Any Westbrook News? (1 Viewer)

I'm hoping Andy Reid plays it straight for once and we get some definite news...
:lmao: My prediction is that he won't practice today or tomorrow but will participate on Friday. The Eagles will pretend that there's actually a chance that he won't play and then Westbrook will light it up on Sunday.

I hope this is true - same results as last week would be nice also..

Brian Westbrook (abdomen) missed practice Wednesday, as expected.

Westbrook is expected to miss Thursday's practice period as well, and hopefully return on Friday. He is confident he'll play against the Giants.

This is the most updated information I found on him. At least he feels he play on Sunday.

As has been commented in other threads, if you've owned Westy before, or have him in dynasty, you're used to this by now. It's really not worth worrying about until Friday. He probably won't practice much on Wednesday or Thursday all season long. There was an interesting comment from Baldinger about Westy during the game Sunday. Apparently Westy told him that he likes being able to practice on Fridays, as it helps him loosen up a little bit (esp. the knee) and actually helps him feel better.

So basically, get used to not worrying about this until Friday. If he's still on the shelf come Friday, then you've got something to worry about.

Hate the fact that this week, they play Sunday night and our lineups are locked at 1pm. The owner who had him last year lost a game and missed the playoffs because of it, because he locked in Westbrook who had been practicing and Reid scratched him at the last second. Same situation this year. I hope the outcome is different.

Brian Westbrook (RB)

9/26: Brian Westbrook did not practice on Wednesday. He is dealing with an abdominal strain suffered in Week 3. "It's not by big strides that he's getting better, but he is making improvement," head coach Andy Reid tells the team's official web site. "It was important a day or two after the game that he wasn't regressing at all... We'll just see how he feels through these next couple of days." Westbrook played in Week 3 despite missing some practice time due to a sore left knee.

So His knee is fine? :goodposting: LOL anyway I have had westy for 4 years on my team..this stuff is common..the risk is high but so are the rewards..Mike

Question is could he have and would he have finished the game last sunday if it was a close game? I say yes.
He definitely would have played. This whole thing is bull we should not even being paying attention. If you watched the game you would see nothing happened to the guy he just got tired. He is not going to practice all season get used to it. I honestly think not practicing him is the best thing that could happen. To add if flag football I would pick Westbrook before LT.

doh Bart. do we have to wait till after the bye next week to see our guy again?gotta check in sunday morning/evening now...

Brian Westbrook - RB - Eagles Brian Westbrook (abdominal strain) is listed as questionable for Week 4. He did not participate in practice at all during the week. He didn't even put in a limited workout Friday. This doesn't necessarily mean Westbrook won't face the Giants, but his status is in serious doubt. Correll Buckhalter will start Sunday night if Westbrook can't, with rookie Tony Hunt being a potential candidate for goal-line carries. Sep. 28 - 1:27 p.m. ET

In all likelihood, he'll play, at least based on past events. Of course, having him play Sunday night complicates things.

found another philly area note..

Neither Brian Westbrook or Dawkins practiced yesterday and both are listed as questionable. The guess here is that with the bye week coming up and the Eagles off next week, both will play, although I think Westbrook is more likely than Dawkins and even that is not a lock.

“They are moving in a positive direction,” Reid said. “It’s just not as fast as you’d hoped.

I keep remembering the game last year when he was a last second scratch after all indications were he was going to play. Now there are no indications he going to play, so past events don't make me feel better.

What is Reid's Friday practice policy? Does anyone know? I have heard some coaches have the "don't practice Fri, don't play" rule, but I don't know if that would apply to a vital player like Westy.

Our lineups have to be turned in by 1 pm Sunday, so this could be real dicey. Might have to start Edge vs Pitts, but Westy on National TV vs. Giants would me more appealing.... esp PPR
