At least now I can not only root for the Patriots b/c I want to see history in the making, but I can root for them because I HATE the Giants.
Is this the first time brothers that are starting QBs start in the Super Bowl in consecutive years?

I think it may open near there but that will lead to HEAVY action on the Pats...it'll be 14.5+ by kickoff.

I honestly believe after watching this Giant team over the last few weeks that they have a decent chance against New England. I never would have thought that early in the year, but they are playing GREAT defense, Eli is stellar, the running game looks good, and frankly, the Pats haven't looked so dominant lately.
I'm trying not to let my feelings about these teams inform my opinion here. At first glance, I think this will be a very tight game, and the Giants have a shot.

We never do get the games we want, do we? New England/Indy would have been one of the biggest games ever. New England/Green Bay would certainly have been the most watched SB ever (this one may still be) but it never turns out.

I'm not sure how you define "decent"...but it would be arguably the biggest upset in Super Bowl history if the Giants win.
However, having New York winning another title is far, far, worse than Boston getting another.

And by "dud" that was comparative to what could have been. NYG just isnt a very attractive team outside of fans of NY. Everyone will think NE will blow em out. I would say Im a pretty big football fan but if I were to miss the Super Bowl it wouldnt bother me at all this year.

Honestly the Patriots are just winning ugly at this point. They haven't played at the top of their game since routing the Bills many many weeks ago. Meanwhile the Giants are playing their best ball of the season. I'd take the points and the Giants.

The biggest upset in Super Bowl History was Jets over Colts, Superbowl III. The second biggest upset was Patriots over Rams a few years ago. This one would fall in between. The reason the Jets upset is bigger is that no one believed the AFL really measured up. In fact, had the Colts been dominant, they might have called off the Superbowl and merger.The biggest upset in Sports History is either Buster Douglas defeating Mike Tyson or The US Hockey team beating the USSR at Lake Placid. No SB upset reaches those surprises, IMO.

How is the SB matchup not exciting? The story with the Pats is obvious but the Giants have not only won 10 straight road games (unprecedented) but they've knocked off the two best teams in the NFC at their home stadiums. Anyone remember the week 17 game at Giants Stadium? This will not be the cakewalk that some of you are expecting.

No, not really. I'm saying we had a little interest in the whole Favre thing. But with both our teams gone and now Favre out too, we just really don't have anything to make us feel compelled to watch the game.

The Giants and the Cowboys are ordinary NFL teams as far as talent is concerned. The Patriots are some kind of Frankenstien NFL team that really needs to be broken up in the interests of football. They'll stay undefeated as long as that team stays together.
Why? Is it mentally taxing for you to read a one line post that doesn't pay homage to your team or something?

That last game was like a surprise sucker punch from some scrub fighter against the world champ. The Patriots will have plenty of time to disect and dismantle what the Giants throw out there. It's really not going to be close.

1. The Bucs will run on The Giants,Garcia won't make mistakes and The Tampa D will control the game
2. The Cowboys have more talent,can run the ball and Romo has too many weapons for The Giants to stop
3. The Packers with their receivers will be too much for the depleted Giants secondary and Ryan Grant will run enough to open it up for Favre,plus,COLD,LAMBEAU,HOME FIELD.
Sooner or later someone may be right but the fact is there are only TWO teams still standing and three of them are NOT the Bucs,'Boys or Packers.
The Giants are playing well,aren't intimidated by New England and will give them and US a great Super Bowl. +15 looks like a gift to me.

I don't care that the Patriots are undefeated, they are NOT the greatest team of all time. There was a time during this year when I thought they might be, but the fact is, they've struggled in the playoffs. The team that I think is the greatest, the 1989 San Francisco 49ers, completely crushed everyone they faced in the playoffs by a large margin. That for me is a decisive difference. If this Patriot team wins the SB, they're probably 4 or 5 on my list.

Stating that we really don't care to watch the game is whining and declaring ourselves as some sort of martyr? Seriously?? Sorry if the whole world isn't thrilled about this matchup. That's a fair viewpoint. Still, it's a far cry from Joe Bryant's stance that it would be laughable to consider this team the best team of all time.
