Detroit Lions 2008 Draft Thread (1 Viewer)

Now that the house of cards has completely collapsed, let's look ahead to next years draft. Which way do we go? O-Line, DBs, another WR??? Whatcha got?

Considering Millen will still be GM... anything is possible. You have to go OL...or get some help there. I'm sure they will sign some re-tread or two instead.

The Lions like all teams seem to have a bunch of holes. The main thing the Lions need to do is make their picks count. If they could get a quality player in the secondary....do it, we need it.

If you could get a very good offensive lineman, do it.

If you thought you had the QB for the future...do it.

Just don't waste picks.

Detroit Loves its Stanton pick from last season, Probably wont be looking QB.However I think they will get a Solid CB or OL in the first. They should be picking around the 13-18 range. Might just be the perfect fit to grab the #1 CB in the draft. (just going from recent mocks)

We need help at nearly every position on D--our only quality players on that side are Sims and Rogers. On O we have a bunch of wannabes--our line is terrible our QB situation isn't nearly what most people thought it was, our WRs are okay and our TEs...well I guess with everything else who has time to worry about TEs.What will happen first? Old man Ford kicks the bucket or Millen gets canned?

It's pretty obvious that CB and LB (after Ernie Sims) are the worst areas, along with an elite pass rusher and right tackle. There is not a cornerback on the roster that is starter worthy.

Based on reports out of the Senior Bowl practices, there are lots of good prospects for the Lions at their spot.

For the o-line, guys like Chris Williams and Sam Baker would be good picks and both are having great weeks at the senior bowl.

A few DBs are performing really well, with names like Domonique Rodgers-Cromartie and Leodis McKelvin popping up quite a bit.

The two guys that I would be looking at if I were in Millen's shoes would be linebackers Keith Rivers and Phillip Wheeler.

One thing (I guess among the many) that I do not understand is that they fired Martz to bring offensive balance by running the ball more then they get rid of most of their RB's. Do they think Tatum is the answer? They must be looking at a RB in the draft. McFadden is not going to fall to them unless they try to make a move up. Stewart? Mendenhall? Jones?

As a Lion's fan I will be super PO'd (but not surprised) if they draft an RB in round 1. They need a MLB, OL (you name it), and DE presence well before RB. I am not opposed to them drafting one, but rounds 1 & 2 should be in different areas unless someone free-falls.

Fair enough. Further this draft looks fairly deep as far as RB goes but I am just not completely understanding the reasoning for both Jones and Duckett no longer on the roster and going into a season with a commitment to run more with Tatum being the only real RB you have. Just confusing to me.

I've been saying it for years...Detroit is ok with not winning. BUT in order to keep the fans shelling out $$$ for tickets, they always seem to take the "sexy" name in the draft. I would not be shocked to see them try to make a play for DMC if he falls to 7 (pats pick). Otherwise grab Mendenhall or Stewart.

I just saw on ESPN an interview with Kitna. Now hes saying he will win "more than ten games". The guys on espn were saying "really? another guarantee?"and Kitna said "yes". I feel bad for the team, because they have a pretty brutal schedule and winning 9 games will be an accomplishment and improvement.

I feel bad for the guys in this thread, these type threads. Every year you play the usual fun "what if" game that everyone plays with their favorite team, but instead it seems you usually get a WR. On the surface it's nothing but that's pretty rough when you're rooting for other needs to be filled and teamp improvement and all that
