Jamal Lewis (1 Viewer)

Jamal Lewis, RB CLE

News: According to the News-Herald, Browns RB Jamal Lewis is optimistic he will not be down for long after getting knocked out of the game with a foot injury on the first play Sunday. Lewis said he feels pain on the bottom of his right foot. He dressed after the game and slipped on his shoes without wearing a boot or immobilizer on his injured foot.

Analysis: Lewis is hopeful of playing against the Dolphins in Week 6. He said he sprained his foot at the beginning of an 11-yard run. X-rays were negative. Lewis said the trainers have prescribed rest and ice. Fantasy owners are hopeful Lewis can return against the Dolphins, who came into Week 5 against Houston as the worst run defense in the NFL. Continue to monitor his status and hope Lewis can play against the Dolphins.

Rotoworld:

Jamal Lewis will undergo an MRI Monday on his foot.(Updated 10/08/2007) IMPACT He sounded positive about the injury after the game, but that's common for players. "It's kind of under the foot, but I'd really rather not speak on it right now," Lewis said. "It's nothing major, just like a small sprain or whatever." Lewis said he could have come back in to the game, but the tests Monday will tell the story.

Jason Wright had decent looking numbers for playing against NE, but didn't see the game. Is he decent bye week coverage against the Dolphins, assuming Jamal can't go?

Oct 8 The Browns were awaiting MRI results on running back Lewis' sprained right foot, an injury that knocked him out after one play in Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots.

Advice: Browns coach Romeo Crennel said Monday that X-rays on Lewis' foot were negative. Lewis didn't feel the injury was serious and after having his foot re-taped looked like he was ready to return.

MRI results pending still then??

Scott Petrak, of the Medina Gazette, reports Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis (foot) will undergo another MRI Monday, Oct. 8, to determine the severity of a foot injury sustained in Week 5. Initial X-rays came back negative.

Look for Lewis to really emphasize the tippy-toe dance this coming week. Against the weak Miami run defense a normal 5'-11" 235 lb bruiser would tear them up. Look for Jamal to take his normal 25 steps to the LOS, run into someone and fall down.

i haven't seen a lot of that this year.unless you're saying this will be due to the injured foot.

With alot of good starting RBs on byes this week, Wright looks like a huge possibility for a bye week RB. Definitely need to track any info as it comes in. Much appreciated guys...

dunno, but traded him off for colston in a ppr league. not gonna take the chance, after Deuce was my last RB who had negative x-rays but pending MRI results to his knee ...

Not MRI...but is a good sign...

BEREA, Ohio (AP) — The Cleveland Browns were awaiting MRI results on running back Jamal Lewis' sprained right foot, an injury that knocked him out after one play in Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots.

Browns coach Romeo Crennel said Monday that X-rays on Lewis' foot were negative.

Lewis broke off an 11-yard run on his only carry in the Browns' 34-17 loss before leaving the game. He didn't feel the injury was serious and after having his foot re-taped looked like he was ready to return.

"He wanted to come back in and they tested him on the sidelines and jogged him up and down but the medical people didn't feel like it was enough so they held him out," Crennel said.

Lewis signed a one-year free agent contract with the Browns in March after spending the past seven seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. He had off-season surgery on his right ankle, but said the foot injury was not related.

I have no idea if his injury is serious or not but I'll say the same thing about him I did about Addai, Javon Walker and Hines Ward this time last week. When a player is not near 100% and his bye week is coming up the following week they rarely play. Jamal Lewis might be fine after his bye week in week 7 but I see little chance of him playing this weekend even if the MRI comes out fine.

Agree 100%Picking up Wright tonight off of waivers.

Jason Wright: Could See More Carries

Update: With Jamal Lewis' (foot) status in question for Week 6, Wright could be in line for a bigger share of the workload on Sunday.

Recommendation: In relief of Lewis in Week 5, Wright had 15 carries for 59 yards and caught four passes for 43 yards against the Patriots. He'll have a nice matchup against the Dolphins on Sunday, so consider scooping him up if you're looking for bye-week plug-in at running back or for a flex spot.

Looks like I'll target Wright rather than Lewis for my bye week filler

This link is speculating rumors swirling in Cleveland. I guess word is out about picking up Jason Wright. Don't know the original source but thought i'd post it since everything else has been quiet.

RB Jason Wright----Jamal Lewis injured his foot on his first carry of the game. The MRI was negative but unofficial reports are that it may be a tear or even the dreaded lisc-franc injury. Jason checked in and carried 15 times for 59 yards and added an additional 43 yards on 4 receptions against a very stout New England defense. Good fantasy numbers in a PPR league especially not being mentally prepared to “start” the game. Cleveland plays Miami and @StL surrounding their bye so the possibility of big fantasy points in there. If Jamal is out for any length of time, Wright could pay huge dividends off the wire.

Has he practiced at all this week?

Lis Franc?
I hear ya'.....eerily close to describing that injury
No, actually he would have been carted off due to the enormous amount of pain had that been the case. Keep stirring the pot though someone might fall for it.
I agree with your point, but we don't know how many pain killers he was already on for the game. Some of these guys wouldn't feel you drive a nail through their foot. Cleveland has a nice playoff schedule, and their offense has been moving the ball. Now would be a good time to trade for Lewis and pickup Wright.

i guess if you haven't done it yet, pick up Wright if he's still available on the WW. I have a feeling Jamal may miss some time. Stay tuned...No news=Good news I hope.

per CBS

During a conference call with the Miami media, Browns coach Romeo Crennel said that RB Jamal Lewis (sprained right foot) will not practice on Wednesday and is resting in hopes to play on Sunday. His practice status for the rest of the week is not known.

looks like Lewis has a good shot to play..

I'm not sure missing practice indicates a good shot to play -- and I was counting on Jamal to get me through some byes, starting this week.

I just went ahead and stashed Wright on my roster. Hopefully, Jamal will either be inactive or clearly ready to start on Sunday, elminating the "gametime decision" dilemma about whether to start him or Wright.

he's in a boot, not practicing and they won't reveal the results of the MRI.Please do explain how it sounds likely that he plays this week?

sounds like at the minimum plantar fascitis (which i think Eddie George had a ton of problems with)

at worse, could be some sort of tear.

i don't like the fact that they wouldn't put him back into the game against NE.

Jamal Lewis (sprained foot) was in a protective boot and did not practice for the Browns on Wednesday.

"He's working to get back," coach Romeo Crennel said. "If he can play, he's going to play. We'll take it day to day, and we'll see how it does. Probably later in the week we'll know more." The results of Lewis' MRI were never revealed, but the fact that he was in a boot isn't a good sign. Jason Wright would make a solid flex play against Miami if Lewis sits out.

Stranger things have happened, but it doesn't sound like a guy who's going to be ready by Sunday. And as noted, heading into a bye week for an extra week of rest.

I just scooped up Jason Wright and am now trying to acquire Jamal Lewis cheaply (for Deshaun Foster). Their schedule from here on out is VERY easy and either one of them can be a solid RB2 from here on out.
