For those of you who are subscribers, Footballguys staff writer Chris Smith has several articles breaking down the draft slots. They are some great articles that go into deep detail on drafting from the various draft slots. They include some mock drafts along with explanations. These are some of the best articles on the site in my opinion, and help to form a strategy, based on many different factors.

Here is one of them.

I can't say Im a fan of the 8th/9th spot write up. I find it not very realistic AT ALL. Maybe next year each staff member could write up the article based off what slot they actually have (or have most of if in multiple leagues). Having the 9th spot in my league I have paid great attention to it and when I look at the example draft Smith gave I :coffee: . I appreciate the effort and am glad for the write up.....I just wish it was based in reallity.

12-team redraft league / 18-round fantasy draft

Must start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE

Any chance I can add in a PICK NINE link/question/discussion for a 14-team PPR league? Don't see many 14-team links up there. Thanks in advance if you can add the subject below (deciding whether to stay at #9 or move down).... :)

In our league we have the choice to keep our draft slot OR move down to a slot below (or above if an owner above you has vacated his spot and moved down....etc etc.)

Anyway, I drew the #9 spot in a 14-team PPR league and was wondering where you guys would prefer to be if you didn't have the #1 (LT) or #2 (Sjax)? Seems to me that after those guys all the RB's have similar question marks surrounding them so there might be not much of a difference in my league/scoring system between the #9 pick (e.g. Rudi/Westbrook) and, say, the #12 pick (e.g. Ronnie Brown/Maroney)...so you might as welll get a better 2nd rounder.

Anyway, where would you want to be if you were me...stick in the 9th spot or move down to 10-14?

I'd like to see some more discussion of draft slots in 14 team leagues as well.

No offense, fellas, but in a 14-Team League, you ought to be Auctioning, not Drafting...

...I know, I know, a little late for that now...but dedicate some time before this season starts, and take the opportunity to peruse the material available on the Site, and put together a 'press kit' to distribute to your Leaguemates as a tool to lobby for change in 2008.

Any League comprised of more than 12 Teams will transition to a much higher competitive level across the board if an Auction is used to distribute the players across the teams. Adds an entirely new level of strategy, as every player is technically available to every Owner, and each Owner must make decision on how best to allocate his resources, and craft his own strategy for developing a competitive squad.

Positional scarcity mandates at the very least giving Auction-style Drafting some heavy consideration in larger Leagues.

Best Of Luck in '07!

Thank god we can get this out of the pool. This time a year theres 2 " OMG what do i do?! Im drafting from the DREADED ______ spot" posts a day.

drafting tonight.

The commish has thrown a little wrinkle into the draft this year.

We pick numbers from a hat, and the owner with the #1 draft position can either draft at this position, or move his pick to any spot open on the draft board.

So I guess my question is.............If I pull #4 what do I do? Do I move my draft pick to the middle, back, or do I stick with #4 and take Addai?
