Startup Dynasty Draft (1 Viewer)

We are nearing the point of the offseason in which many startup dynasty drafts are held. In the next three weeks leading up to the NFL draft, I will be posting a series of polls asking about how you see this year's dynasty drafts unfolding.

The polls will be based on the following lineup in a 12 team league-

QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, Flex (RB, WR, TE) K, D

As far as scoring, assume 4 points for passing TDs and PPR for all positions.

I do not see how Rudi or Chad Johnson should be taken over Carson Palmer who I think is more likely to give a FF team better VBD numbers than either of them more consistently and for a longer period of time.

I'd take Chad over Palmer all day in a PPR.

Starting Running backs and Stud wideouts are GOLD in Dynasty. They're hard to come by and teams horde them. I think these rankings are just a reflection of that. If you have a chance to draft one early, you do it. QBs generally ermerge every year, and you have a chance at them around the middle of the draft every year. I think that's why Palmer might be a little "disrespected".

I really think McGahee should be the pick here. He is on a better team than last year with a better line and will put up top 10-15 #'s for the next 3 years with the potential to be in the top 5.

I'd take Chad over Palmer all day in a PPR.

Ah double dipping PPR. I had missed that as the intent of these ranking in original post.Hate leagues like that. Have to agree that this makes all players who catch a high number of passes more valuable than they should be. Much prefer universal scoring.

Who is voting for QBs in a 4 pts per pass TD format...are you on crack? You wouldn't draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round of almost all dynasty leagues if someone put a gun to your head with that setup. This is not a redraft. I would like all 10 people that are voting for Palmer here to report directly to the "Dating Game" forum or whatever forum where you find others to start a dynasty league. Manning and Fitz in the 1st round? You have to be kidding.

nothing wrong with Fitz at his spot imho. On the way back you can get a similar RB...but u may not be able to get a similar WR...(even though i like him at 1.12)

So only RB's should be 1st round dynasty picks if Fitz & Manning aren't? Soory but I'll guarantee there won't be 12 RB's currently in the league that put up more than 6 years of #1 RB caliber numbers. Fitz is a #1 quality WR for a decade, barring injury.And Manning, although old has a really good track record of being a top QB. Palmer is pretty close to that, and he's young. Give me a stud QB, or better, a stud WR, and I'll take a RB in round 2-3, thanks.

You make fair sense except the redraft part. I'm more likely to take a stud QB early in a dynasty than a redraft.

Strange voting in that we had a runoff between Chad and SA and now McGahee is well ahead (at least at the time of this post) of SA.

As for the stud QB talk, there's more than 1 way to build a dynasty team. IMHO, few dynasty leagues take the time to equalize out the QB position with RB's & WR's, so therefore, I rarely would draft a QB early in an initial draft. (That being said, I took McNabb with the 1st pick of the 3rd round in a 14 team league 2 years ago and later traded him for Peyton. Stud QB's are a nice luxury.)

Missed that it was 4 for TDs and not 6. Even so, I don't think Palmer is too horrible of a pick here. He's probably got another 6 years of top flight play, maybe more. Walking away from the first two rounds with an uber stud RB in ppr (Westy) and a studly QB for years to come isn't too shabby.

looking at these results, i think a good portion of these voters are waiting for yahoo leagues to start
