Ron Dayne/ Chris Taylor (1 Viewer)

Well seeing as how they did this last year and the team has many holes. We need a saftey real bad and Landry should be there, will they pass on AP or Lynch in the 1st round?

I can see them doing this and trying to give Dayne/Taylor a shot with some kinda version of thunder/lighting. And then some think DD is coming back as well.

Spending a high 1st round pick on a rb is kinda hard to do when your team is no where near being complete. And this is the texans and KUBE we talking about. I think they love building around there def and O-Line. and then maybe KUBE is so loyal to Dayne he wanna give him a shot again. He looked good when he was healthy at the end of the year, and Taylor looked like a nice compliment to him as well.

Do the TEXANS pass on a top flight 1st round rb?

If they do what does this mean for Dayne and Taylor?

I have these guys on one of my dynasty teams and am kinda reluctant to give them away for nothing basically.

What are u others doing?

Everything that I am hearing through the local rumor mills is that the Texans believe that they need more dynamic talent at the offensive skill positions. They want to resign Dayne (UFA), but don't think of him as a starter, but a great 2nd option. They don't want to depend on Davis (NowWilliams) being healthy, or Lundy/Taylor developing into more than back-ups. Overall, I would say that the Texans Rb situation is very wait and see.

Teams dont look to spend their first round pick on their biggest need. They look to pick the best player available who can help them. So the answer to the question will always be, yes a team might pass on a position in the first round.

That being said, Peterson is one of the top prospects so they'll definately be looking at him. They passed on Bush partially because of his monetary demands and how much they had tied up with Davis. I dont see money being any type of roadblock with Peterson now that Davis is practically out of the picture alltogether. Only a question is if Peterson will be the best guy available with the pick if he is even still available. I doubt that they consider any of the other backs worth that high of a pick. So if Peterson isnt available, its unlikely they'll spend their first pick on a RB.

Regardless, they'll have a new starter next year. Either a free agent, a draft pick, a trade, or even potentially I guess Davis could return. There are lots of better options than Dayne.

Any reason I shouldn't cut Chris Taylor from my dynasty PPR roster? Going once . . .
I have him in a deeper league and am holding for now, mainly because there really isn't anyone who stands out among the backups, with the possible exception of Dayne.

He is in a battle for RB number 3 behind Green, Dayne and competing with Lundy, Gado. The biggest flaw in his game is that he is regarded as fumbler. A clip on the Texans NFLN mimi-camp visit shows Kubiak telling him (paraphrase) that he could be a productive pro player if he could secure the ball better.I have cut him in a couple leagues, but he is on my watch during camp list to pick up at the first sign of injury in front of him or good perfromance on his part.

Taylor is definitely a better physical specimen than Gado or Lundy, and he looked solid in his audition last year. I got to talk to him on the sidelines of the Shrine Game practices, and he seemed like a humble, low key kid who is just working his butt off to make it in the NFL. I see him as the most likely to win the #3 and I also think he could get another audition if Green goes down and the team is out of contention. He's got the right physical profile and running style to be a one cut runner.

Good info guys, thanks. I only have to cut down my roster in this league to 55 at the moment, and that league also allows me to put second year guys on my practice/taxi squad, so he sounds like a guy to hold onto as long as possible before deciding on him.

I believe that I heard Megan Manfull on 97.5 in Houston say the team still has big things in store for Taylor, has given him a ton of work in minicamps, and that Gado and Lundy are both on the verge of being out of jobs ...

She did say that Gado has also looked very good in minicamps ...

Lundy is hardly getting any touches at all ...
