Having read this I can't help but think this does nothing but diminish the value of Cotchery. If the Jets truly thought he could be a dominate #1, they would not have felt the need to extend Coles. This is particularly telling, because Coles has not been kind when referring to the Mangini regime (as far as working players too hard). You would think this would make them more likely to move Coles, yet it looks as though they will extend him. Perhaps I am just underestimating the value of Coles, but I was under the assumption that Cotchery was surpassing him as the #1 guy in NY. Maybe the contract will be less than I expect it to be making the signing more reasonable, but this strikes me as a bad sign for Cotchery owners.
