Waiver Wire Gems - Week 12 edition (1 Viewer)

Lambert

Footballguy
McNabb - out for the season

Backup = Garcia ... Consensus seems to be he's not going to be worth a great deal going forward unless you just really need a body and don't have anyone else.

Lamont Jordan - out in 1st half, injury status unclear

Backup - Huggy Bear Fargas ... had 19 rushes for 52 yds, and any starting RB is worthy of a pickup, but even if Lamont has a serious injury, I don't see Fargas being a big fantasy producer on the Raider offense.

Kevin Jones - out in 1st half - for Xrays, awaiting results

Backup - ?? Aveion Cason seems to have taken over so far, but they also have Arlen Harris ... any Detroit homers have insight on the value of either of these two?

Marques Colston - out, possible high ankle sprain

Backup - Devery Henderson ... Colston could be just fine next week, but if he's out for an extended period, Henderson could be an excellent pickup.

DeShaun Foster - out - Xrays, awaiting results

Backup - DeAngelo Williams ... he's probably rostered already depending on the size of your league, but if not, I'd definitely grab him.

Favre - left game with numbness in arm, but apparently is expected to return next week

Backup - Aaron Rodgers - doesn't seem like a very good prospect in the short term

Your thoughts?

I would think Colston would miss at least a week or two with that high ankle sprain. Cotton wouldn't be a bad pickup either.

Arlen Harris - KJ has a possible high ankle sprain so arlen is the starter now?

Jason Wright - Rueben Droughns is injured and Jason had an exceptional game considering he was facing the steelers

These are probably good pickups in deeper leagues (like mine).

Who else should be picked up?

Terrence Copper? Deep leagues only obviously.Fargas, though Crockett might score more.

Charlie Frye if he's out there. Since Davidson took over as the OC, the offense as a whole has looked much better and they are taking advantage of their weapons and Frye's mobility.

Jeff Garcia - has the potential to be great.
:lmao:
 he had some great years in SF. He's on an offense now which is much better then the teams he has played with since the SF years.
And he is much, much older now.
189/1 in 3 quarters while being rusty and taking no snaps with the first team during practice this week isn't too bad. I wouldn't expect great numbers, but he'll probably be better than several others like Harrington, BJohnson, Losman.

Garcia threw it 48 times though

I know. Maybe with some reps in practice he'll be a little more comfortable out there.

Damien Nash, anyone?
I don't want any part of the Denver backfield. Might miss out on something great, but, more likely, will just save myself some headaches over guys who aren't playing.
Seriously. It's a mess there. Even in my league where there's nothing left (Maurice Hicks is the top scoring non kicker left) I'm not touching Nash.
you still dont want to touch nash? good burst, breaking tackles... me likey. check out this week's dynasty watch for a little more about him.

He looks pretty good, but unfortunately MBell has both of the scores. And next week I'd expect Tater to be back. Nash will be the 3rd option.

I'm thinking maybe Joey Harrington. looked at his averages for my league and they dont look to shabby at around 20 fantasy points a game. Playoff weeks of Buffalo, Jets, and Indy(wk17) seem to be pretty nice matchups depending on Culpepper coming back or not.

edit: Yes being form Detroit it pains me to post this.

Nice attempt to fumble the game away in the 4th quarter last week...I'll give him props as a receiving back, but he's got a long way to go and the Bells are this team's best chance of success right now (and I fully expect them to draft another RB in the offseason).

If KJ is out for awhile, IMO Calhoun will be the guy to have. Since DETs season is in the toilet, may as well get the early-round rookie some PT ahead of the journeyman vet. Seems like Calhoun would be a better fit for the offense too -- he's a heckuva pass-catching threat.EDIT: disregard the crappy advice above. Calhoun on IR as of a couple weeks ago.

Feely? Did anyone see that guy in Miami? I think Wanny gave up a third rounder for him. He had a couple good games for the Eagles a few years ago but come on.

Copper has some issue hanging onto the ball.

Look for Henderson to take a larger role if Colston is out for an extended period of time.

Whats everyones take on Devery hendrson? ...... especially if Colston is out for a couple weeks
I like Henderson alot.IIRC he scored on a reverse during the first game of the year.He is a big target and should see more looks than Copper who had problems hanging onto the ball yesterday.Hopefully Colston is OK though.

Ingle Martin - I really think he is the future for the Packers at QB - moreso than Aaron Rodgers. With there being a chance that #4 sits out this weekend and Rodgers likley gone for the year, Martin will get a chance to show us his athletic ability and smarts.

Jeff Garcia - has the potential to be great.

He was playing the worst defense in the NFL and the Eagles were home. That was as easy as it's gonna get for him. If you have no other choices definitely pick him up, I just wouldn't expect much.

??? Any link to that Rodgers news? I can't find anything saying that so far.

Unfortunately, that is the case. Losing McNabb is gonna hurt. And being a short week due to Thursday games, waivers cutoff tomorrow night. Gotta decide whether it'll be Garcia or Feeley. I'm seeing what you guys are saying, that Garcia just isn't good. He won't complete many passes over 15 yards. Maybe they'll go with Feeley.

from CBSSportsline:Aaron Rodgers, QB GBNews: The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Packers backup QB Aaron Rodgers was hobbling around in the locker room after the team's Week 11 loss vs. the Patriots, and speculation is that he has a serious foot injury. He didn't talk to reporters after the game, and McCarthy didn't even bring up Rodgers' name at the postgame press conference.Analysis: Rodgers shouldn't be owned in Fantasy play to begin with as he's not a capable replacement for Favre even if Favre were to miss playing time.

I don't think there's anything yet saying he's out for the year. Probably just speculating based on what's out there already.
