Noel Devine (1 Viewer)

Travis Henry probably was the dumbest high school and college football player ever, it was reported that his SAT scores were consistently in the 400s, so if he remarkebly found a way to qualify academically then there is hope for anybody IMO.

He's the new Clarett.
I hope not. While Clarett had some talent, he was never anything like Devine. Thanks for the article Walkmac. I've been anxiously waiting on him to declare. I didn't understand why Rivals ranks him in the teens in this class. The article says he's 165 pounds. He weighed 183 for that Army game. He is another small guy, but he is the closest to Barry you can get. I hope he isn't mental. He is fun to watch.

This guy would turn around an off year in Seminoles recruiting.
Off year? Don't the Seminoles start off slow and usually end well in recruiting? That's the way I have perceived it to be throughout the years.
Signing day is just four days away and Scout has them listed as #51. Only one 5-star (he's a juco so it'll be a short stay there) and three 4-stars (another juco among these three). Rivals has them #38 with no 5s and four 4s. (Rivals gives out fewer 5s than Scout.) Even if they finish strong, it's a bad year by FSU standards.

Ferrell explained it was because they were so down on his chances of qualifying. They take that into account, not just the pure talent.

Another HS RB to keep an eye on who is kind of under the radar is Darren Evans, out of Indiana. EA just named him HS player of the Year. Going to VT next year.

he looks filthy but those kids in the videos are awful tacklers. But he looks very Reggie Bush like. Kid's got an extra gear it looks like. I dont like how most of his plays were pitches though, he's gotta start taking some straight hand offs because even though he's fast, in the upper levels and the pro's, the guys only get faster

It's not so remarkable that he found a way to qualify academically. He went to the University of Tennessee.Any questions?

Devine has loads of talent but the he's not even out of high school yet and he's already got a laundry list of issues. He's got two kids, can't stay out of trouble, probably won't qualify academically anywhere, and is so small he makes Reggie Bush look like a linebacker and doesn't really have the frame to add a whole lot of weight.

Personally I don't see it as a bad thing. Last three years FSU has gone #3, #2, #3 in the rankings and has done nothing with it -- other than send players off to the NFL to be well-coached there.

FSU has limited scholarships to offer. Only 14 so far, most schools are in the mid-20s.
A limited number of scholarships has a bigger effect on getting a highly ranked recruiting class than most people think. I know that Penn State only has about 17 this year and so it looks like our class is poor, but we're really getting some decent players at need positions (assuming we get Green).

Not so fast, Rivals is saying he is not signing. I guess he got cold feet. The article said Deon Sanders talked him out of WVU, and he may take a visit to FSU. The guy has the word NOLE in his first name, and could be the missing piece in one last NC run for BB.

Pass. Seriously.

He must have posters of McGahee & Shawn Kemp in his bedroom.

He sounds like such an academic train wreck that I have a feeling he's going to the CFL long enough to develop physically and then get signed by an NFL team three years down the road.

I live close to where Noel plays. Dude has mad talent, but also could be called Sports Illustrated with all of the issues that he has. I think he'll end up in Alabama, and as a Nole fan and alum, I couldn't be happier. We love talent, but 'twan will be fine there for us in the near future.

And piss on Deion Sanders. Our offensive problems? Jeff Bowden? Inconsistency at QB? Jeff Bowden and a pair of sophmores? Hey Nick Saban, could you take Prime Time along with ya when Devine comes? We don't want him anymore.

I thought it was a pretty good column.

I would agree...refreshing brutal honesty....but that's not what i'm looking for from a former player......bash on FSU, basically praise Urban Crier and the Gators, while basically blocking young talent from FSU(even though I don't think we need any more problem children). Just wanted a homer, that's all.

Even if it is true, there are just things you don't say  Deion is one of the most invisible FSU alum we have. I remember him talking to Devin Hester before he played FSU one year, and was like WFT :bag: He sure as heck isn't help getting us any recruits by making those kind of remarks in his column. But, when we win a championship he will be the first person bragging about the Noles on CBS. Brooks, Dunn, Charlie Ward - (classy FSU alum)

UCONN has(had) one of the best rush defenses in the nation. Noel's stat line ends as:

N. Devine 23/178/1 1/13/0

Noel isnt going to be an every down back in the NFL, but I see his floor as Darren Sproles and ceiling as ... well, he's no Barry Sanders, but that would certainly be his ceiling. Any back that can average 7.7 yards per with over 20 attempts is quite amazing let along against 8 in the box.

Not sure if he is a 1st day pick next year. More than likely he will be targeted as a situational player and returner. From a fantasy standpoint it would seem where he gets drafted to will determine his rookie value.
