Santonio Holmes vs Dwayne Bowe (1 Viewer)

I was thinking about making a move for one of these two guys but what does everyone think of their future values?

If possible, could you give me your opinion on their:

A. Individual skills and who is better

B. Who's in a better situation (team, system, qb on the team, etc)

C. A+B = who makes a better candidate for one's team?

Thanks!

...I don't know enough about them to do a comparison but it seems to me that Holmes is on a more secure team. A young QB who plays well and will be there for awhile. The QB situation is shaky for the future in KC.

I like Bowe in a dynasty and Holmes in a redraft.

I think Bowe has the better talent

I think both guys situation are pretty similar with a slight advantage to Holmes because of the QB situation. Both teams are run 1st.

Santonio situation-wise hands down. Bowe might be more athletic, but his situation and QB stability isn't gonna match Holmes's anytime soon imo.

ETA: This run first thing, just take into account that Ben passed for 32 TD's last year, not bad for a "run" first team.

Holmes in every way.

He's a much more explosive athlete in a far better situation.

I don't think Bowe can repeat.

D. Bowe reminds me a little of Andre Johnson during the David Carr days. Unbelievable talent quagmired in a WR-unfriendly system, with a bad/inexperienced QB, etc. If and when KC is able to improve offensively, I think Bowe could become a top 5 WR. His ceiling is a bit higher than Santonio, but Santonio is in a much better system, is a solid WR and will probably put up better numbers over the next 1-2 seasons. Both are good dynasty guys but overall I think Santonio is a safer pick, at least in the relative short-term. Still, as a Bowe owner, I hope he blows up in 2008 and proves me wrong.

:goodposting: Holmes is absolutely the better athlete, and on the better team with the better qbThis isnt very close imo

:( My thoughts exactly.

Count me among those likeing Bowe's talent more, but situation far less.

Redraft, it would have to be Holmes, but obviously you're thinking dynasty, where the two are, for the moment, interchangeable.

I think Bowe has the tools to be a superstar NFL WR, Holmes also has all the tools except size. You put them both on the same team, and I'll take Bowe, but until he finds himself a QB, give me Holmes. I was very impressed with Bowe this season, he reminds me of young Terrell Owens regarding the way his strides look so effortless but explosive.

One of the things that impressed me about Bowe is how well he played as a rookie. It has been said (and probably will continue) that WR is the toughest position to learn on the field for a rookie. In other words, it seems that rookies in this position take the longest time to produce. Granted, I am a die-hard KC fan, and was able to watch every game Bowe played in last year, so I was very excited to see this kid perform the way he did.

I like Holmes as well. The Steelers are a much better all around team vs. KC (better QB right now, better o-line, and better coaching), so I think that Holmes has the potential to have a great season.

But, if Bowe can build on his rookie season, I believe he has the chance to be a better WR than Holmes, but that may take a year or two to define.

Bowe is built like a #1, I am not sure Holmes will ever reach that status. I like the comparison to Andre Johnson on Bowe's side. I think with QB/coach help, he will be able to flourish. Obviously Holmes has the better surroundings right now and Bowe may never have the chance to reach full potential.

Bottomline, I see Holmes capping out at 1100 yards 10 td. I believe Bowe's ceiling is much higher than that.

If you can get them for EQUAL value, I would take Holmes in a landslide. Take the production now. Nothing has changed in Holmes' situation from last year and while I was sooo impressed with Bowe, for all we know he could flatline at 750 yards 6 TDs for the next few years for a myriad of reasons (QB situation, no line, Gonzo breaking down, etc.).

I would go with the "known" and that is Holmes.

A question for the board, though, would they go for equal value in a dynasty or would Holmes warrant more in return?

Well put.

I would think Holmes would warrant more.In the dynasty WR poll, Holmes went 13th and Bowe went 20th. Well, I don't necessarily agree with those rankings, I think that's kinda what the consensus is.
