DeShaun Foster tidbit (1 Viewer)

The Panthers have won four of their last five against the Falcons, including a 27-20 victory in Atlanta on Sept. 23.

In that game, DeShaun Foster ran for 122 yards and broke a 17-17 tie with a 10-yard touchdown late in the third quarter, but Carolina lost Delhomme and linebacker Dan Morgan (Achilles') for the season. Morgan was officially placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Foster's success against Atlanta was nothing new. He's averaging 114.8 yards over his last five games against the Falcons, gaining 100 yards in four of those contests. Foster only has seven 100-yard games in his career.

foster huh....hhhmmm, interesting trend there, maybe he'll see his first time off the fantasy bench this week

Good thread. I was going to post one as well dictating his past success against Atlanta.

I don't usually pay much attention to past peformances against certain teams, but it's definitely worth noticing. And against a pretty poor team, Foster could make a nice start this week.

I think Vinny playing actually help Foster this game.

A passing threat will keep Atlanta's D honest.

what you are saying is that

DeShaun will be :lmao: this week

DeAngelo will be  this week

I'm actually considering starting Foster over MJD. The Titans D is great against the run and the Jags haven't used Drew in the passing game a whole lot this year. So, that being said you'll know if I went with Foster by the huge numbers Drew will put up!

I'd like to believe in this trend, but with the terrible QB situation in CAR, surely the Falcons will throw everything and the kitchen sink at stopping the run.

FWIW....There was an in depth piece on the Falcons here locally & the scuttlebutt is that the D, Coaches & players, are well aware of Foster's big games against them & are specifically game planning for him.

Of course the situation was the same last year when DeAngelo took snaps against Falcons and Panthers won that game too. Expect a lot of running from both teams today.

Anyone considering starting Deshaun over SJax?
considering? i'm definitely doing it
Always start your studs. Period!
Is SJax really considered a "stud" this year? The DeShaun over SJax is one situation I'm pondering as well. It's intriguing seeing the comments on Foster in this thread, but I am still leaning towards SJax in this situation. Especially with the earlier postings on the fact that ATL is well aware of getting burned by Foster in the past and the lack of QB you just have to figure that ATL DEF will be stacking the box on Foster....

The Falcons did that last year when Chris Weinke was QBing, and the Panthers ran the ball down their throat. The Panthers even had DeAngelo Williams taking direct snaps. Foster and Williams will get the ball a lot today.

It was embarrassing that the Panthers had to win that way last year, but it worked. Weinke only threw the ball 7 times in that game, and I think whoever QB's today, they will throw it more than that, but I think the main goal will be to keep it on the ground, and try to control the clock.

This is why you start your studs. Kinda seems silly to even have considered starting Foster over Jackson. That's why sometimes you can overthink fantasy football.
It's also a reason to not pay too much attention to how well a particular player has played in the past versus a particular team.
