First of all, take these all with a grain of salt.
Secondly, these are for educational purposes only.
Third - I think it is a major mistake to try and predict all games.
My ranking system is based on "Stars", which gauges how strongly I feel about each pick.
Last week I had a slow week - just 10-4. After going 9-1, including my Stone Cold
of the Year, then 9-6 and then 7-3 the prior three weeks, 34-14 isn't a bad month. That spread makes New England jealous. As for this week, I will make the Thanksgiving edition a little early then add on for Sunday / Monday games. So - how about some picks?
Let's go:
*ONE STAR GAMES*
Green Bay Packers (-3) at Detroit Lions - (1 star)
This game looks like a throwback waiting to happen. Back to the glory days of a Run-n-Shoot in a dome and Brett Favre under center for the Pack.... wait a minute. Favre is playing in this one. And Jon Kitna is better than Scott Mitchell. Both teams' defenses are better this time 'round, but they also can both score. I think the Pack are back and proving to a national TV audience that the Lions aren't going to get to that 10th win so easy. Green Bay by 7.
Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions (OVER 47) - (1 star)
Throw, throw, throw the ball, gently through the dome..... seriously, we could be looking at 40+ passing attempts from both QBs here. Forget the ground game and establishing it - Favre will be Favre and Mike Martz will try and show off his offense. Both will try and one up the other, and the scoreboard will be tested almost as much as both secondaries. The game is in a dome and on turf do Detroit will actually be able to run up some points. The winner will need 30 in this one. Green Bay 34, Detroit 27.
Dallas Cowbys (-14) vs. New York Jets - (1 star)
The Jets are 29th against the run, so look for Marion Barber to be used quite often. Sure we'll see Julius Jones, but the real work will be done by MB3. Crayton may be out of this game, but he's not been the favored target for Romo anyway. It's all about TO and Witten. The Jets? Well, look for them to crash land after winning a game they shouldn't have and struggle to travel on the short week. Coles may play, but he's not 100% for certain even if he is active. Dallas will get at least 3 TDs and put up a 30+ spot on the Jets. I don't think Clemens can get to 17 and he will be sacked several times back there. Look out below. Cowboys by at least 17. I figure Dallas 31, Jets 13.
**TWO STAR GAMES**
Indianapolis Colts (-11.5) at Atlanta Falcons - (2 stars)
How is this not a bigger line? Okay, I will admit that the Colts haven't looked good as of lae and they have to go on the road to Atlanta - but it is Atlanta we're talking about here. ATLANTA! Home to Joey Harrington, last I checked, but I better check multiple times before kickoff because they may change QBs again. The Colts actually need to travel and get out of town, and they do not want another problem game to weigh on their minds with 1.5 weeks off until the next game. The biggest issue here for the Falcons (other than they aren't very good) is that both Rod Coleman and Trey lewis, thier DTs, just went on IR. Ouch. Addai will run wild, and I bet Kenton Keith does well in the fourth quarter. Colts big in a game not many will see on the NFL Network - and ultimately they will be thankful. Colts 31, Falcons 10.
***THREE STAR GAMES***
None.
of the Week - Coming Soon.
So I don't love the 3 games, but there is at least one play in each one. That'll hold you until Friday/Saturday for the rest of my picks.
Enjoy.
