Droughns traded to NYG for Tim Carter (1 Viewer)

BJ relegated to similar role as last year or Coughlin gives him the 15-20 carries as promised.

I think BJ starts and Rueben is relief 5-10 per game

Nice for Jacobs owners. Very nice. Droughns will have carries, but that was a given no matter who they brought in. No real risk of being surpassed on the depth chart by Droughns like there could have been if a rookie or high-profile FA had come in.

Is it possible Browns management can be THAT stupid? Tim Carter? My gawd, that guy should not even be wearing a uniform. It would be better to just trade Droughns for air. At least that way you don't have to write a check for nothing.

Glad to see that ZERO get out of NY.

The title is a mess.

So Drougns to NYG.

Where's the lightning in this backfield?

Fixed

Couple things.-Droughns sucks. Everyone knows.-Cleveland was going to drop Droughns if they didn't get a trade. All teams knew this and lowered his trading prospects.Very surprised NYG did this and I think it means good things for BJ.

I think this makes a pretty solid backfield for the NYG. I'm not sure how these guys will split carries but it should give the NYG enough in the backfield to be solid rushing all year. Isn't Droughs a pretty solid pass catcher too?

Carries will go Jacobs -- Droughns -- Jacobs. They won't have thunder and lightning, they'll have a Reuben sandwich. :goodposting:

Wilcots and Shine are reporting on Afternoon Blitz. They stated it was reported by Adam Caplan of Football injuries.com

Far as I know they are pretty respectable.

Just logged in and they are talking about Rhodes to Oakland at the moment. I'll keep listening.Edit: Yep, they just reiterated it in the 2-minute drill.

Like I said, is CLE. mgmt THAT stupid to get LESS than nothing for Droughns? It appears so. You didn't really make any point. The fact is Tim Carter is a DETRIMENT to any team. So not only is he there to collect a paycheck, he may actually make the team and drop some key passes. Obviously they wanted that bum. NYG mgmt. got off the phone like this:  when the Browns accepted the turd Carter.

I think is going to be a quiet RBBC where Droughns sneaks up and gets 12-15 carries a game.

Just a feeling, I could be wrong.

If true, I think this makes Reuben quite valuable.

First, the Giants have a great rushing offensive line, much more comparable to Denver's (of old) than Cleveland's. He could easily return to the numbers he had there, if he gets the bulk of the carries...

... which he will, because NYG management is not sold on Brandon Jacobs as a starting running back. The primary problem is that he has fumbilits. He can't hold onto the rock. He could barely hold onto the job as the goal line back because of it. Second, the guy is still a project, a half-back in a full-back's body, who has not yet shown the speed to break out into the second level or around the corner.

Call me crazy, but Reuben Droughns could be the 2007 SOD

Carter...does he even return kicks?

That would make no sense either as Cleveland has Josh Cribbs who's a lock to be their KOR.

wow

I see full blown split RBBC....Jcobs and Droughns split carries and BJ get's the goalline love.Maybe Derrick Ward is mixed in as well.

Only because you said it was OK... You're crazy.

Droughns owners have got to be thrilled, he's gone from being on the scrap heap to getting a 2nd chance. Even if it's in a relief role to Jacobs, that's better than being cut or buried in Cleveland behind Jamal and/or Peterson.

I would imagine the Titans are going to need to sign another RB soon. Duckett would be a good addition.
So there goes Lendales TD's....or would Duckett me a depth player?
Depth. I suggested yesterday that the 4 RBs being Lendale White, Duckett, Arhmad Hall, and perhaps Lorenzo Booker in the 3rd would be a nice group.
Why would Duckett want to provide depth for a less talanted running back?IMO

I wasn't really high on Jacobs anyway, so adding Droughns is somewhat neutral to me. Someone will still overpay for Jacobs' potential......and he won't be on any of my teams in 2007.

Jacobs should get around 12-15 carries and Droughns around 10, with Jacobs getting the GL love. So I see an RBBC here.

Droughns should eat into Jacobs' production enough to scare me away from him.

What's below cow dung on the RB scale?

IMO, Droughns is not good enough to merit that big a workload. I would guess Jacobs averages 17-18 carries per game to 8-9 for Droughns. Combined the high end works out to 432 carries between them. Last year Barber and Jacobs combined for 423. And I would not be 100% convinced the Giants are done in the RB search process.

I agree. I think Droughns becomes a breather-RB and 3rd down back since he's a decent pass catcher. No way he gets 12-15 carries/game. That would be 190-240 per season. Barring injury to Jacobs, that ain't happening.

Jacobs might be big, but CAN HE handle that big of a workload? He might be a bruiser, but he is going to take a pounding with those carries too.The question is....will he wear down?

RBBC, both backs will get 160 carries if they remain healthy...maybe a little more tilted if Jacobs shows he can take the pounding but he runs so physical I doutb Coughlin chances it...then again, this might be Tom's last year in NY so he may just say #### it and run Jacobs into the ground.

I wonder if they'll line up Droughns at FB on occasion to mix things up.

I hope Mike Sherrard can get it together in Cleveland
