This guy is nothing more than a WR4 or 5 anymore. He is not a redzone threat, he plays on a run first, defensive team, and I believe he has been passed over my Clayton as WR#1. And dont forget that Todd Heap is the #1 option on passing plays here.

60 rec, 800 yds, 3 tds

The trade for McGahee, the emergence of Clayton, and a healthy Heap will make Mason the 4th or 5th option on this team. He is no more than a #4 / #5 WR now.

I thought last year was his chance to shine after being paired back up with McNair.

I say

55 catches, 650 yards, 2 TD

Derrick Mason has enjoyed long term NFL success and is only 33 years old entering the 2007 campaign. He disappointed many last year as the popular thought was that with him being rejoined with McNair, he would rebound from a rather disappointing 05. Expectations were too high and he had his worst season in the past seven with only 68 catches for 750 yards and 3 TDs.

During his last five years with Tennessee (00-04), Mason averaged 81 receptions for 1101 yards and 7 TDs. In his two years with the Ravens, he has slipped to 77 for 912 and 2.5 TDs. He joined in 04 fairly late and was reasonably successful. His 05 was definitely disappointing.

There are definitely two players that are expected to have more opportunities and should outperform Mason in Baltimore this year, Heap and Mark Clayton. However, I think that Mason will remain a viable third option for McNair and should outperform his current ADP, WR 51 and 141 overall. I really expect a resurgence in 07. I see a bargain in store for those owners that pick him up as late as round 12 in 12-team leagues.

Derrick Mason 75 catches for 925 yards (12.3 ypc) and 5 TDs
