CBS giving a 50% League Discount (1 Viewer)

sorry if a honda, just noticed it on my league's front page. that's pretty good of them to do that. My league never experienced any problems, but I will happily take 50% off next year's league. The other offer was 25% refund for this year's league, but eh, it's almost over.

50% off next year sounds good to me. The only issue my league had was changing the starting lineups close to gametime. But overall we did not have to many issues.

I personally like the 3rd option. If you experienced no quality problems, do nothing and get no rebate or discount. I wonder how many leagues will opt for that one.

lol, for real, why even put that. There is a deadline for this though, so whoever has a sportsline league better get on it. December 31

i was told that they are giving people who are honest and select this an even better deal. i'm guessing it will be either this year or next free.

kudos to sportsline for owning up to the trash they put out for most of the season.

i took them up on the 50% off.

i was being honest i had hours upon hours of downtime from 12:00-1:30 for at least 5 weeks of teh season.unacceptable!

Kudos to Sportsline for recognizing all of the issues that they had, and taking this step. I will be taking the 50% discount for next year provided you don't need to renew NOW for the league, and that they give you a promo code for when you sign up.

We had one league that has only been around for 2 years now, that was badly impacted, while our dynasty league that has ben on CBS for 4 years now, saw very little trouble.

yes, you don't need to renew now. They say the discount will be taken after you renew next year and after any other promo codes and what not you apply

So if you agree to stay with them, they are only going to charge you as much as the other websites charge... the ones who actually worked? Instead of twice as much?

That's a generous offer!!

this was on both of the CBS league front page in commish

This season CBS SportsLine dedicated much of our attention to fixing quality of service issues that affected many of our 2006 Fantasy Football Commissioner leagues during peak traffic periods on NFL Sundays. With your confirmation of exceptional Football Commissioner operations during the past four Sundays, we are now confident that those issues are behind us and excited that the steps we took this year will ensure a great experience for your league in 2007. (For details on the measures we took, please visit our Report Card.) We apologize, again, for the inconveniences and dissatisfaction that your league may have experienced from our performance, and CBS SportsLine understands that we have not met the high expectations that you demand from a premium product like ours. Nonetheless, we hope you'll allow us the opportunity in 2007 to prove that CBS SportsLine remains the leader in Fantasy Sports. With that in mind, we are extending three options to Football Commissioner leagues who played with us in 2006: 50% DISCOUNT on this CBS SportsLine Fantasy Football league in 2007: A 50% discount will be credited to the purchaser of the 1999champs league on or about January 31, 2007 and remain valid until next season. The discount will be 50% OFF the cost of the league after any other promotional offers or discounts. 25% REBATE for 2006: 25% of the amount paid for the 1999champs league will be credited back to whoever made payment this season. If payment was made by credit card and your billing information is still valid in our database, the partial rebate will be credited back to the card on or about January 31, 2007. Otherwise, we will send a check postmarked on or about January 31, 2007. TAKE NO ACTION: If your league didn't experience quality of service issues this season, perhaps you do not expect financial restitution from CBS SportsLine. Your league may select only one of these three options. The deadline for the decision is 11:59 PM ET, December 31, 2006. The only person who's allowed to make this decision is the one who made payment on the 1999champs league. In this league, the purchaser is YOU.Please click here to select your league's credit by 11:59 PM ET on December 31, 2006. For more information, check the FAQ and read the Terms and Conditions. We look forward to serving you again in 2007. Thank you for playing Fantasy Sports at CBS SportsLine.

Believe it or not, I was actually considering starting a thread a few weeks ago that would have been an open letter to CBS to request a discount. Then I figured it probably wouldn't go anywhere or result in any action.

CBS is doing the right thing here. Here's the message leagues are receiving:

Too little too late! Two of my leagues are already on MFL and I've convinced the commish of the two CBS leagues to switch to MFL next year. I imagine MFL and other services will see a big jump in new customers next year. :lmao:

Great move by CBS. They will keep us for one more year in all likelihood, because of this effort.

I had planned on making a big stink about CBS with the hopes of moving the league, but with this offer I would prefer to give them one final chance and give our league the opportunity to keep its history available - something which would be lost should we switch providers.

We did not have many problems this year in the 2 leagues I use CBS. But I will be taking the 50% off for 07 :( . After 8 years we deserve a discount.

The downtime wasn't so bad for us, in quantity. Sadly, it was alowats 12:00 to 1:00 on Sundays. We deserved a 100% break, so yours is justified! We been with them for 8 years, as well. The second and third were free, when Commissioner.com was trying to corner the market right around the time CBS bought 'em oot.

CBS sucks...more problems with them then any ff leagues..need proof do a search here on cbs.

They should have free leagues like (yuck) yahoo, but pay out $$$$ since they are loaded with it.

CBS no way in 2007 why you think they doing this discount? :(

I noticed this past Sunday the live scoring was with in seconds. I had my laptop on the cough and LT scored a TD and it was on CBS game center just as he crossed the goal line  We have been overall happy with CBS over the 8 years. As the Commish I do not want to redo a new site and load all the roster over again, dynasty leagues.

CBS is like the Dallas Cowboys; you love them or hate them

Any update from anyone thats tried this? If #3 is the way to go, I am going to tell our commish. TIA.

I'd be interested to know how many people who are so loyal to CBS have actually played in leagues that use better & cheaper services. I used CBS for years, and I thought it was pretty good. Then one of my leagues went to my fantasyleague, and it was similar. That was about 4 years ago. Since then, myfantasyleague has gotten so much better, and CBS has treaded water or gotten worse.

I'm still in one league that uses CBS, and it's terrible. The site is sloooowwww, the live scoring has glitches and they don't seem to try as hard as myfantasyleague and other sites to come up with new toys for the site.

How many of CBS loyal followers are currently in another league that uses a different site? Do yourself a favor and try something new and better.

i also play in 2 leagues that use MFL. CBS live scoring is within seconds, see my post above on this. MFL is within about 30 to 60 seconds. Not that big of a deal. After 8 years using CBS, I do understand the hated for CBS. Like I said very little problems in 8 years. Other site are cheaper but the fee is divided over all the owner.

I believe if your a FBG member last 4 years you would know all about CBS leagues..as always said just do a search here on it..goes back galore

good business decision by CBS...I just re-upped both leagues with owners unanimous approval. We have been a CBS customer as long as they have been around. We have always been happy with the performance of the site save maybe 2 instances. I have used MFL in other leagues and really don't care for it.

Quick Question for those with good memories. Earlier in the season didn't the NFL decide to branch away from CBSsportsline starting next season? Meaning they will host their own stats, etc?

Does that somewhat imply that CBS might not have the best service because of that and they are giving the discount but their product may be inferior next year? There by hooking people to purchase by accepting the discount.

And that many will be jumping ship to any service that NFL.com provides??

If that is the case...maybe taking the 25% back is the path to go? I've been with CBS about 8 years also...since the free days but I'm pulling a ?? on what to do.

later

I find it puzzling that people still use CBSSportsline. There are so many better options. I will not even play in a league that uses CBS.

This is a great move by the CBS marketing department. Nothing more, nothing less. They don't feel obligated to refund anyone's money, they just want to keep the herd drinking from their bucket.

Your questions are good but you answered your own questions there...if the NFL is shying away from CBS means they are not dependable ..really I heard it here for 4 years why is CBS down..hey can't get on CBS...do anyone here know what happen to CBS this week, and the list goes on on on...

We haven't had any big problems this year. I do have one question that's been an ongoing issue, though: Does anyone know why waivers doesn't run Wed night/Thur morning?

In our league, it runs Tue night/Wed morning and then doesn't run again until Thur night/Fri morning. Have never been able to figure out why not. Doesn't usually matter much, but only allows one waivers run with the Thursday night games each week now.

I don't mind a 50% discount for next year....my league really did not have any real problems. More prize money for next year!
