are a good little team. Just no in the same league as the Bears yet

Bears 20

Vikes 10

The Bears are in a weak division. The entire team will be up for this game as everyone here in Chicagoland has been talking about how the Vikings are the only team that has an outside chance to unseat them for a division crown.

The defense and special teams have actually improved with the addition of rookies Danieal Manning at FS and Devin Hester at KR. And that is actually a scary thought if you are drinking from your horn this weekend. :banned:

On the other side, the Vikes have already been hurt by injuries - Chad Greenway, Tank Williams, and now Erasmus James (all starters) are already on IR. On the offensive side, Troy Williamson will play but he is hurting with a shoulder injury.

Like in the first two games, the Bears defense will get stops and turnovers giving the offense a short field all day long.

Bears 24

Vikings 10

All of you Bears homers seem to forget that this is the NFC North. Records and team strengths don't mean a thing when it comes down to it. Vikings/Bears is only one of the biggest rivalries in the NFL and it doesn't matter who is the "stronger" team.

That said, I am a Vikings homer, but I also give the Bears alot of credit for a very strong defense and an offense that is starting to show a little life. This game is being played in the Dome however and I think that does give a definate advantage to Minnesota. It will be a good old fashioned "NFC Centeral" (Black and Blue division) game. Vikings win 13-10 because it is being played in the dome. If this game was in Chicago, I would say Bears win

Bears fans are kidding themselves if they think this will be an easy victory. Winning on the road against anyone but the Raiders is no small feat. The Vikings will give the Bears every thing that they can handle...And then some.

Bears 23

Vikings 21
