LJ iand Portis are solid choices here, but if I was drafting a start up dynasty I think I would go younger/less mileage and take either MJD or Gore at this point, so I'll limit my comments to just those two players.

MJD > Gore

MJD is as safe a bet to finish top 10 as anyone else on this list, and he's going to be only 23 years old to start the 2008 season.

Even though Gore has touched the ball more often over the last two seasons, MJD has done significantly more with his touches. Gore had 85 more touches in '07, and MJD still managed to finished ahead of him in fantasy points. Also, he doesn't have the injury history or the offensive woes of San Francisco working against him that Gore does. Better yet he only has a 32 year old Fred Taylor (coming off a career year) standing in his way of increased workload. I'll concede that Gore is more likely to hit 300 carries in '08 than MJD, but Fred Taylor isn't going to be averaging over 5YPC again, and MJD will have to start taking more of the RB load as Freddie declines.

MJD does everything well, 3 down RB, pass protection, catches the ball, takes it to the house, enjoys goal line duties and has a propensity for the end zone having already scored over two dozen touchdowns in his first two seasons. I'll predict at least 200 carries for MJD in 2008 and another top 10 finish with 300+ carries by 2009 and no worse than a top 5 finish in fantasy scoring. He is going to be a S-T-U-D for years to come and IMO 2008 will be the beginning of his ascendancy towards elite status.

One of the problems with doing a generic ranking shows when you're getting to this point here. I don't think there's any real debate among the top 5, although some will say Westbrook > SJax or argue AD/LT. When you hit this spot though, the type of league is huge. If it's a smaller league with less starters, I'm shooting high and taking MJD or maybe Lynch. If it's a large league where you want solid production from each player, Portis is a good pick. I personally just don't like LJ at this point with all the questions on offense there. He didn't perform well last year and I wonder if he's mostly a product of a system/OL (very much like Priest Holmes before him).

Lynch he's the youngest and the most talented IMO.

Gore and LJ are closest but they have durability/team quality issues.

Gore scares me. Maybe since I drank his cool-aid last year and suffered through the miserable season.

I voted for Lynch.

Not to sure about Westbrook over Addai, or LT over Jackson. There should have been a poll for those players.
if you look through most rankings, the top 4 are pretty much a lock. I suppose an argument can be made for Addai over Westbrook. As an Addai owner, I tried trading him for Westbrook but the BW owner wanted a late 1st included.

No way i would take LT over Jackson, i would be willing to bet i am not the only one who feels this way. Not saying that SJax would win, but i certainly think it would have been close enough for a poll. Same goes for Westbrook/Addai, but no big deal.

And yet, here you are #####ingThe way I see it, this allows you room to complain, which tends to make people happy.

1. Adrian Peterson (AD) MN 3/21/85

2. Ladanian Tomlinson SD 6/23/79

3. Stephen Jackson STL 7/22/83

4. Brian Westbrook PHI 9/2/79

5. Joseph Addai 5/3/1983 [ 41 ] ** [51.04%](Gore [ 14 ] ** [15.73%])
No individual poll for 1-4, yet we feel the need to carry the percentages out to two decimal places. :coffee: BY the way, is this PPR or not?
Dude, it's a cut and paste. Did you ask scoring anywhere else? If you read the original WR poll, it provides answers

Read the original poll and don't see it. I think PPR makes a larger difference in the evaluaton of RBs than any other position. Seems an easier question to answer than to provide a snippet response.

Fair enough, I know I read it in one of these threads, thought it was that one. I was in a rush when I responded. I'm starting these over anyway, standard FBG scoring, but I will appreciate posts stating when they would differ in PPR, as I think most will also appreciate the comments.
