Don't miss the train on the next great outfielder. Get him...at all costs.

Next great OF? He's 27 and he just now locked up his first full time gig...barely...on the Pirates. I still like him for a cheap power/steals/run scoring combo late in the draft but to call him the next great OF I think is more than just a little out there.

a 3 category contributor, 1 category stud off of waivers is pretty nice.

right. He couldn't get a full time crack in the lineup with the greatness of Tike Redman and Chris Duffy ahead of him on the Pirates depth chart. He could be serviceable, 20 homers, 30 steals.....but average is not going to be very good. I think of him as having the upside of Mike Cameron, who did manage to have a few productive offensive years.

Breaking News

If he puts together this kind of line together on a monthly basis for an entire season, we might be looking at another Grady Sizemore.
:lmao: Don't sleep
:) checking in here.McClouth may not be the Pirates starting center fielder by August!

In the Pirates farm system is a blue-chip talent in AAA, and his name is Andrew McCutchen. He is the man that is being targeted to be starting in CF by ATLEAST 2009 -- HE will be a legitimate stud. Keep an eye on him.

If you haven't heard of Andrew McCutchen you aren't much of a baseball fan.

McCutchen has a lot of raw material but I'm not sure he'll ever develop. At this point he's little more than fool's gold.

Who knows. Prospects are hard to read but I'm guessing a good AAA year this year gives McCutchen the job sooner than later. McClouth could catch on as a looper or something thereafter. :excited:

My post was in jest of you drafting him. The kid will get his shot.

Is that thumbs up for the 3 run HR, or not calling for the ball in the bottom of the 9th allowing 2 runs to score to tie the game lol?

Im guessing he only let the ball drop because he wanted to improve on his already stellar batting stats on the evening.

Where would you rank him? Or compare him to who?

Just seeing if he would be an upgrade over my bench.

McLouth is a better fantasy player than in real life. He brings good speed with decent power; hitting at the top of the order will give him R opportunities. I'd compare him a bit to Eric Byrnes before Byrnes had his career year in 2007.He won't do your AVG any favors and won't provide many RBIs. His biggest downside risk is losing playing time to Nyjer Morgan now or McCutchen later. He's probably better than your bench guys in a 12 team mixed.

He's a stud. Compare him to Granderson, Crawford, and Sizemore.:)This kid is playing for his life.

My OF bench is Griffey and Ibanez. Make a move?(My other bench = A.Hill, F.Sanchez, Adam Laroche)

Who needs defense posting line like that?

Get him active in all formats
Definate miscommunication between Bay and McClouth last night, probably was McClouth's fault, he should have called for it. Could have cost Pitt the game.Of course, fantasy wise, who the hell cares. But you can bet that the Pitt manager is looking at it.

McLouth - Think Corey Hart a year ago. Then next year I'd say his ceiling is a young Griffey.

McLouth is a must start at this point. He'll provide good pop and speed while hitting for average. Get him active in all formats.

McLouth would add some speed to that group. Sanchez and Hill are kind of redundant.
Who would you rather have? I have Uggla at 2nd, but am just not confident in him. (Thus Hill and Sanchez on my bench)

Sanchez is struggling through problems with his surgically repaired shoulder, I expect these problems to continue which will negatively effect his avg and power. A slight decrease in both of those cats and he is basically un-ownable in any format. I would start McLouth against righties whenever you can, make him prove himself against southpaws before starting him against them though.

If you want a comparison, it might be someone like Shane Victorino.

McLouth might have a little more power, Victorino a little more speed. McLouth will probably get on base a little more, but Victorino is obviously in a much better offense.

A .275 season with 15 HRs and 30 SBs is definitely within reach for him. I can pretty easily see him scoring 100 runs too because the Pirates offense isn't going to be THAT bad.

picked him up as well this week. can't decide whether or not to play him or JD Drew at DH during week 2.

What kind of drunks are you guys playing with that Nate the Great was on the wire?

I drafted the man. Before he even had a job. He's that good.
