2008 NFL RB Draft Class Preview (1 Viewer)

Awesome. Simply awesome.

I play in a RB-scarce dynasty league with a 3-man college roster. This could be the most helpful thing I'll see all year. Thank you.

Lance Ball (5SR), 5-9, 225, strong runner, nice hands, exceptional blocker. He's probably getting drafted next year. I won't be surprised if his RBBC-mate, Keon Lattimore (same basic size), is also drafted. These big dudes are in each other's way, but I'm sure scouts have taken note. Most reports say Ball lacks speed, but I heard the supplemental speed and strength program at Maryland has him ripping off sub 4.45 this past spring. Lattimore is supposedly faster. Nice nfl potential backs being overlooked.

Contrux, I'm not so sure about Choice. I want to see more without Calvin. Also, that's a solid OL returning 4 starters, so that needs to be considered.

I like Little if he can ever stay healthy.

Sure, but remember Ball was horrible. Even with Calvin doing well, it's not like most teams were in their Dime a lot against GT. I don't think you can attribute all that much of his success to Calvin. He had a great game against Georgia when Calvin was quiet and did well against Troy and UNC when Calvin was quiet as well.

Felix Jones (Arkansas 3JR) 5'11" 195

In the shadow of McFadden and the institutional controversy at Arkansas last year, Felix Jones probably had the quietest 1K rushing season in the nation. The duo had the most rushing yards of any tandem in college football last year.
I like seeing Jones listed as high as Tony has him among underclassmen. There's plenty of support for big YPCs leading to future success and Jones goes over 7 yards a carry. But, duo had didn't have the most rushing yards of any tandem in college football last year.

Slaton (1744) > McFadden (1647)

White (1219) > Jones (1168)

Yeah, Ball and Lattimore were literally the last two senior cuts. I could have flipped a coin between them and the BC duo as I try to keep it around 25 seniors, but I had seen more of the BC duo last year. It's kind of like doing wedding invitations, you have to draw the line somewhere and then later you realize you should have invited a couple other people instead of some you did. ;)

I know Slaton is gone after this year, but I hope him and White decide to stick around for their senior seasons...

Keep an eye on Dontrell Savage. He probably translates to a 3rd down, change-of-pace RB in the NFL. But, he is could end up having a higher ceiling than many believe.

RB Tracker you can copy in to Excel to track them today, or if you just want the player's Combine number handy. The fractions apparently don't load in Google docs, but I think I set the right permission for anyone to access.
