Please get a safety or some OL help.. I cringe every time i see a mock with Ted Ginn Jr. going to the Cowboys. Our pass offense, while not the greatest in the league is okay, we really need some OL depth and of course we need those turnstyles in the secondary to get lost on the way to Valley Ranch..
As usual I expect to get nothing I want and Ted Ginn will be a Cowboy in about 8 days.

Normally I would've advocated a WR b/c of the age of their starting duo, but I think they need whatever helps them win NOW. They've got a little window here while those WRs are still very good to try and make a Super Bowl push. Also, I like Crayton as WR3.
I felt like edge pressure was what they need the most for 2007/2008, but I can see why Cowboys fans don't trust Henry at CB. If I liked Ross more (seen every game, not a huge fan), he would've gotten more consideration.

This team frustrates me to no end. They're slightly above average in a lot of areas but not great in any one.
Their o-line probably shakes out as Adams/Kozier/Gurode/Davis/Colombo. While Blalock would be a great fit, the "win now" phase the 'Boys are in probably precludes drafting depth.
They signed Ken Hamlin from Seattle, so all the talk of "move Henry to safety" should die down. And with a better pass rush, the secondary should perform better.
So I think people predicting Jarvis Moss (or Anthony Spencer or any other pass rushing OLB) are probably right about this one.

On paper, this team has few (major) holes; especially with the Hamlin and Davis signings. It will be seen as to whether Hamlin can cover well enough to take pressure of off Roy Williams.I just don't see them taking another defensive front seven player again. On the DL, they have Ferguson at nose and Spears and Canty at ends. There really aren't any 3-4 DEs other than Carriker and Anderson that grade out in the first. At LB, Ware and Ellis will provide the outside pass rush, with Ellis coming off of the field for Carpenter in non-rush situations. Inside, Adoyle is solid; an upgrade could be had over Brady James, but once again, who other than Willis can play inside and warrants a first round grade.D-back is another issue though, I think the team would be wise to draft a pure cover corner like Ross or Houston. That would allow them to better matchup the slower Henry with non-speed receivers and use him in sort of a rover-mode in nickel situations.With the investments in Gurode, Davis and Columbo this offseason, don't expect an O-lineman unless maybe Levi Brown falls or they project Joe Staley as an eventual replacement for Adams. If Rice is your second rated WR, shouldn't you think Dallas SHOULD take Rice over Meachem? I am okay with Dallas taking a WR, and I am not arrogant enough to believe I have them ranked perfectly, but I will wince if we go with Bowe or Meachem ahead of Ginn, Jarrett, or Rice. That's not to say I don't want Bowe or Meachem to be Cowboys. I would be excited about either because I love me some WRs, but I would prefer a rock like Jarrett, a freak like Rice or a field stretching playmaker with huge special teams value, to those two.

Baca goes with Blalock, and I would be fine with that pick too. I would probably like it better than Meachem or Bowe because of the WRs who will be available later. Both Baca and I went "a little" negative on Blalock in his mock, but as long as Dallas isn't expected an understudy for Left Tackle, I think this would be a great long term addition to a line that has been troublesome and shallow for far too long.

Faletti goes with Jarvis Moss, and if Moss is who Faletti thinks he is, then finding someone to replace Ellis opposite Ware is fine too. Dallas really is in a best available player situation. My problem with Moss is how weak he is physically. I don't expect long armed DEs to pump the bar 30 times, but please give me more than 16!
I think the whispers of Moss's character problems are directly related to his work ethic. Off the field, my novice research reveals a really good kid, active in church and stuff like that. But he seems to rely too much on his natural athleticism and isn't a real hard worker. I question his ability to stand up and play LB too. Moss probably should go to a 4-3 team, take protein pills and lift weights for a year.
So, looking at all 4 SHOULDs from the GUYS, I lean with Baca. I think the DE/OLB they need will be there in the 2nd. I think this year, and this is important for Dallas, AND NEXT YEAR, are just loaded, flat loaded with options at WR. They do need to beef up that OL and there is almost no depth there in this draft or on this team...
So nab Blalock, go with Owens, Glenn, Crayton, Hurd, Austin, and Mike Walker or such, and target one of the Georgia DEs in round two and... that's what Dallas should do.

you're right, I shouldn't have wussed out - Rice is who I would tell them to take, I just know that Rice isnt going ahead of Meachem or Bowe.

I only mention it because Rice would have changed my conclusion from Baca to Bloom. If they took Rice, I would join the don't pay TO and cut him bandwagon!
The main reason to not take Rice and take someone like Blalock instead is that Rice is likely to fall into the late 30s, or even 40s, and you can get him cheaper by trading up from your later 2nd or trading down to the early 2nd, but yeah if it was me and only me on the line for this pick, it would be Rice.I only mention it because Rice would have changed my conclusion from Baca to Bloom. I would go secondary with this pick. CB like Aaron Ross would be excellent. You cannnot have enough good CBs. They are extremely valuable.
Free safety is a strong one here as well. I like Reggie Nelson and Michael Griffin.
I would trade down if I could not get any of the above and maybe even if I could not get Ross. I like Pat Watkins and think he will be as good as either of those other 2 but if not then they need pick one.

They are stacked at LB and I think they need to see how the crop they have works out before spending another 1st rounder here. Carpenter was coming on strong at the end of the year and Ellis is said to be recovering well.
DE is very deep with Canty, Spears, Hatcher and Ratliff.
NT needs some depth behind Ferguson but there is not a prospect at this spot in the 1st round.
OL pretty solid. I was not sold on Gurode at Center but they were and he did make it to the Probowl so maybe I was wrong. They have some young guys that they like and are developing as well.
Blalock just doesn't look like the part of the future at LT. His body build just looks off to me.
WR- Owens and Glenn are older but are a Top 5 tandem in the league. Crayton, Austin and Hurd are good if not spectacular depth that could develop into starters. Crayton might already be starting material if not for the injuries.

Good analysis. I would take Ben Grubbs though if he is there at 22.
Finally someone who agrees with me and wants a DB in round 1!!
Seems to me that with the depth at the WR class unless they fall in love with someone they should let the draft come to them with a 2nd round WR with probably the same draft grade as who they would take in the 1st.
One question I ask is that with TO, Glenn, and Crayton do they need a speester or a possession guy? With Witten and MB3 underneath I'd lean towards a speedster type and KR/PR so that Newman isn't being risked either.
So in Round 1 I'd love to see OL if value is there or else I know there will be value at DB. A stud DL might trump all but I don't see that available.
So in my professional opinion I'm going to say BPA at DB or OL and a WR in the 2nd.

Also the fact that he only put like 15 or 16 reps on the bench press which tells me he lacks work ethic. He is a huge risk IMO.

Add in the assorted health issues he's had in his career and he has bust written all over him.
That is extremely weak for a DL, I'd rather them go CB Houston. I think that guy is even stronger than Moss.

I agree with Andy that the Cowboys will not take Moss. In recent years they have placed heavier focus on character as a determining factor. Ware vs. Merriman is a good example.
Early in the off season I was all for a Guard. Now I am leaning towards a CB.

Well, I don't have an issue with a DB either, BUT in that case it would really depend on who is available (for me). I do not want Ross or Hall. I see both struggling alot and I am tired of the struggles in Dallas secondary. I hope Hamlin is an answer. Revis or Houston would be excellent, and so would a few of the safeties, Griffin, Meriweather or Weddle. I'm pretty fussy about Reggie Nelson too, and I hope they don't take that risk.
