Maroney update (1 Viewer)

FOXBORO - The Lions found one way to slow Laurence Maroney - crack him in the head. Maroney absorbed a helmet-to-helmet hit on the Patriots' seventh play from scrimmage in their 28-21 win yesterday and did not return. The team announced he had the wind knocked out of him, but judging from the fact he never reappeared on the sideline, it's more likely he was seeing stars. Coach Bill Belichick did not make the injury sound serious. "He's doing all right," Belichick said. "I talked to him in there. He's banged up a little, but he's doing all right."

I was all ready to watch him carve up my Lions with some sick stats, I had Dillon benched and everything. UGH, just glad it sounds fairly minor.

I'm hoping for a BYE so I don't have to rely on Maroney this upcoming week. We are not going to get any concrete info out of NE this entire week

NE @ MIA this week is not a cakewalk either for the running game.

there is no way, none that we know how good maroney really is until 12:15 next sunday.

good chance that if hes probable he wont play, and if hes doubtful he'll run for 300 and 3

Yeah head trauma is the worst because now he's a very risky start. Another shot to the head and he could be back in the locker room next Sunday. I've been waiting for this all year as he takes some horrific body shots.

Maroney might be out a while. From what I heard, he banged up his ribs, and could miss a few weeks. Hopefully he'll be back before the playoffs.

From Boston.com on today's practice notes:

* RB Laurence Maroney was present. The print media watched stretching and one set of warm-up drills. Maroney jumped over bags with the rest of the team's skill position players, although didn't appear to be going full speed.

maybe that's why they are called warm-up drills :hophead:

I thought the guy was invincible. Seriously, it seems like the guy gets dinged up here and there but the injuries don't keep him down.

Now questionable with a back injury.
my $.02 is that we knew he would be on the injury report and since the Pats haven't acknowledged that he was "jacked up" this could be another mind game w/ the nfl. I was wondering what they would classify his injury as....seems like if his back was ailing he wouldn't have been in pads and "jumping over bags" yesterday. Now this could be a new "injury" but I'm not convinced anything has changed. :loco:

Funny, I was thinking the opposite. For someone splitting time, he sure does seem to get dinged up a lot. I'm a little concerned about his ability to shoulder a full load next year as a result.
Me too. I cleaned house and drafted Maroney with the intention of building my dynasty team around him for the next few years. The fact that he already seems to get hurt a lot worries me a bit.

Good read, seems it was his back that was tweaked in that collision and it wasn't a concussion. I guess I'd rather have a rb get a back strain than a concussion this early in his career esp. the way he initiates contact. He sounds like a risky play thus far but we'll have to see what todays practice goes like and decide if he's startable in a playoff week. :wall:

This was in the boston herald on thursday. As you know the patriots play games with their injury report. The article talks about Maroneys injury history. ...Maroney stretched and ran through one set of drills before the media was required to leave the practice bubble. When asked how he was feeling, Maroney offered two words.

“I’m straight,” he said, meaning he was fine

anybody planning on starting him?

I have to chose between him, Rhodes, or Norwood... course I'd rather start him but was curious if anybody else is taking the chance

I'm out of the money, so I'm rolling the dice and rolling with Norwood for the first time this week. Of course, I might change my mind between now and Sunday.
