Game Thread W5 - Cleveland V New England (1 Viewer)

Blowouts against two tough opponents and two division rivals...

Monday night road win...

Back at home against a team that does not excite anyone in New England...

Favored by 17...

Classic letdown situation. They're due for a close one or even a loss.

yeah, because the pats are suckers like that..........

here come all the contrarians out of the woodwork.

when you stumble over your one upset out of 20 picks could you also list the other 19 the following week?

Sorry to hurt your feelings, eom. In the midst of your sarcastic rage, you didn't realize that I did not call an upset, I said the ingredients are there.

This is what NE does NOT think. I think the Pats look at Cleveland as a team with big play ability, a RB who can take it to the house any given carry, a head coach who knows their O and D as well as any coach in the league, and a former team captain and NE legend in Willie McGinnest who has something to prove and is great at getting after the passer. Outsiders may look at this as an upset/letdown waiting to happen. But NE's players arent outsiders and theyre fueled by Belichick's drive to prove the team's greatness. I dont think the game's going to be that close because NE wont be looking past the Browns at all. But if Cleveland keeps this game close or ends up winning, Im fully prepared to give props to the Browns as a legitimate squad who will have played a great game as opposed to NE overlooking them. Im really liking the Browns right now(in general) because Im really liking their attitude. And thats where the winning starts.

Point taken, twitch.

And for all the "Because they're the BROWNS" crap I've read in here for years, don't think it doesn't go through the players' heads as well.

So if you're telling me that they are preparing for this game the same exact way and with the same intensity as they would be preparing for, say, the Colts, it's your opinion but I ain't buying.

plz post back when moss becomes disinterested and the colts expose the patriots again.
ahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!that playoff game last year is what you call being 'exposed'?ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I give the colts a lot more respect than teams like san diego and cleveland, and I'll most likely be posting that week.

eom, dont wannna get on ya too hard here, but from one Pats fan to another, mix in a slice of 'humble pie' already. Its crazy, hard-core bashing and disrespect towards other teams that get us Pats fans hated by so many around these boards. The Pats respect everyone equally, I fully believe that, so if its good enough for them, its good enough for us. You can praise our boys without ridiculing others.

could you link where I ridiculed the browns?

the reality is they are overmatched, and when I see nutty posting like the colts exposed the pats in the playoffs last year I will ridicule it.

people need to start taking a little responsibility for what they type instead of crying about someone else's reaction to it.

when san diego players dance around and talk #### w/o ever doing a ####### thing they get a free pass, but when it's pointed out this becomes some kind of mean san diego bashing by a typical arrogant pats fan.

let's take a little reality check.

the reason the pats and their fans are so hated is the exact same reason all dynasties are hated.

take issue w/the petty jealous haters --- I know I do.

nothing I do or don't post will have any impact on how fans of losing teams view the pats and their fans.

Wow, I'd lay :bag: on the Browns at that line. I think the Pats will win, but the Brown should be able to keep it within 10-13.

The ingredients were there two weeks ago:Pats coming off a huge win against SD and looking forward to Cincy on Monday night - so the Bills were a classic sandwich game.Pats 38 - Bills 7.

i think the Brownsw either keep it close (within 10-14 points) or they completely collapse and lose by 30-40 points.

Did or did not Peyton pick apart your defense in the second half of that game? Were you not ahead 21-3? Was your vaunted defense not exposed? Maybe it was Dungy cheating.... Maybe it was the refs' faults.

I agree --- the spread will be somewhere between 1 and 100.psevery week the contrarian wiseguys pipe up about some 'trap' game, or how the obvious games will go the other way, and then you have to hear about the 1 out of 20 they guessed right on for the next 5 years.could I get an accounting on the records of these trap games, plz?

I hear ya. I think the guy was a little needled about saying his boys were about to be 'dismantled', which isnt a huge insult. But his comeback was aimed at that comment. Its no big deal either way. Im just saying our squad is above all that, so Id like to think we as fans can be as well. But keep doing what you do. I like the passion.

It wasnt a vaunted D when they were missing Seymour and Harrison and Colvin and Seau and Wilson and both of their RBs were hurt and couldnt help out the O in the running game, and Caldwell was dropping every ball thrown his way. They lost. The Colts won. Every time a team loses they get 'exposed' in one way or another. The best team won that day, and it was good to see the Colts get over the hump and win that ring. It would suck for NE to win all these titles, and years from now look back and see that their #1 rival never won. It only adds fuel to an already tremendous rivalry.

last year the pats had one of the nfl's elite defenses and put up 28+ pts in about half their games throwing to ####### jabar 'the hut' gaffney.

when they signed all those guys for '07 it was time for madden football.

cle is just another flat raccoon on the road to the superbowl.

eom: "last year the pats had one of the nfl's elite defenses"

So either you're making excuses, or backing down off of my "nutty" analysis that the same elite defense was exposed. Pick your poison.

Wow. As good as a punt as Randall Cunningham's 91 yarder at the Meadowlands.

Enjoy the game, eom. I'll leave you alone now to bask in the Pats' greatness.

:goodposting:

Looks like you girls have agreed to disagree.

Either way - first drive, NE goes down the field, and Cleveland stops them with first and goal on the 3. Brady throws it to a Brown in the endzone, but he drops it. FG Pats

Can someone explain to me why the rookie Eric Wright was covering Moss?

Wright got burnt on a play because he's too busy oogling Moss and not watching the ball.

Deja vu - with better results for the Pats...

Browns shred them all the way down the field and Anderson throws an INT in the endzone (from the 1 yard line).
