Devin Hester's Value on offense in non-kick return yd leagues (1 Viewer)

The Bears will begin to use Devin Hester on offense starting at their upcoming minicamp.

It's a great idea for an offense that needs playmakers. "Hopefully we can get it in his hands 5-6-7 times different ways—use him out of the backfield, as a receiver, in the slot," coordinator Ron Turner said. It looks like he won't play any cornerback. Of course Hester's duties on returns will remain the same.

(KFFL) Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester worked well at wide receiver during the team's minicamp. Hester split out wide, lined up in the slot and in the backfield at times. He caught every pass thrown to him during individual drills and was impressive during seven-on-seven drills and 11-on-11 drills.

could be a big play guy.. whats the feeling in the shark pool

You know my thoughts, zero value in non return leagues.Predictions: 12 receptions, 140 yards

12 rec. is generous.

Why.. its not like the Bear WR pool is very Talented.

Mussy is old, Bradley has done nothing, and Davis is laughable

why is it crazy to think that Hester can be a playmaker, we've seen what he can do with the ball

You guys jerk off to Ted Ginn Jr. but laugh at Hester

probably like Dante Hall trying to play offense, KH.

That doesn't mean that he doesn't have great breakaway ability, shiftiness, and speed and could go the distance any time he touches it, but special teams and offense are completely different.

Aside from the return game, the biggest difference is generally ST players are something along the lines of a 2nd and/or 3rd string D.

It doesn't mean I won't be tempted to grab Hester super late and see how it shakes out but....

My issue isn't what he does with the ball in his hands.

I'm a Bears fan and am happy that Hester will be used on offense. I don't think a ton can be expected out of him right away though, if ever. I see maybe 10-15 receptions and a handful of reverses. Maybe 2 TDs total. I think he will serve as an excellent decoy at times though; could help Rex and Ced a bit.

He may be able to develop into a deep threat WR in time, but that is not exactly a simple task.

I wouldn't expect a ton out of him in 07.

Bears slot receiver Rashied Davis could lose some snaps this season with Devin Hester moving to offense.

Davis was a solid contributor a year ago with 22 catches, 303 yards, and two scores. Hester will probably line up at several different positions, possibly even running back, but makes quite a bit of sense as a slot receiver.

roto  Hester
