I really like what I saw of Holmes last year and he actually had pretty good #'s for a rookie wr. I think as Ward declines you'll see Holmes' #'s jump.

I'll go

67 catches

939 yards

14 ypc

5 td's

I'd put him in the 25-30 range and probably alittle higher in dynasty format.

I do however really like his upside and talent. I do however question what kind of run to pass ratio Pitt will be doing next year. New coach and OC makes it hard to predict. That being said he is young with a young qb and the 2 should be together for a long time. Don't get crazy with #'s this year though. Good #4 wr.

Holmes really impressed me last year in the 2nd half. I think he continues to improve but the Steelers offensive attack will hold back his #s. The Steelers will continue to run the ball a ton and Ward will continue to get the majority of receptions. Also, Miller is a great threat on the goalline and Washington seemed to get a bunch of big play receptions last year. This will limit Holmes' TD #s.

60 rec, 900 yds, 4 tds

new offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, ( Pittsburgh's WR coach for the past three seasons) plans to use more 3-4 WR sets with the Steelers in 2007 and beyond. Gone are the Bill Cowher smashmouth 'run-first,run-often' Steelers. This is a new era, and you'll see more passing from them.

On this same note, Holmes is a wait and see approach, maybe next year; though solid. Much of the talk form the Pittsburgh area through Minicamp and the OTA's is also about Ariens approach to Spreading out the offense with 3/4 WR's as mentioned; what the undertone has been is of the three and four recievers will actually be TE's so that they can run from this same spread. Ariens has made several comments in the local media and on draft day talking about involving more TE's in the offense. This can be witnessed by their third round draft pick this year, and their number 1 choice in 2005 in Heath Miller, along with the statements and speculation from the local media. Holmes will have decent numbers but as others have mentioned Ward will still get his, if Miller or the TE position cuts into Holmes production, and Washington continues to improve from UDFA status he shares with Willie Parker then Holmes is a Number 2 at best this year in very deep leagues. Similar production as last season with some improvement as a sophomore; optimistically: 55 rec 962 yds 3 TD's... The TD's is where the TE's will hurt him most, as the Red Zone will be where they implement a spread offense, but he will get left off as they may go LARGE and Ward's blocking ability.

Santonio Holmes is among the many young expected breakout WR candidates this season. I'd put him in the same position as Brandon Marshall, Cotchery, Mark Clayton, and Vince Jackson. I really like the season that Holmes put together as a rookie and I like his potential in the possible revamped Steeler passing game in 2007.

Holmes 108 targets with 65 catches for 1008 yards and 6 TDs

With a healthy Hines Ward and the decent likelihood Heath Miller will be used a touch more in the passing game, I don’t see Holmes posting quite the numbers that many others in this thread are seeing (and the numbers he did in the 2nd half of 06). Big Ben should be better this year, but I’m not sure what to think about the impact of the new coaching staff on the overall offensive production in Pittsburgh, and specifically that of the passing game. I’m keeping my projections for Holmes a bit more conservative I suppose... and largely on par with his totals from last year.

52 recs

820 yds

4 TDs
