Free Agent market part 1 - Randy Moss. (1 Viewer)

Scenario: Randy Moss becomes a free agent in 2008. Whoever signs him, signs him for 4 years.

Question: For your favorite NFL team, what amount would be acceptable to sign him for?

State your team and the total dollar amount for the 4 year contract. A per season amount is fine also as is "Zero"/"wont sign".

I trade Michael Turner for him, straight up. Sign him to whatever deal I could.

Chargers using Gates/LT/Moss/Chambers ... imagine if they could get a better QB!

Patriots using Brady/Turner/Welker/Stallworth ... they could use the running game boost and they can throw anyone out there at WR and perform.

Trade? He is a free agent. Sign him to whatever deal I could

So you would be willing to sign him to a HUGE deal? Moss+Gates+Chambers+Tomlinson :potkettle:

I would love the Bears to sign him. Toss Moose out the door. Might even be able to keep Grossman as all he needs to do is throw it up and Moss brings it down.

I know it wont happen /Fantasy.

Won't happen. San Diego would never sign him - and I seriously doubt he would go to a team with such a lousy QB.

The local scuttlebutt is Moss won't get anywhere near free agency. He's going to sign a deal with the Pats but he can't do it right now due to the timing of his renegotiation when he came onboard with the Pats.

I'm not sure I would want to sign him for my team due to the cost, I suspect he will become the highest paid WR in the NFL.

What did Terrell Owens get? I think Moss gets that and then some...he may take a discount, but it will not be significant. I'm thinking the Pats throw him 8 million per and he takes it...

Fun thread, but Moss won't be going anywhere other than New England.
Why? I don't know all the details on his contract. Do the pats have control over whether he becomes a UFA or not? Or can Randy on his own decide if he'll be a UFA this offseason? Or... are you suggesting that the Randy/Pats relationship is going so well that neither side will want to part.

He has 1 year deal.New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss accepted a one-year contract worth $3 million, with $2 million in earned incentives,

He will be a free agent unless an extension is reached.

I hear from the inside that both sides are mutually in love with each other and the word is that they are inseperable. Even Adam Schefler of the NFL Network has made comments that the likelihood of Moss' return to NE is 100% (and that has nothing to do with what I heard).Moss was not able to negotiate an extension in recent weeks because he did so to be able to come to NE and there is a stipulation that you can only do that once per NFL calender year. While my source could not confirm that a deal has been agreed upon to be announced in the future, my source did mention that it would not be that big of a surprise if such a conversation had taken place. The Pats WILL pay top dollar (or very close to it) for guys that they consider elite, and certainly Moss has put up huge numbers to date this year.If somehow that all fell apart, the Pats could franchise him and have him for a steal even at Top 5 money.I'm certainly anything from an official source, but I highly doubt Moss is going anywhere anytime soon.

Saints fan and I'd give up the whole defense for him. They're practically non-existent anyway.

Brees to Moss with Bush and Colston running free would = :kicksrock:

If they franchised him, Randy wouldn't like it and become Raider Moss again and play with no effort. that said, i think he'll sign with the Pats again.

Moss will be a Patriot. He may take a discount, but not much. Bellichick won't let that weapon out of the arsenal.

Not remotely interested in Moss. After a while, he'll become disinterested and not feel like playing anymore. He doesn't have the discipline to play just because it's his job. This will happen in New England after he gets a ring, too.

The Patriots have the perfect scenario. The get him for a year when he has something to prove and they have a great shot to win a title. It's downhill from here imo. If I was New England, I'd lock up Welker and groom that rookie (Jackson?) to play beside him. I wouldn't worry about Moss for future seasons. The 2007 version isn't going to be around ever again, and if they were 2-7 he'd be totally different this year.

He could have been the best WR to ever play the game, but he didn't care. He's going to burn a lot of fantasy teams (and one NFL team) next year.

I can't see him going anywhere else. Things are going so smoothly in NE and it looks as if they aren't even trying. I guess someone might throw unreal money at him but I don't think that is as big a motivator for Moss as other players. He would get a nice signing bonus and a back loaded contract from any team but I think he stays in NE and just plays.

I see him in New England, but would love to have him in Washington. It's Dan Snyder math, so whatever it takes is fine with me.
