Official Denver RB Thread (1 Viewer)

The Denver Broncos have ruled RB Travis Henry out for Sunday's game in Chicago. However, RB Selvin Young saw his first on-field of the week after suffering a knee strain against the Titans. But Young's work was limited, as was the case for FB Paul Smith, who also returned to the field after missing the previous two days, leaving both questionable for Sunday's game in Chicago. "We'll get a chance to work them out before the game and we'll see where we're at there," HC Mike Shanahan said. WR Javon Walker practiced Friday, but was limited for the first time this week.

Travis Henry (knee) has been ruled out for Week 12 against Chicago. Selvin Young (knee) is listed as questionable, and did limited work Friday.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Young will be worked out before Sunday's 4:05 game to determine whether he'll start. He's worth waiting for if you have Andre Hall in reserve or similar options in later games. Shanahan believes Henry will be healthy enough to play in Week 13. The chances of Henry winning the appeal of his year suspension seem to be improving.

Shanahan and GTD....bad combo. That said, if Selvin can go Shanny seems to prefer to stick with one guy, especially one who can block better on 3rd downs than the other guys. But unless you have Andre Hall or a better late game option, it's too risky to start Selvin and then have him inactive. Sadly, I have to start Fred Taylor in a 1pm game vs. risking Selvin being inactive

I have a similar choice, but I have Taylor, Young and Hall. I will wait for the 4 PM game and play the guy who starts for Denver.

any info, a guy put Bell in his line up, why?
It wouldn't surprise me if Skeletor started M. Bell at RB just to piss off all the fantasy football guys. Why did I pick up Hall and put myself in this situation. :lmao: I should know better than to touch a Denver RB.

Man, late game with my other options injured its either Young or ..........Ricky Williams off waivers??
I'm in the same spot. Wish I could get some news on Selvin before 1ET. I'd have to pick up A thomas to guarentee a starter, even though I dont like that matchup. Is there any sources that update for the 4:15ET games?

CBS Sportsline reporting Young is out:

Report: RB Young OUT vs. Bears

Selvin Young, RB DEN

News: According to a report on CBS, Broncos RB Selvin Young will miss Sunday's game at Chicago with a knee injury. Young was hurt last week against Tennessee.

Analysis: Continue to check back before setting your lineup, but it appears Young will miss the Bears game. Andre Hall is expected to start for the Broncos against the Bears, so keep Young reserved for Week 12.

any info, a guy put Bell in his line up, why?
CBSSports.com has learned that Denver's Mike Bell has worked with the first- and second-team units at running back this week in preparation for the team's Week 12 game at Chicago. According to a source, Bell expects to get some work in behind potential starter Andre Hall and even play a consistent role in the game if he does well in the early going. The opportunity for Bell opened up when Selvin Young got hurt last week and hasn't practiced this week. Young and Travis Henry are both questionable for this week's game.(Updated 11/23/2007). Fantasy Analysis Bell is worth a look off the waiver wire in all leagues but is a last-ditch desperation RB for Fantasy owners. He had been switched to fullback earlier this season but appears to be back on the running back depth chart as the team signed FB Kyle Johnson earlier this week. Again, Bell is worth a flier but not worth starting just yet.

Be cautios - expected to start by fantasy world - Shanahan may have different ideas. Shanny already spread some carries around - I would expect Hall to get a smaller percent of touches than Young has in refent weeks.

And with Knuckles post regarding Bell and I think it's likely Hall won't be the goal line back, I think Hall is an avoid this week.

Do you have a link? Its just pretty important as I would make the switch. If a source like CBS posts someone is OUT, does that mean it's 100%?

I don't have a link because I'm logged into live scoring for my CBS Sports league, so the link would just take you to my league's page. But I'm sure if you go to CBS Sports.com and click on fantasy football, you can find the info -- I just cut and pasted it.Just because CBS is reporting it, it doesn't necessarily mean it's true.

I confirm what Knuckles says as being posted on CBS - again I am on my league page so there's no link - you can find it probably in their general NFL stuff

Avoid Hall or roll the dice - if you come up short, no complaining. I have them both and went in a different direction.

THE NEWS

Denver running back Selvin Young will be inactive along with Travis Henry on Sunday according to the CBS pregame show, leaving Andre Hall to start against the Bears. Mike Bell will serve as the backup.

Our View

Hopefully Henry or Young owners were able to pick up Hall this week, and given the starting job this week he is definitely a fantasy starter.

Curious who' s starting him and over who?

I benched him for D. Branch.

And before the complaining, this is just to log a fantasy collective value for the day on Hall's performance.

I am considering starting Hall over Gore this week if this turns out to be 100% accurate.

Starting Hall over Reuben Droughns.Look how thrilled I am --->

I don't get why one wouldn't start him with this news over fringe candidates?

You really think Mike Bell is going to come in there and steal a lot of his FF value.

As far as putting him in today - I just think it's a big roll of the dice. One huge run last week and he's an A-lister. Plus I still don't like his chances to score unless beyond about 10 yards.

THANK YOU!!! Come on Justin Gage, bring home the playoffs!!!!

Plus the 3:00 start may help in some instances - if you're losing big, give him the call and hope for a long TD run or two. If you're leading or only behind by a few, i think you have to look to see if you have better options for consistency.

I'm starting Hall over Chatman ... decimated by injuries in one of my leagues, and won't know Chatman's status until tomorrow, so I'm rolling the dice with Hall.

From NFL.com

Denver Broncos:

Inactives: QB Darrell Hackney (3rd QB), WR Taylor Jacobs, RB Travis Henry, RB Paul Smith, DB Jeff Shoate, RB Selvin Young, DE Larry Birdine, DE Paul Carrington.

Fantasy take: Henry and Young are both inactive, so RB Andre Hall will start against a vulnerable Chicago run defense. WR Javon Walker is active and will see his first action since Week 3. His return hurts the value of WR Brandon Stokley.
