Went Slaton...if he falls into the right situation he could be a very good fit as a change of pace back. Best case, a poor mans Brian Westbrook

I take a WR that could be a starter over a guy that'll never carry the load. Even if Slaton helps a team, I don't think the production will be consistent enough to start him.

Just to use Westbrook as an example... look at the WRs in the draft that went before him...

D.Stallworth

A.Lelie

J.Walker

J.Gaffney

J.Reed

T.Carter

A.Davis

R.Caldwell

-all these WRs being top 50 picks in the draft. Now which one would you rather, a sure thing like a one of those WRs or a running back with the possibility of falling into the right system and turning into a stud? And I know, Slaton will never be more than a change of pace back or a third down back, but Im pretty sure thats the same thing they said about Westbrook when he came into the league.

No one said sure thing. But at this point in a fantasy draft, you are talking about the 10th or 11th RB off the board, a guy that has serious questions about his body frame versus WRs that have all the physical attributes to be NFL starters. I don't think it's a lock that Slaton can never be an every down back. But the odds are against it, based on his body size. The odds were against Westbrook as well. Since we are cherry-picking examples, would you take Lorenzo Booker or Dwayne Bowe last year?

Leon Washington over Greg Jennings?

Darren Sproles or Roddy White?

Quentin Griffin or Anquan Boldin?

With the exception of booker, none of those RBs are above 5'8". But yes it goes both ways and there are steals in every draft at both WR and RB, but Id rather take my odds of getting a good RB just for the fact that landing a good RB has more value in most leagues, esp for a guy like Slaton in PPR leagues.
