He was only supposed to miss 3-5 weeks, which would put him back BEFORE the bye.I wouldn't expect him to be back until after the BYE. It is possible that he is back earlier but I wouldn't hold my breath.
\He will most definately be back before bye, either this week or next at the latest in my opinion. I definitely would not say that. He may be, but there was some speculation that they may wait until the bye to make sure he totally heals.\He will most definately be back before bye, either this week or next at the latest in my opinion. Oct 8 Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (knee) is expected to be out for another week.
Yes, but do they risk him re injuring and missing more time later? From what I can see, if they don't bring him back before the bye, they can still be in the WC hunt, but the desired 5 seed would be a stretch if they don't win in Nashville.FF aside, the Texans are a team that needs him back in there. I can't imagine that they are planning to keep him out any longer than they have to with Jacksonville, Tennessee and San Diego on the schedule in the next three weeks. And seeing as three of their next four games are on the road, their season could be close to over if they wait until week 10 to get him back in.
unfortunately, they lose those 3 with a 100% healthy AJ, they are not yet ready for primetime, they know it, and will not risk a more serious knee injury byputting him out there too soonFF aside, the Texans are a team that needs him back in there. I could see him coming back before he was 100%. They need his physical presence out there more than anything. AJ goes 6'3, 225 lbs and we all know how strong he is. With Mathis out and Jacoby Jones doubtful, they have no decent physicality at WR besides Andre Davis at 6'1 195 lbs. Who else can beat defenses, Kevin Walter? Yeah, he's 6'3 and 215, but he's also got a whopping total of 1 career TD in 4 + seasons and has never had more than 19 catches in a season. I wouldn't want to rest my hopes on that.Yes, but do they risk him re injuring and missing more time later? Seriously, this is ridiculous. This is a team that's 3-2 right now, and it's still early in the season. I'd really like to hear someone tell Kubiak that they aren't a prime time team yet, and that they know it, and that's why they won't risk bringing AJ back too soon.unfortunately, they lose those 3 with a 100% healthy AJ, they are not yet ready for primetime, they know it, and will not risk a more serious knee injury byputting him out there too soonFF aside, the Texans are a team that needs him back in there. But one thing I do know is that they won't rest him because they feel they are a substandard team with no realistic shot at making the playoffs.
Before he's 100% sure. but with a knee injury, they need to make sure he can take contact. They can't just rush him out there when he can run, but they have to know he can take a hit to his knee and not re-injure it severely. Apparently, he ran some late last week. wish this were the case, but it seems folks are holding. he came out so strong that everyone believes they're gonna get the same player when he comes back. i disagree, but do still believe he'll be good...just not as good. i've been offering #2 RBs, but getting countered with #1s.swirvenirvin said:I think you can get Andre from some owners who need to start winning now, or are in trouble with bye weeks.
Jacoby Jones practiced a little again, but coach Gary Kubiak said he will be "day-to-day," which is the same designation he and Green have both had in recent weeks. With as well as the other receivers are playing, there is no need for the team to rush Jones or Andre Johnson back before they are healthy.
Johnson just started running and will not play again. The earliest you'll see him on the field is against Tennessee. Even that isn't a guarantee though.

Houston has a week 10 bye.SigEp316 said:didn't he have the knee drained 9 days ago...he also just started running, running straight from what I understand. He has to be able to 1.) cut 2.) take a hit on itI can't see him back before week 8..and with a week 9 bye, why not keep him out until 10?
I got him in a 3 player trade a couple weeks ago by giving up Brees, McAllister (pre-injury), and Cotchery for him, Campbell, and Bruce (dropped). Other owner thought Brees would bounce back and needed a some RB depth. I wanted to pair him up with Owens and Marshall since we start 3WR.wish this were the case, but it seems folks are holding. he came out so strong that everyone believes they're gonna get the same player when he comes back. i disagree, but do still believe he'll be good...just not as good. i've been offering #2 RBs, but getting countered with #1s.I think you can get Andre from some owners who need to start winning now, or are in trouble with bye weeks.
And on that note, just gave him up for McGahee. Every man has his priceI have him in a dynasty league and a lot of people expressed interest but were using the injury card to buy him low. Wasn't gonna happen. Now, the offers are still coming in as he's getting closer to play, but at this point, I've waited through this I'm really not inclined to trade him. Probably more an annoyance thing of baby-sitting him through his injury only to then give him up for what I should have gotten a couple of weeks ago, but still won't do it. I can see others feeling the same way.
fantasy football shows and the experts on themI was listening to Sirius Fantasy Football show last night and the one host who runs footballinjuries.com said he believes Johnson might start practicing next week and may play but it might be another couple of weeks. He did say, he is considering Johnson a 3rd WR going forward because the injury slows him down from running bursts.

It is week 10 bye. If AJ has no setbacks he'll be out 1 or 2 more weeks so its week 7 or 8 back in (my guess week 8).its a week 10 bye i thoughtdidn't he have the knee drained 9 days ago...he also just started running, running straight from what I understand. He has to be able to 1.) cut 2.) take a hit on itI can't see him back before week 8..and with a week 9 bye, why not keep him out until 10?
Fanball is stating he may be out for another month which would make him out until week 11.. Not sure if that's accurate but it wouldn't surprise me either..It is week 10 bye. Crap city. Now I have to decide if I try to find a trade where I'm dealing from a position of weakness...i.e. trade Johnson to a team that can afford to wait for him to return for a solid but lesser player who I can start right now. In a decade of playing FF, I've never made such a trade, but I just don't think I can make due with Bernard Berrian and Lee Evans.Andre Johnson may be out until Week 11 Andre Johnson - WR - HOU - Oct. 13 - 11:04 a.m. ET The Houston Chronicle reports Andre Johnson (knee) "seems unlikely" to play in Week 7 against Tennessee, and may be out until Week 11.Especially if the Texans keep winning, they may not be inclined to push Johnson to play until after their Week 10 bye. Johnson ran Wednesday for the first time since getting hurt. It's possible he'll do some limited work Friday. Houston figures to go use a receiver rotation this week involving with Andre' Davis, Kevin Walter, and Jacoby Jones.
I listen to that show while I am driving on Friday nights, and I can tell you those guys are the definition of hacks. They could make a show each week that lampoons the dumb predicitons those guys make. It's Adam Caplan from footballinjuries.com and John Hansen from fantasyguru.com. Kubiak is more cautious about the return of Johnson, who sprained his knee against Carolina in Week 2 after catching a team-high 14 passes the first two games. He still leads the team in touchdowns scored with three.“Andre ran today,” Kubiak said Wednesday. “He was out here right before practice and did a bunch of running. He’s made a lot of progress. I think we’re very, very encouraged in what we are seeing.“I think as far as this week goes, he would still be very, very doubtful, but I think we’re right on schedule with what we were thinking. Houston has not been the most forthcoming team about the seriousness of injuries in their short time in the league. Whether it has been poor diagnosis or lying, those of familiar with the Texans don't really trust the injury updates as much as we should.hmmm lets see...listen to a news paper reporter or the head coach ...geez thats a tough one.
Houston was 4-1 against these teams last year. While all of these teams not named the Chargers are better, Houston is also. Really all of the games should be competitive and I would bet 2-2 over the four game stretch. Then, it is not like Houston is going to win these games. They have@ JacksonvilleTennessee@Charger@ Raiders

On his radio interview (no link), he said that he is crossing his fingers about Andre Johnson playing this week, but will know more on Wednesday and as the week progressed. Said this game has been the target for Johnson to play, but came nowhere close to saying yes. What is this recent news mentioned in the upgrade/downgrade that indicates he may be out until week 11?
