I don't get the obsession with MJD, especially over guys who have already produced, such as Ryan Grant and Willis McGahee

MJD had 11 points more than Grant and 13 less than Earnest Graham. He was Graham and Grant each started 10 games, MJD started all 16. McGahee started 16 games and was a full point per game ahead of him despite being stuck in the incompetent system of now-fired Brian Billick.

I like MJD, and would LOVE to have him on my team, but the speculation regarding the guy is a bit out of control. Grant will play all season, Graham will play all season, and McGahee will have a competent guy running the offense. McGahee and Grant are still prett young.

damn! What's wrong with Grant and Maroney? I understand the issue with Maroney, but people are ready to crown MJD as the second coming and seem to ignore the fact that Grant had as many fantasy points last year as MJD did, despite starting in about half as many games. I definitely think MJD is great for dynasty, but he's had 7 total games of 100 YFS in his 2 seasons in the NFL. Grant had 6 in the last 10 games of 2007, as did Earnest Graham.

The biggest difference between MJD and Grant is talent. Put MJD in the Packers offense and he is being mentioned with AD and Jackson. Put Grant in Jacksonville, and he is still on your leagues waiver wire.

Maybe it's because MJD is the best choice remaining? IMO he should have been chosen ahead of Lynch, LJ, and Portis, let alone McGahee or Grant.Also, not sure what you mean about Grant and McGahee outproducing MJD. Grant had more touches than MJD last year but did less with them finishing as the #17 fantasy back (MJD was #13).McGahee has been around longer than MJD, and has gotten many more touches per season than MJD, yet he has only finished 9th, 13th, 26th, & 8th since 2004. It's clear that McGahee is a proven fantasy back, yet in his four seasons as a starter he still has yet to match MJD's rookie season in fantasy points scored.The 'unproven' MJD finished 8th, & 13th while working part-time in his first two seasons in the League, and clearly has his best football ahead of him. False. MJD was deactivated for the last regular season game because the Jags wanted to rest starters.

Also, it took the new OC four games to figure out how to properly use MJD. From the 4th game of the season on MJD was a dependable RB1 for fantasy purposes, despite the fact that he had to share the backfield with Fred Taylor who had a career year.

As I already pointed out Grant had more touches than MJD and scored fewer fantasy points. MJD has fewer touches and 100 yd games than you'ld expect, because he is sharing the backfield with a running back who has rushed for over 10,000 yards. As unappreciated as Fred Tayor may be, that caliber of RB just doesn't grow on trees. However, Taylor will be 32 in 2008 and it is highly probable that he will start giving way to MJD. How much clearer of a picture do you need me to paint for you?

 
I went Parker, he was leading the league in rushing when he got hurt and was unlucky to only score twice. He could easily get 9-10 TD's next season. Combine that with 1500+ total yards and he's gonna be a steal if he's available at RB10.

MJD would have been my 2nd choice.

I'll take Ronnie Brown over these guys any day of the week especially the highly overrated MJD.

:hophead: You'll take the guy that's coming off a majory injury, has never played an enitre season and has finished #23, #25, #27 and has yet to even score 160 fantasy points in a season.

What is the word on his knee? He was having a career year before that, but I think it is really overly optomistic to think RB will pick up where he left off on that career year after that injury. He is known to have a propensity to be hurt, I would think that may indicate how well his body will take to recovery. Unless he really falls far, I would rather let someone else find out.
 
Im not sold on MJD as a RB1. IMO, he'll be a productive RB2, but I don't see him getting to 300+ touches that would vault him into the next tier. I'd take Barber and Maroney over him, as I think both will play a larger role in their offense than MJD, and are fairly close in age.

You might be right, but what do you base your assertion on? Neither has played a larger role yet.

Exactly, and Julius Jones and Samy Morris are no Fred Taylor.
 
with MJD having double the next RB and over 130 votes in, we're moving on to 11. (I doubt that will last long either)
