Rank the Hotness (1 Viewer)

Despyzer

Lousy Attention Whore
Rank the head coaches for how hot their seat is heading into this offseason.

For me, it shakes out like this:

Almost out the door

Mike Nolan

John Fox

Very hot

Cam Cameron

Herman Edwards

Brian Billick

Marvin Lewis

Joe Gibbs

Somewhat hot

Andy Reid

Am I missing someone? Overrating someone's hotness?

Take Andy Reid off the list. The Eagles ownership loves Andy Reid. Unless the Eagles have 3 4-12 seasons in a row, Reid will be the the coach for life. He will most likely step down before he is ever fired.

You need to add Holmgren and Coughlin. If they're one and done in the playoffs (or slip out of contention), I think they're gone.

Edit- and take Gibbs off the list. He's a legend in that town. Snyder would never give him the boot if he's willing to throw money at "talent" like Brandon Lloyd and James Thrash.

I think you should say "Rank the Hotness of Their Seat". Oh wait, that don't sound so good either...

I think Billick should be in the "Almost Out The Door" category with the loss to the Dolphins. It's just very hard to see how he keeps his job at this point.

I think that while Marvin perhaps rightly is in the "Very Hot" section, the Bengal reality is probably more like "Somewhat Hot". I really think the Bengals will give him the 1 more year to work it out with perhaps only a bad loss to the Dolphins changing that equation.

I think that Coughlin still even at this point should be in the "Somewhat Hot" category. If they somehow collapse all the way out the playoffs in Mets-like fashion, he's certainly gone. Even a playoff berth might not be enough if they do nothing and donk out in poor form in the first round.

It may not be fair, but Marinelli should be in the "Somewhat Hot" category based on the 6-game losing streak, but I think in Millenworld he's probably truly safe.

A Seahawk local needs to chime in, but I would be really surprised if Holmgren is any trouble. This appears to be an over reaction to yesterday's fiasco. Remember at the beginning of the season, most pundits had Ari or SF ahead of Seattle. I think Holmgren has secured atleast another year.

Linehan? I was thinking a "pass" for all the injuries, until I finally got to watch a Rams game from start to finish. Playcalling and gameplanning by that guy is just awful. And punting when only down 2 scores in the 4th Q....uhhh, what's your record again? Why are you trying to limit the amount you get beat by, instead of actually trying *Herm voice* "to WIN the GAME!!"

Billick

Lewis

Those are the only 2 definites I think, that should absolutely be out

Billick should be on the OUT Seat but god knows what the Ravens front office thinks most times...he is awful and the recent loss to the Dolphins should ensure he gets the boot

Fox, in my opinion, gets a bye this year due to the obscene number of injuries they suffered...but if Grimace, read Cowher, decides to pull a Parcells then Fox is fair game...

Cam gets a pass for the same reasoning as Fox but without the Cowher Caveat

Gibbs should be gone, they don't play his style of football anymore and I don't care if he's Superman about the one thing DC can agree on is that Gibbs sucks

I can't see how Cameron is on the hot seat. Surely they'll give him more time to turn that ship around, it's been a long time since they've been good.

Take Andy Reid off the list. The Eagles ownership loves Andy Reid. Unless the Eagles have 3 4-12 seasons in a row, Reid will be the the coach for life. He will most likely step down before he is ever fired.
If he doesn't get that weight under control, "for life" won't be very long.

and i thought this was going to be about cheerleaders...
 Realistically, you can put Herm Edwards on this list. I've never had that "Man, this guy is going to put us over the edge and win a SB" feeling with him - in KC or NY. I feel like he is just keeping the seat warm until a better candidate comes along.

If Holmgren were to not be the coach next season, I expect it would be due to his resignation. Possible front office opportunities in GB or SF would be tempting. The offseason, even with meager cap space, might lead a reflective Holmgren to let a new coach determine how to handle the wholesale changes that need to happen at the Oline.
