We can only cut players 3 weeks out of the year - after weeks 4, 8 and 12. So if I want to cut Bell, now is the time to do it. With byes and what-not, it would be nice to have someone I can confidently play on a regular basis in his spot. But is it too early to give up on him?

I think I am cutting bait this week. LenDale White or Morency (also own Ahman Green and have a killer bye week situation).

Keeping him so far. There are some interesting WW recievers in my league but nothing for RB's. The best out there was Morency but he was gone last week.

First off, at the very *WORST*, Mike Bell = Jerious Norwood, Brandon Jacobs, or Michael Turner. He's a backup who might be worth an occassional spot-start against hapless teams, and who will probably become a top-10 fantasy back if the guy ahead of him goes down (a distinct possibility in all 4 cases, due to size and workload issues). If Turner/Norwood/Jacobs are rostered in your league, Bell should be too (I know there are some extremely shallow leagues where these guys aren't worth a roster spot).
At the very *BEST*, Mike Bell is still a shareholder in the Denver rushing game and could very easily still average 12+ carries per game from here on out. Tatum Bell might have been the #2 back in Denver, but he still finished as a top-24 RB. Same deal here, potentially. And if Mike Bell fails to live up to that potential... well, like I said, at the very worst he's Michael Turner v2.0.

Mike Bell is an RB 3/4, who's a Tatum injury or fumbles away from RB2. To me that is worth back ups at other positions. Now if a starter could be had then do it, but if it's depth at other positions I'd hang onto Bell.

Our league goes pretty deep, but we can only roster 4 RBs. I dropped MMorris and picked up LWhite.I agree that Bell still holds some value; I don't want to turn this into another TBell vs. MBell thread, but as more injuries occur and other guys emerge, it's interesting to see who people are willing to cut.

As SSOG said, at worst he is a back up to starter who has not yet proven to run away with the job, and a coach who will make the switch at any time.
That translates into lots of potential.

I will only say that 'if' you decide to release Mike....you'd be smart to see what the Tatum owner is willing to give for him. I think there's a good chance that you could get something better than you would otherwise find on the waiver wire.
In one of my leagues yesterday...Mike went to the Tatum owner in exchange for Barlow.
The owner who has Tatum is the owner who will value Mike the most.

I just don't know. I have Rudi, Westbrook, Deuce McAllister, Mike Bell, and LenDale. Buckhalter is still out there and I would have to drop one of those guys to pick up CBuck. I'm still torn on this.

I think I'd keep both Bell and White over Bucky. Even if Westbrook is out for an extended period, it's a pretty crowded Eagles backfield. And Buckhalter didn't exactly help his chances with the two first half fumbles at the goal line. And...I thought Moats looked good with his chances.

No.Well, he won't be a goal-line specialist. He won't get a disproportionate share of the goal-line work. He might get a few GL carries in the line of duty as a CoP back or spelling Tatum when he needs a breather, but he's not going to be a "goal line back" unless Tatum noticeably struggles in that regard and Mike proves that he's capable of doing it better.
