2007 Rookie TEs vs 2008 Rookie TEs (1 Viewer)

I haven't really heard a lot about this year's crop of rookie TEs and get the impression that it is not impressive. I DO think both Miller and Olsen will be top 12 TEs this year.

2006 draft class is probably better and deeper than both 2007 and 2008:

Vernon Davis

Owen Daniels

Tony Scheffler

Marcedes Lewis

Quinn Sypniewski

Jeff King

Leonard Pope

Anthony Fasano

David Thomas

and that includes a couple of busts in Joel Klopfenstein and Dominique Byrd. Blame the Rams.

Eventhough limited, I like what I've seen in Boss. He's the most underrated of the TE's.

There is no athlete like Greg Olsen in this year's class, but it's deeper in pure pass catchers. Keller, Davis, Jerm. Finley and Rucker all project very well in the passing game, and Carlson isn't bad either. In defense of the 07 class, guys like Boss, Patrick, and Rosario all came on at the end of 07, and Milner should get a shot this year. Scott Chandler, who was one of the better pass catchers in the class has been buried in San Diego, maybe we'll see more of him this year.

Bloom/Anyone

I'd like some thoughts from the SP on Kellen Davis, TE, MSU.

Being a UM fan, I've noticed him quite a bit this year. I've thought he looks fantastic, and he had a pretty impressive combine. Not quite the level of Keller, but still good. I heard some teams were looking at him at DE, since he played some defense at MSU as well. Good sign of athleticism, but has that hurt his stock? Could he actually be drafted with the possibility of playing defense?

I'm nowhere near the level of draftniks as some here, so I'd love some opinions. I honestly thought he was a lock to be in the top 5 TE's off the board, and it really doesn't seem like anyone is that high on him. Maybe it's the fact that he never really did much until this season, or maybe there's just something I'm missing altogether. Which is why I ask! Thanks.

What are the thoughts on Martin Rucker? He was a pretty solid TE at Missouri and seems to be a very good pass catcher.
T Rucker pulled a hammy and couldn't really compete at the combine...his stock is dropping pretty significantly, but someone is going to get a stud in the 3rd or 4th round. His agent had him working out in AZ because they thought he could possibly improve his stock enough at the combine to go late 1st or very early 2nd round.Chase Coffman will be one to watch next year, his dad played TE in Green Bay and the kid is an animal!
