FWP owners - what to do in week 15? (1 Viewer)

OK, he looked much better against NE. He should have - they've been getting trounced on the ground lately. Still got pulled in every red zone opportunity. (How in the world does a guy getting positive yardage all night long not get a single chance to pound it in from the 1? An end around to Hines Ward?).

Jax much tougher vs. the run. Heinz field footing sucks as well. I just can't see more than 60 yards and no TD's no matter how optimistic I get. Thoughts?

In what has otherwise been a stellar fantasy football season for me, Parker has been a huge disappointment. He's the weakest link on my team. But, I don't really have much depth at running back, so I'll end up playing Parker and hoping he can come close to 100 yards, or maybe, just maybe sniff the endzone. Kolby Smith is the only other viable option I have, and I'll check the situation before game time, but I'll probably roll with Parker.

Marcus Stroud got banged up yesterday...that'll help him a little. One of these weeks he's bound to get another TD...isn't he? :banned:

I think your worries are warranted. I'm evaluating Parker against Kevin Jones in San Diego and there's no way I'm penciling in Willie atm.

To note: I know it's early, but keep tabs on the weather. Hopefully it gets cold enough to keep the rain away. With that field, snow's got to be the preference? A very early and lazy weather.com lookup shows 70% chance of precip and 34 as the high for Sunday.

Snow muh brotha.

He will be in my lineups. All my leagues are PPR, so it was a good sign to see the 3 grabs last week.

I've made the playoffs luckily by losing my last 3 games but having others in my division losing as well. I have FWP, Reggie Bush and Frank Gore. Backups are D. Williams, Julius Jones, and Chris Brown. I play in a TD scoring league. I'm completely screwed.

I am still alive with FWP and have to get him in there as I have MJD and Selvin Young as my other options. If FWP can do this vs. the greatest team in the universe he can do this at home vs the Jags. And what is this about the crummy field in PITT? Hey- you won 5 world championships and you play in a brand new stadium- step up some day......

I didn't think there'd be any Willie Parker owners alive in Week 15. I know I'm not.
FWP is great in leagues that don't need TD's.
FWP is the 11th ranked RB in my league, which awards for yardage and TDs (no PPR). We have a 3 point bonus at 100 yards, and he gets there often fortunately. He has been a disappointment for sure due to the glaring lack of TDs, but at 11 he is still a weak RB1, strong RB2. You have to be in really good shape at RB or have some great matchups to sit him IMO. He is practically a lock for 20+ touches, and with all of the RBBCs and unproven starters out there right now, 20+ touches from a proven producer is somewhat of a comfort IMO.That said, I do wish I had someone on my roster that I was more comfortable starting vs the Jags, but if Stroud is hurt it may open some things up. Is John Henderson back yet?Edit - I looked it up and it does appear as though Henderson is back. Then I realized that it was actually Stroud that had been suspended - not Henrderson. I am not sure Henderson was ever even out. Please look elsewhere for fantasy football guidance. I clearly have polluted my brain to the point where I am relatively useless.

You guys need to take it easy on FWP how do you complain about a guy that can get you on average of about 12 points a week, sure he doesnt get the TD's but you can't sit him now.

When I saw the Stillers handoff to Hines Ward on the 1 instead of ramming the ball in with Parker... I knew he was no longer a viable fantasy option. Despite of all the tweaking of numbers/fantasy scoring systems etc. I cannot believe there are any FWP owners who are not disapointed in what he has done this year. I have him in two leagues and in one I will choose between JLewis,MBIII and McGahee and in the other it will be between Gore,ADP and McGahee.

The good news is the Steelers play much better at home. Also, FWP consistently gets the touches needed to produce...I don't see that changing this weekend. He will get his 15-20 carries....you can't feel comfortable that a Kevin Jones, MBIII or MJD type back will get that many opportunities. I just don't see how you can sit him. What is the status of the Jags defensive lineman?

This week for Willie Parker owners it really has to come down to your fantasy supporting cast. If you are looking for a solid play b/c the rest of your team will produce then go with Parker, but if you need some magic to win this week then look elsewhere. I have a solid team and cannot afford to risk starting other guys who could end up with 2-3 points...so I am going with Parker and his 20 touches, hopefully that produces at least 8 points.

 im in the exact same situation. ill take the consistent 10-15 pts (ppr), we(collective FWP owners) would love a TD out of him, but being in the semi's, i cant affort to risk starting another who may lay a goose egg and be the reason for getting knocked out of the playoffs.

I think Young is a better option than FWP this week.

I am still playing him. Unless someone convinces me that Gado is a better option (not likely). FWP has not lot or won me any games this year. He is a solid place holder.

This is pretty bad news for the Jags, but it could make a big difference for FWP this week. Isnt Stroud a dominant run-stuffing DT?

Just looked at the weather report. Ugh.

Heavy rains all week and then snow on Sunday. Does anybody need a reminder the last time he played in bad weather?

Maybe I should go with Stecker or R White.

You mean when he had 99 yards combined vs. Cincy? Since when is 100 yards combined not a good game? :goodposting: Or maybe you are talking about the 90 yard combined game vs. Miami in slop that NOBODY could have run on?That being said though, I do have a choice of starting Stecker....I will wait until I see what my Thursday and Saturday guys do before I make that decision. If I want a solid chance at 8 pts I will go with FWP, if I need a ton I may go with Stecker

I'm trying to land Selvin Young from the FA wire, and, if I had to make a decision today, would play him over FWP this week. Variable is Stroud's IR and whether I can gather if that will make a fundamental difference in the Jags ability to stop the run. They just play tough and will always contest/control the line of scrimmage. Hoping I can win this week and then have FWP go off on the turf at STL next week in the SB!

The cincy game where he fumbled 4 times and was lucky to only lose two...yes.

How Selvin Young is on any FA wire at this point boggles the mind. Hope you land him.

:homer: 8 team league then?

Nah Snoop.... I drafted Parker and McGahee 1st and 2nd.....ADP in the 4th or 5th and traded for Gore after he started stinking in hopes that he would right the ship.... I gave up Marshall, Schaub and MBIII for him...

Not that far fetched in small roster leagues as pointed out above. 2 weeks ago, it was all about Travis Henry and Andre Hall. When Travis was cleared, his owner dropped him. We have 14 spots, can't afford any dead wood. I did get him though, and at this point am starting him over FWP.

I could run against Cincy and Miami. Jax is another story.

Is there somewhere on this site that has the fantasy points per game that the Jags have given up to opposing running backs?

The Data Dominator is actually a very nice tool. From the home page click on the Stats tab and then click on the Data dominator.

Obviously this still depends on your scoring system, but they give up about an average of 16.1 points a game to RB's. That is ALL RB's for a team, not individual RB's.

Edited to change number:

I am a member, but don't use anything but the message boards and emails.
There are some great features available aside from these boards (which are also great). On Tuesday, Drinen puts out a tool that tells you how much each team gives up on average to each position in a standard scoring league. You can customize it if you want. Very basic and easy to use. In the standard scoring system, Jax is the 9th best D vs RBs giving up 16.1 PPG to the position.Several of those games are without Stroud, since he was suspended for 4 games. I did not do the breakdown to see how they performed without him relative to how they performed with him. I am far too lazy for that. I bet there is a big difference though, FWIW.

I think people who bench FWP may regret doing so. He has not scored many TD but with 3 games still left it would not suprise me to see FWP end the season with 6TD (not including playoffs). The law of averages are in his favor here even if he has to score from a distance.

Even if he doesen't score the yardage has been solid. He does lead the league in rushing yards. So unless you have some serious powerhouse RBs to start over him I dont see how u bench FWP. A Denver RB need not apply. The Texans run defense is pretty good. At least as good as a JAX D minus Stroud (unless Ryans is a scratch).

JAX will not have the same success with their running game against the Steelers as they are used to. This will put additional pressure of Gerrard to keep the chains moving and could lead to turnovers. I do not see JAX being able to win TOP easily in this game like they are used to doing.

All of these things will help FWP. I don't see many scenarios where I would consider benching FWP.

Coach Jack Del Rio said Stroud will be sidelined at least six weeks, too long for the Jaguars (9-4) to consider keeping him on the active roster.

"It's a shame to lose him, but that's the situation," Del Rio said. "Like we've done all year when we lose people, we'll do the best we can to have other people step up, step in and play well, and we expect to continue to play good football."

The Jaguars signed former Houston Texans linebacker Shantee Orr to fill Stroud's roster spot.

Jacksonville already is playing without two defensive starters: linebacker Mike Peterson (hand) and defensive end Reggie Hayward (groin). Both have been ruled out of Sunday's game at Pittsburgh.

Without Stroud, backup Rob Meier will move back into the starting lineup alongside Henderson, and veteran Grady Jackson and rookie Derek Landri will get more playing time
FWP may be able to find some room to roam up the middle with all these injuries and we know how well he does in space...

Great point. I can see Parker having a real tough first half, and then start accumulating yardage later in the game, as the Jags defense spends extended time on the field.

this weather is concernng me, im torn between FWP and kevin jones - also have kolby smith but doubt hell be in my lineup. based on some Chargers' injuries and his good week last week, im leaning to Kjones. My only fear here is that LT runs wild and then Lions have to play from behind.

He is going to play well. Bounce back game for the Steelers who know that they have to run it at home in the bad weather....

I have the same decision to make. My opponent has Selvin going tonight....my plan is to keep Parker in my lineup, and wait to see what Selvin does tonight. If he blows up, then I will likely need more production than Parker will give me to win, and I will roll the dice with KJ. If Selvin is pedestrian, I will stick with Parker as he is a safer bet to get 8-10 points. My point is, owners needing Parker to produce 100+ and a td, will likely be disappointed. That being said, he should get enough carries to produce at his normal rate against the Jags.
