(KFFL) John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports free-agent WR Randy Moss (Patriots) reached out to free-agent QB Daunte Culpepper (Raiders) to discuss reuniting on any NFL team interested, according to sources. They aren't considered a package deal, but as an option for teams looking for a quarterback and a wide receiver.
Hmmm....... -------------------- Sorry son, but I don't have to dumb down The Sport just so noobs like you have a chance at keeping up. I play in a $4,000 entry, Super-WCOFF, triple-reverse, double down, mirror league with a modified PPFDR base 8 scoring system, and we just held our draft in July. For the 2013 season. You think Matt Barkley getting the start in USC is news? I drafted him after studying up on him, after he signed his letter of intent, last year. You think that maybe going with a WR in the first two rounds instead of back-to-back RBs is somehow new thinking in fantasy? Well, do you have the balls to do what I did this year when I didn't take my first RB until the fourth round (Roderick Smith, Harding High School of Indiana)? You've probably never even heard of Martavis Bryant, Kyle Prater, or Darius White, yet not only did I draft them this year to form my future WR core, I've also started referring to them by fantasy board nicknames (Super Mart, KPrater, & DoubleDarius). Hell, guys like you are going to be the poor schmucks who are searching this board five years from now for info on some great RB you just heard of out of the middle of nowhere in Alaska, and the FBG search result box is going to come up with this very post, where I brag about nabbing Isaiah Weeks of the Monroe Catholic Rams at the 25.32/26.01 turn a full two months before he lit up Delta Junction for 193 yards/2 TDs or Ketchikan for 183 rushing yards, 55 rec yards, & 2 TDs. You'll be wondering about his durability and I'll remember a phone call I made back when you were just hearing the name "Knowshon Moreno" for the first time to the kid's doctor in Fairbanks about the sprain he suffered in his left ankle in 2008. Let me give you a tip, IT = INFO, and there's no "expires by" date on it. |

Yikes...there aren't many teams Culpepper could be a starting QB on. Baltimore? Chicago? ATL? Realistically, what team would commit to Culpepper at this point? I can see a number of teams signing him as protection or, more likely if a starter goes down to injury in mini camp and a team gets desperate for a veteran. But what team could justify bringing Culpepper aboard as its starter? Kansas City wouldn't shock me, because I can't believe for a second they're committed to Brodie Croyle; and Herm and Peterson are in win now mode [or close to it], but they don't have the coin to sign Moss to a deal and keep Jared Allen and rebuild their line, do they? |

Sportscenter in game during the Cavs-Bulls said "Moss contacted CPepp about possibility of reuniting in Minny". This was about an hour ago. Specifically, it was reported as Minnesota.

Ridiculous rumor. Even if Moss did contact Pep, why would they tell Clayton about it? Makes no sense. The media is extremely bored with the lack of activity.

I hear that Culpepper has been contacted by the Calgary Stampeders, and Moss is very interested in joining his former teammate to form a great 1-2 punch in the CFL.

-------------------- “Baal-pteor’s black eyes widened as he felt the thick cords of muscles that protected the barbarian’s throat. With a snarl he exerted his inhuman strength, and knots and lumps and ropes of thews rose along his massive arms. And then a choking grasp burst from him as Conan’s fingers locked on his throat. For an instant they stood there like statues, their faces masks of effort, veins beginning to stand out purply on their temples. Conan’s thin lips drew back from his teeth in a grinning snarl. Baal’s eyes were distended; in them grew an awful surprise and the glimmer of fear. They stood motionless as images, except for the expanding of their muscles on rigid arms and braced legs, but strength beyond common conception was warring there – strength that might have uprooted trees and crushed the skulls of bullocks.
The wind whistled suddenly from between Baal-pteor’s parted teeth. His face was growing purple. Fear flooded his eyes. His thews seemed ready to burst from his arms and shoulders, yet the muscles of the Cimmerian’ thick neck did not give, they felt like masses of woven iron cords under his desperate fingers. But his own flesh was giving way under the iron fingers of the Cimmerian which ground deeper and deeper into the yielding throat-muscles, crushing them in upon jugular and wind-pipe… …with a savage wrench he twisted Baal-pteor’s head around until the ghastly face leered over the left shoulder, and the vertebrae snapped like a rotten branch.” |

I have no idea what their cap situation is, but Atlanta is about the only team where I could see both of these guys going right now. Atlanta needs a QB. They also need a difference maker at WR. And theyre thinking about bringing in Michael Turner. If they could draft Jake Long and another young stud lineman early in the draft, and Culpepper could still actually play, they could turn their O around in a hurry. Just a thought.

As someone stuck in michigan. I would consider it an upgrade.
Move Roy and jones for shepard and and a second. Sign pep and moss. Give up every pick in 2008 to get jake long. And one of the top five rookie RBS. Consider the offseason a success for millen. This post has been edited by noneother: Mar 2 2008, 02:13 PM |

why on Earth would Moss care about C-Pep at this point? Either stay with Brady, play with Farve, or even any of the 4 strong arm QBs in the NFC East. But who gives a flip about C-Pep??

All I can think of is that this is just a ploy for some crazy owner to sign CPepp in the hopes of landing Moss. Thereby giving his boy more looks.

It needs to be said...John Clayton and Chris Mortensen have been slipping in the last few seasons; as they press to continue to have an edge in an era where the Internet trumps them repeatedly and the NFL Network gets the "official" scoops first.
Let's be honest, Adam Schefter has been 1000% more plugged in over the last few weeks than Clayton and Mort; who have basically been reacting to the news after it happens versus breaking any. |

I know it's living in the past and ignoring recent history and baldy's stubbornness (and Culpepper horses assness when he left), but adding Culpepper and Moss to Minnesota with AD in the backfield could be potential greatness.

How many of you went to this link and watched the video? It certainly seems to me that there is an over reaction here. Clayton basically is just saying that hey "Moss and Culpepper remained friends and have talked in the past about trying to reunite- it seems they had a conversation about this" and then he clearly says that this is not a packaged deal that they are trying to get done. Sounds more like to friends saying 'hey, wouldnt it be great?' than anything. Why freak out about it? |

How about Jacksonville, reuniting with Tice? I think Jacksonville likes Garrard a little more than Culpepper and they just gave Cleo Lemon $3 million a year to be a backup. -------------------- QUOTE(MarshallPlan @ Oct 5 2006, 05:43 PM)

I dont think RM is as dumb as people think. In saying that, the only reason he leaves, IMHO is if he thinks BB Is going to have some discipline come against him. Right now I think a ring is much more important than money....maybe I am wrong

So let's see if the Pats trade Brady away and bring in Culpepper......

False alarm.
Apparently Randy Moss was misquoted. When he said he wanted to reunite with Culpepper, he was talking about going on a boat ride with him on a lake in Minnesota. -------------------- He who laughs last thinks slowest. Everyone has a photographic memory. Some don't have film.
