Miami ships WR Chambers to SD

San Diego has acquired wide receiver Chris Chambers from the Miami Dolphins for what is believed a second-round draft choice, FOXSports.com has learned.

Chambers confirmed the trade in an email to FOXSports, but declined further comment until speaking with Dolphins coach Cam Cameron and general manager Randy Mueller.

Chambers has 31 catches for 415 yards with no touchdowns this season.

John Clayton is on the radio in Seattle on 950 KJR-AM and announced that Miami just traded Chambers to San Diego. Good move for the Bolts! Not so much for Miami. No info was given for what San Diego gave in return, and obviously, no link.

I now own yet another Charger...funny how this is turning out. How does this affect everyone's value?

It's not April Fool's day, is it?

Wow, that came out of nowhere. SD has for the long term (or so I thought) a recent 2nd rounder in Jackson and a 2007 1st rounder in Buster Davis at WR, not to mention Gates and LT catching balls. Floyd was fine off the bench. I didn't think this was a great need area for them.

So I assume Chambers is going to move into the WR 1 role. If so what type of numbers do we expect out of Chambers. Gates has been consistent but WRing scoring has been terrible out of SD. Does having Chambers as the WR 1 change things?

Many of us Chambers owners will now have to make new plans to replace the void he has left this week due to a bye with SD.

Well it is an incredible upgrade for Chanbers. He is a great reciever who has been lost on that team.
I'm not really sure I see the upgrade here. His targets have been:1116125418...and what will they be on the Chargers. And when will he be comfortable enough with the plays? As a Chambers owner, I'm viewing this as a downgrade.

Unless they see Chambers as their WR 1 for the next few seasons ahead of all of these other WR's in which he will be.

I guess SD has their legit #1 WR now. Chambers is a great talent. A #2 seems like a steep price, but I guess that depends on what the contract looks like.

I have never been a big Chris Chambers fan, but I think this helps him and Phillip Rivers. It gives Rivers another option and Chambers won't have to be the #1 guy with Gates there. I think he does better as the #2 receiver. He might cut into Gates' numbers a little bit, but on the flip side, it opens things up for LT......like he needs more running room.

Big downgrade. He'll never ever ever ever see as many targets again as he did with the Dolphins. It's not like he'll stop dropping balls either. I think his upside is what people viewed Jackson's coming into the year.....at the very best.

Wow. A #2 for a guy who - according to FBG - catches less than 50% 0f the passes thrown his way.

I guess we'll find out if it's been him or the QBs he's had. But I feel like we've said that before. With Gates there (and LT2) he's sure out of excuses.

i think this is off base. targets dont equal nicely throw passes. plus the only other option miami was brown. on sandiego chambers should get seperation and many more LEGIT opps.

In this case, targets weren't leading to a whole lot of production...

He may get open more often but he'll no longer be the only realistic receiving option. Less passes/opportunities equal less production.

An over the hill Keenan McCardell put up 900 yards and 9 Tds two years ago. Those are pretty much on par with what Chambers was putting up in Miami.

wow. Surprising move for AJ if true.
Not really, he is afraid of his job and desperate to try and save Rivers status and perception (and thus his own).Makes perfect sense.Rivers can have a top OLine, Tomlinson, Gates and a damn good defense and yet it wasnt his fault. It was the fault of average WRs. Jacksonville and Tennesee say hello, among others.

 Chambers in Miami was a viable WR2, strong WR3 given the number of targets. He'll probably be seeing half of that with SD, especially at first.Next year may be a different story, but I wouldn't expect much this year.
