****Official Kansas City Chiefs Offseason Thread**** (1 Viewer)

I had not started a chiefs offseason thread, because I knew it would be Herm-bashing, and that is not the kind of thread we need.

If we are going to have a thread, lets make it productive, please?

Being a displaced Chiefs fan (moved to Florida 13 years ago), my biggest complaint of the Chiefs over the years is that they always seem to play up, or down, to the level of their competition. I have no stats to back up my impression, but that is the general feeling I have. I started being "sports aware" in about 1974 when Arrowhead first opened. This was towards the end of the Len Dawson era and was pretty disappointing to me. As the years progressed, it just always seemed that the Chiefs won those games that everyone thought they were destined to lose, and lost those that should have been cakewalks.

(While typing this, I looked at last year's scores and maybe just blew my impression, but still it lingers.)

I keep hoping for the year that they put the pedal to the metal, kick those who are down, win big when they can, and win ugly when they need to so that they can go all the way.

Oh well, there is always next year...

Fire Herm......

Cut Trent Green.... (or get him to restructure) If they don't get O-line help his statuesque self will get killed.

Get some Oline and WR help - Certainly o-line help. Webb should have been atleast the #3 WR last year. He should be atleast the #2 this year.

Get a DT and super bowl here we come.lol  One or two of them would be best.
First and foremost, they need o-linemen. Herm, I think, is well suited to be a coach of a mid-west team. I think he has the ability to motivate his players and he can relate to players well since he actually played. I think he also helps the defense with his presence and knowledge.

I didn't follow the Giants much this year. Petitgout got cut this offseason. I thought he was pretty decent in the past. Any chance to get him @ a decent price? I think he's 31 or 32 and may still have some tread on his tires. I would rather draft DT or CB where they draft in the first.

Thoughts?

I was actually thinking the same thing when i saw him get released. I think it would only help our line b/c anything would be an improvement from last year, especially considering the OL we have been used to the past 4 yrs, which was so dominant. I saw Kiper projecting the Chefs to take Aaron Ross with the 23rd pick.

After watching some of these OL in the combine, I think the perfect first day for me(assuming I didn't miss any picks that were traded or acquired) would be to snag a Jarrett/Bowe/S. Rice or top tier OL in the 1st, come back and get a WR like Meachem or Higgins or take a top tier OL that slips (Ugoh??) and then go after a guy like Khalil or Datish in the 3rd at C if they fall that far. If they don't fix the WR and OL holes in a hurry it is going to get ugly!

Very good. They may sign Donnie Edwards to play outside and give Keyaron Fox his last chance to develop behind a veteran. Failing that, they'll probably draft an OLB on the first day in the next couple seasons.

I also very much like the McIntosh signing.

But there's still a need for a good draft (which I feel Herm will lead them to, getting some more football players and not athletes). I'd like to see a couple of DTs, a stud right tackle, CB help along with that OLB I talked about, a receiver or two and then OL depth.

The search button is impossible to use on this new format. Can't seem to find a Mahomes or a Chiefs thread very easily at all, so here we are.
Can't believe how much Preseason action he is getting.

Trying to pick out a WR/TE to draft from the Chiefs after Kelce will prove to be difficult.

My observations after 3 Mahomes drives in two weeks,
-if you pick MVS, well I wish you luck
-Moore might be your best bet for the future, but that's going to take time
-JJS we don't know yet
-Fortson is going to be a big red zone target
-watch Watson closely, as he seems to read Mahomes better than the others, and has made plays, (my longshot pick out of the group)

All in all, Mahomes is going to use everyone, so I wouldn't invest too much after Kelce.
