Wicked.
Seahawks Needs were RG, LG, TE, RB
This gets rid of the LG need. Now we draft Stewart in the 1st, and Fred Davis in the 2nd*, and I am a happy man!
* = wishful thinking
Why Stewart over Mendenhall if you don't mind me asking?
And why not an asterisk on either of them since both will likely be gone well before pick 25?Regardless of the draft, and I am giving up on getting one of the top 3 RBs, this is a great signing. Not Earth shattering, but great nonetheless. From what I've read about Wahle he not only has the ability to be a great guard, but has a meanness that none of the OL has had since Hutch left. Jones doesn't need to be mean and Sims and Spencer are too young and concentrating on their positions to be mean, but a good vet like MW ought to go a long way in making the interior 3 a much better run blocking unit. They need to sign Locklear at all costs and then they can push OL depth a little back on their need list.
As for any 1st round drafted RB flourishing from day one, that's a pipe dream. Unless whoever they draft is a genius at pass blocking and blitz pickup. The Holmgren offense isn't a great place for a rookie RB to flourish. I imagine that barring a TC disaster or a surprise personnel change, SA will be the starter with a firm grip on the job and maintaining the split with Morris they were using in the second half of the season.
