Nothing to read in this at all , every single team are giving the ball to two backs .Brown will get 20 carries and Chatman 5 ( I am basing on 25 carries ) no surprise.

No shock here, I see it playing out with Brown getting about 15 carries a game and Chatman getting about 10. Not a true RBBC but close, with Chatman having the upside.

:goodposting: I'm anticipating a 70/30 spread to start... blending to 50/50 or worse by week 4 or 5.

Brown isn't very good.

I dunno.If I was a Brown owner, this kind of talk from the head coach so close to the start of the regular season, for a player who many hoped would be a franchise back, would have me a bit nervous.

Exactly what i said . Each and every coach are giving the same speach you need to backs in this business so it s not a big story .

Does every other team have a starting back who's sucked horribly... who has been publicly stated to be in the coaches doghouse? Is every other backfield subject to so much press anticipating the starter losing his job? I suspect "your" [sic] either a Brown owner or someone who isn't exactly in tune with how things work in the NFL...

nick Saban believed in RBBC too, as mentioned here and happened during the games w/ Lee Suggs. Search it, you will find the hype from this BB last year

So: Its not any different than what Brown has already faced his entire career, unless somebody wants to start hyping Chatman beyond a change of pace back.

So we'll see what happens.

I doubt that LTs starting job was still up in the air late into the preseason last year, as was apparently the case in Miami this year.Also, Chatman is no Turner.

Sorry but when did he suck horribky most think he actually did very well behind that awful OL .2006 241 carries 1008 yds 4,2 ypc 5 TD's

2005 207 carries 907 yds 4,4 ypc 4 TD's

If you call that sucking horribly your probably the one who isn't exactly in tune with how things work in the NFL...

( The guy would have a 6ypc average behind a OL like Denver ) the only knock on him was nt his performance but the injury he time he missed due to injuries . Please maybe you should think about writing your nonsense.

Aniway lets bring this back around week 4 or 5 i will have a good laugh .

I am not saying he's not already faced this situation.. I'm just laughing at anyone projecting Brown of getting 80% of the carries in Miami. He's been being drafted as a low end RB1 or high end RB2 and he won't perform to those projections. Dodds has him projected to get 68% of the carries in MIA this year....and that would be roughly a 10% increase in carries over last year (240>260). Given that Chatman has looked signficantly better in the preseason, I think 60-65% of the carries by year end is probably more likely.

I dont know why he wouldnt get 80% -- esp. if its only Chatman is the guy he has to eclipse. A sober Ricky Williams, that would be a different story. If you bite into this hype of Chatman, go ahead, my point is that its been repeated in pres-season since the beginning of time. Brown will get every opportunity, and if holes are there he will do fine and probably welcome a few carries by Chatman, seeing the Dolphins dont have any other backs to run the ball

I don't bite into any of hte hype regarding the Miami running game. It was one of several that I completely avoided this year. Too many people overpaying for suspect production.
 
I'm thinking this may be a good time to sell high on Chatman, especially since he probably went undrafted in many leagues. It may pan out to be a RBBC, but if it doesn't he'll become worthless fairly quickly again.

NOt bad.... I'm seeing 65% for brown with the other 35 going to others. 70% is the max.... anyone expecting 80% is dreaming.

IMHO Unless you're in VERY deep leagues the only person who's going to pay much of anything MIGHT be the Brown owner.

20 to 5 is not a RBBC. If Chatman was going to be the #2 he'd get 5 carries. I'd guess this is going to be a 60-40 split. If I were a Ronnie Brown owner I'd be very nervous. Problem is that the Miami offense could be horrible. In that case even the #1 back is practically useless. But if the #1 back is only getting 60% of the carries on a rotten offense, well, you've got fantasy useless.

care to 'splain how he has sucked horribly? In PPR, he was a top 10 RB before he broke his hand on Thanksgiving last year...All this behind a putrid offense with absolute aweful playcalling and zero production from the QB position.

The sucking horribly comment has been referring to his preseason FWIW. Now.. shall we take up our odds on this wager? $100 work for you? Tell ya what.. I'm feeling generous.... 73%. With you guaranteeing 80% this should be the best bet of the year for you. :( Or do you not care to put your money where your projections are.... I mean.... You answered the easy part of my post but what about the facts .Sorry but when did he suck horribky most think he actually did very well behind that awful OL .2006 241 carries 1008 yds 4,2 ypc 5 TD's 2005 207 carries 907 yds 4,4 ypc 4 TD's If you call that sucking horribly your probably the one who isn't exactly in tune with how things work in the NFL...I want to know how this is sucking horribly like you said cause i think this is throwing out nuggets and 1/2.

Good post Traders, I was also curious how anyone could get "sucked horribly" out of those stats. If Brown is guilty of anything it's not getting enough carries which could be partially due to himself because of nagging injuries... but even then he's never sucked horribly. I'm a Cam fan and think a rising tide will raise all boats in MIA.

OK - how has he sucked horribly this pre-season? I've watched all of the 'Phin games, and gone to TC personally - I felt he looked strong, gaining yards after contact, making something out of nothing, and catching the ball especially well.

I am not saying he's not already faced this situation.. I'm just laughing at anyone projecting Brown of getting 80% of the carries in Miami. He's been being drafted as a low end RB1 or high end RB2 and he won't perform to those projections. Dodds has him projected to get 68% of the carries in MIA this year....and that would be roughly a 10% increase in carries over last year (240>260). Given that Chatman has looked signficantly better in the preseason, I think 60-65% of the carries by year end is probably more likely.

Hi Icon,I'm a bit suspect of this statement. with all due respect, have you watched any MIA preseason footage? I've been watching what I can (MIA homer) and I'm surprised at everyone saying Brown isn't running hard. Here's some footage I dug up (plus the Colston ad is cool too). I'm still calling BS on Cam and regarding it as coach speak. Now come end of Sunday I might be whistling a different tune, but IMO Brown deserves the full time MIA RB gig. Just to be clear I think the MIA running game is suspect like most, but claiming Brown sucks is a bit premature. See the run at 1:06 for example.

Well, if you think he's sucked horribly in the past and will share time this year.... where do you have him ranked among RB's this year? What #???? I'm curious because Dodds projections are among the lowest and even he has Brown a top 20 pick.
 
This must have been what put Cam over the top in his interview. "The first thing I'll do is look to do is take the ball out of the hands of your best offensive player, the guy you spent the second overall pick on, and get it in the hands of some free agent scrub." :X

If he is below 11 ppg, your point is well taken. That's really all there is too it. I noticed the fantasy concensus here is 12.75 PPG, with 9 total tds, 300 receiving and 1179 rushing

When I did some analysis last year, I was amazed at the low percentage of carries the top guys got. Reuben Droughns led the NFL in % carries on his team @ 78%.My conclusion was that there is really no definition of RBBC: every team is RBBC to some degree. Some of the top guys in the NFL got ~65% of the carries. Consider that the average NFL team rushed 451 times last year - 300 carries is about 66%. Only 10 players eclipsed the 300 carry mark. 66% of an average rushing team will get you top 10 in the NFL in terms of # of carries.Yes, I am a Brown owner, and a fan. But I try to be rational about it here, and I can't see anything but good in his situation.

It's all speculation at this point. Where does it say any type of numbers on the split - all he said was he would use two backs. That could be any type of split or going with the hot hand ala Mangini last year. Any way you spin it - not want you want to hear as a Brown owner. My big league the Brown owner paid $180/$500 cap. I got Chatman for $1 - any type of split is gravy to me and most people that took a flyer at the end of the draft. If I'm a Brown owner I am sweatiing and hoping Ronnie busts it out of the gate. I think Chatman will get a few series a game all to himself and if he looks better than Brown - he will get more time. If borwn looks better he will get more time

FPPG over 3 games is a bit of a small sample size with the volatility of TDs.... but we can take a peek at this thread after that point if you want. My primary assertions here have been the breakout of carries.. not points over the first quarter of the season.... but we shall see. Damn shame nobody wants to give me some action on the under 73% of carries though :X
