Shrine game Pro Day Interview Requests (1 Viewer)

Cecil and I have been lucky enough to interview Tyrone Moss, Zac Taylor, Ben Patrick, Jerard Rabb, David Ball, Jayson Swain, Jacoby Jones and John Wendling here at the Shrine Game practices - stay tuned to the audible to hear them. Tomorrow at pro day, the players hang out a little bit longer and we should get a shot to conduct more interviews. If there's anyone in particular you want to hear from (and anything you'd like us to ask) post it here and we'll do our best to oblige.

Clearly talk to the Fresno State Bulldogs. If you have the tact and background you might get some great information.

I'm hard on Paul Williams because he just didn't produce enough as a collegian. Remember in the scouting how to thread, I agreed with coolnerd about seeking production. So, that's something to talk to him about. His injuries slowed him down this year, and so did poor QB play, so there's some background to get him rambling. These guys seem pretty loose with draft grades, and I understand Williams put in his paperwork a year ago for an assessment. I'd like to hear from him what he expects.

Kyle Young. What the heck happened with the academics. Does he still consider himself the top center in the draft. There's a lot of talk about him being too big and probably having to play guard. How does he feel about the move. And what the heck happened with the academics.

Marcus McCauley. Tread lightly friends. He's given up some juicy quotes to reporters who handled him right. He did say Pat Hill benched him to save his job. I expect that comment backfired seriously, so you need to dance around it a little to find out more about this.

Finally, tell him and Williams some of us think the last time they timed at Fresno the numbers were silly fast. Do they think they can duplicate the 4.31s at the Combine?

I would like to spend some time talking football with Zac Taylor. He is an interesting prospect and guys like him make it if they are exceptional mentally, imo.

Steve Vallos is another guy I would want to chat with. Wake had such a great year and he was such a big part. I'd ask him if he thinks it's funny that he knocked Amobi Okoye around at will and Okoye's stock went up. Seriously, I'd like a good report on Vallos. I have a hunch he will be the surprise of the OLs and possibly the best.

Speaking of OLs. Doug Free is there. Enough said. So many questions from not coming out last year to blocking for Wolfe to his injuries and bad year. I'd be interested in his measureables if he cares to discuss numbers.

Desmond Bishop has been most often compared to the previous Pac 10 player of the year, Dale Robinson. Robinson is struggling to find work in the NFL, what makes Dez different that Robinson. I know, you have to be careful with that type of question, but that's why you guys get the big bucks.

Dallas Sartz is a funny guy if you get him to open up. Also take a long look at him. Very interesting guy to stick at WLB in an NFL D.

I gotta stop. Have fun, good luck.

Daniel Francis and Kevin Payne. Francis - Is he still in the 4.4 range? Discuss his RB experience in HS and how it translates to his return game.Payne - Discuss punting on grass versus turf. Where does he score good crawfish in Monroe?
We will definitely try to talk to Francis - although we don't have many good things to say about his performance so far.Payne skipped the Shrine Game to accept an invitation to the Senior Bowl. We will try to catch up with him in Mobile next week.

Just a tip I'm sure you're aware of and I feel  suggesting it, but just in case you aren't doing this do it. Always ask these guys about other guys. A very common question in the draftee interviews is who is up and coming at your old school. I don't care for that one, but I love it when they are asked the toughest guys they went up against, or who here has made the best impression on you, or who's someone you've played against who you think is going to be a good pro or maybe underrated or maybe played with. You get the picture. These guys always open up some when asked to talk about others and sometimes they drop hot information.

A few years ago Kassim Osgood was approached accordingly and he said, "This TE Gates is going to be unstoppable."

thats an excellent tip - we've been so focused on asking the players about themselves that we forgot to ask them about their toughest adversaries.
